How would you go about making a glitter shader in Iray?

I imagine it would involve playing around with the metallic flakes settings but after spending an hour messing with them I'm at a loss. Im looking for something like glittery fabric.

Edit: Uploaded two examples if that helps

May I suggest starting with the product "Fabric Basics Mix and Match for Iray"; the glitter is lovely and realistic and very customizable.  here is a very quick and fuzzy render:

I was looking at that shader. I wanted to try to diy. Might get it next paycheck.

    Is her skin glittery?

The Fabrics Basics Mixer is extremely nice; if you decide you want metallic mesh in aqua blue, you can add three attributes and you are done. The glitter is customizable by size and color.

There are several fabric shaders here with "glittery" effects:

    Look particularly at the lamé.

Be aware that small "noisy" patterns can take longer to render. Actually, they often render just fine, but Iray's pixel convergence algorithms don't always know it.
