My runtime is a MESS. Help?

Okay so my runtime is a mess... Like, it's bad. It's really bad. I need to clean it, but is there a good way to go about doing this? I want to move all of my hair in one runtime, all of my clothes in another. Specific props here, non specific props there.
Materials I need, materials I don't..you get the picture.
So, how do I do this? I don't think I have the original files for ALL of these. That is to say, the rar file. Is there an easy way to catalogue this?

    What software are you using?

Easiest way I can see is to do a fresh install, seperating things into seperate runtimes (hair, clothing etc...) If you make a backup of your current runtime, you can manually move the files from there into the appropriate new runtime, so you won't lose anything you don't have the source files for.

if you're using DS, you can have a look at this and see if it helps:

It will bork your metadata on any products that have it, if you move stuff around tho.

Another option if you're using DS is to use Categories to organize your content. That way you can set things up any way you like, without worrying about breaking metadata or the content.
