Confused about commercial use

I read the licence agreement and I'm still confused about what I can and cannot do with content I create from Daz 3D studio.
It sounded like no commercial use at all. But, later it sounded like there were exceptions (2D, or for certain store bought stuff), but I'm totally lost.
Can anyone clarify?
If you can't create something and use it on a website or in a video or on a flyer, what's the point? What are people doing with their creations?

You can do whatever you like with renders that you make (either stills or animations). What you can't do is redistribute the meshes.
You are also not allowed to distribute textures as they are, but as said above as long as you stick to 2D images or movies where no one can extract the original meshes or textures you are free to do what ever you want.
There is one product with some additional restrictions even on 2D art - the Ann Marie Goddard Digitial Clone for Victoria 3.
I think there should be license info in batabase that we can search or filter products that we can use in project. eg for commercial use or gamedev.
Now I have separated database folders for that purpose.
Another question is websites that use webgl. Is it secure enough to use gamedev license and can you use 3rd party website hosting?
We wouldn't keep having this discussion of the EULA specifically used the term "commercial" in its paragraph of "Terms of Use. Two Dimensional Works," though commercial application is implied by other terms (sell, transfer, market, etc.).
Elsewhere the EULA does specify non-commercial use for certain activities, such as using the asset to create 3D objects, so there really should be equitability in the phrasing. Anyway, in case someone from Daz legal is reading this...
You've got it a little bit backwards, which might be causing confusion. "Content" is the stuff you buy from DAZ (or from other stores, or download from freebie archives) which you install into your DAZ|Studio content location. You load this content into your D|S scenes to create whatever — still images, animations, etc. It's this "whatever" that you can freely use (with the exceptions noted above) for commercial purposes.
Note that the DAZ licence only applies to content you get from DAZ; content from other sources might or might not have their own licences, which might or might not forbid commercial use of anything you make using them.
Thank you all. Sorry for the late response, but I didn't seem to get any email notifications of your replies.
That's great news. Much appreciated!
So can we use content we buy from the DAZ Marketplace to develop an interactive game/app say in Unity or similar?
I assume content use in these various game platforms DO NOT expose the DAZ purchased content/meshes so that they can be used by others, is that correct?
Thanks.
If you want to use 3D content in the game, as opposed to 2D renders, then you need a game Developer License for the artist in question (or look at Morph3D, DAZ's sister site catering for Unity developers).
If we are not able to create 3D objects from DAZ content for use in games, but we are able to use commerically images and animations we create in DAZ, then is it okay to use those same images and animations in a game, provided no 3D objects are exported? I'm thinking that images created in DAZ would be useful as backgrounds and animations would be useful in scene cuts/level changes, etc..
Thanks!
Correct...as animations/cut scenes or backgrounds there's no use of the 3d models themselves in the game, so the game license is not needed. It's needed when using the actual meshes (and textures) as opposed to renders (animations count as renders).
Hi, It's my first time here and first time checking out 3D humans. I'm hoping to release a dating site one day and I'd like to feature a clip like this:
the Michael 4 promo. So all I need is to buy the content, change things around and have moving images on my video, and no extra license has to be bought? Thanks in advance.
can i use daz studio models in a mobile app ???
or do I have to pay a license
You can use 2d sprites without an interactive license. if you are going to be using the actual mesh (geometry) of the products then you need the license.
