The river's edges are most impressive, aren't they? My budget for this week is already spent but this has gone right to the top of next week's shopping list.
Cheers,
Alex.
Mom: Uthgard, why are you studying philosophy? You know the job prospects aren't exactly stellar...
Young me: I don't care that much about material wealth. As long as I can pursue my intellectual interests and live with a modicum of comfort, I can be satisfied.
Present me: Goddamnit!
Had to mortgage a child, but achieved a dream:
Excellent! Have to save up for it, but it's on my wishlist for later.
Take me to the river! Tremendous product. So many camera angles to choose from. Two thumbs up. Thanks for another great set.
Who needs kids eh? It's not like they'll really provide for us in our old age . . .
Well I am 100% enjoying using this product - it's every bit as as good as I hoped it would be! There are so many angles to use it from, and it renders incredibly quickly in 3Delight (these two each took less than 5 minutes). Thank you so much for giving us that 3Delight version - I have trouble with Iray and sizeable scenes with a tiny GPU so almost every Iray render is CPU.
Oh and I love those late daffs/early bluebells...and the May blossom too. This is an interrupted Iray render - 20 minutes and still showing 0% completion, but it didn't look too grainy so I stopped it there.
Here's some renders I did of Tango's earlier set, the tangy apple orchard.
Cheers,
Alex.
Awesome pics Melanie and Alex
Here's a few cute, little doggie pictures, again with the tangy apple orchard as the background.
Cheers,
Alex.
congrats on the release, its looking great! But this render just made my day! Thanks for that!
Cheers @Linwelly. Llamo Man will be back for future misadventures (BTW, he is one of the portraits on the walls in City Hall, and she is the one at the lectern in the promos for it)
Lol, nice way of reference there... that fish on the front though...
One of the promos that didn't make the cut was of an angler fishing in one of the paddocks. The irony was supposed to be that the guy in the car caught a fish, but the angler didn't. Doesn't work so well without that other picture though.
Here's a reverse angle on the car:
Someone needs to use this set for a Texas flood render in Llola Lane's music and poetry inspiration thread.
Just wonder about iray SS version of the Ford set. I have tried it on my computer and after 20 minutes of iray rendering, no image appeared.
What computer beast one need to have, to actually render it?
The body language on both figures is so good it raises this render to the level of a classic.
Cheers,
Alex.
What spec computer are you using? CPU? GPU?
If you're seeing nothing at all, check that Instances Optimisation in the render settings is set to Memory (otherwise it'll just sit there and eventually crash)
GPU-Z measured 2009MB used during the promo renders (at 1920 x 1080), so it should fit on most modern cards (might be marginal on a 1050, but certainly 1060 & up). My 980Ti takes around 40 minutes to render the promos to 80% (1920 x 1080). There's a CPU-only render a few posts up that looks pretty good after 20 minutes. (don't know what spec CPU though)
Do you mean mine? I have i7-3770 3.40 GHz (4 cores, 8 logical processors) with 32 GB RAM.
Ok, thanks for the explanation. I have Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 with 8GB of VRAM, but I have probably Instances Optimisation set to Speed.
Will try again with the Memory option set.
By the way: what is the difference between iray version and iray -SS?
One more thought. Does this Ford set is inspired by the real thing or it is just imaginary one?
Have you seen such real road with pass over the water without a bridge for vehicles?
Never mind - just found photo reference for ford - not easily, because Ford is almost an equivalent to the car.
The difference in the two Iray versions is the lighting: the SS version is set up for Sun-Sky and the other for done & scene (the dome & scene version also has the skydome sky image set as the backdrop). There's a mix of both in the promos.
It's not modelled on a specific ford, but rather is an amalgam of several. They're not uncommon around here, generally on minor roads. Common features tend to be the depth gauge and some kind of footbridge.
Sadly this one's been closed now - too many vehicles had to be rescued!
My favourite ford, whci has a road bridge, not just a foot bridge, even has the village named after it. and still looks as good now as it used to way back
I bought the Country Ford on Wednesday and I’ve been playing around with it over the weekend. I think it’s Tim’s best set yet, exceeding even the Tangy Apple Orchard in quality. Unlike some otherwise very good sets I’ve come across, the sub-components are very well organised – it’s easy to find your way around the scene tab. Since I’m into quasi-medieval, vaguely Tolkienesque fantasy, I was able to track down the anachronistic elements of the scene and remove them without any problems.
I’ve introduced one of Alessandro Mastronardi’s Beavers to the ford, the fruits of my labours can be found below.
Cheers,
Alex.

That reminds me of the movie Girl with all the Gifts. Creepy movie but still great.
Hopefully I can get it after finding out the new computer can run DS.
This is exactly the environment I need for a project I was starting the renders on. Guess I am going to pospone the backgrounds till this hits the store, because it's orders of magnitude better than what I had planned on using.
