preserving 4.8 because

back when I updated to 4.7 or such... a bunch of my earlier files would crash. I was able to get a 4.5 to work and by tossing half the scene out and retrying in 4.7 .. I was finally able to isolate the problem... in that 4.7 didn't handle some files that were negitively expanded ( this will change something right handed into left handed)  
Anyway I was able to troubleshoot the problem...

but if I install 4.9 and it takes out 4.8 along the way how do I debug?
Can I keep 4.8 on the other computer or will 4.9 poke around the net work?

I have no problem with the most updated version... but it's the side effects that have me paranoid... 
Obviously if I hadn't had the file problems before I wouldn't worry about their return

I think the 4.7 would let the 4.5 exist in tandem so I could edit the files in 4.5 and then recheck in 4.7

but if I ended with an issue that involved 4.8 and 4.9 ... I would have to uninstall and install?

And will 4.9 let it self uninstall to let 4.8 install?

I have dual xeons 64 gig ddr4 and a 980 TI not worried about the machine not handling the upgrade.

    No, it will not 'poke around the network'.

    The 'approved' way is to run 4.8 AND the latest beta version (which should be the same as the general build, now).

    thanks I will try that...  I thought that was the case but just trying to cross the Ts... 

    the little brackets along the bottom of the roof line on the right hand building were what was crashing 4.7 ... worked fine in 4.6 and 4.5 obviously or I couldn't have gotten the render...

    grr... I can find a page on daz that shows 4,9 with the word beta in red on it... and the notation that I purchased it...
    but in my product library... the image doesn't show beta on it...  and if I click the view product page... it takes me to the download page makes me sign in and than transfers me away...

    so do I have a beta in my product library or a none Beta that will wipe out 4.8?

    never mind...  found it 
    seaching your product library with "4.9 beta" ... just shows 4.9 but if you search for "beta" only.. it shows up with other stuff.

    have i ever mentioned that using google to search daz works better than using daz's search engine?

    Betas can only be installed with DIM.

    Can't seem to find the Measure Metrics for 4.9 public build in CMS; I could swear it was there before, but now that I am dipping into 4.9 beta, it isn't there.

    just checked and measure metrics was there in beta form.. for 64 bit...
