Ron's (Deviney) content packs - how do you install?

Recently, bought a couple of Ron's PSD packs, but I'm not sure how to install them through the DIM.

Do I install them in my Photoshop folder or are they accessed through Daz3d, or other method?

They appear to install using DIM.  This being the case what is the setup in DIM?

I'm not sure how they should install.

I don't have those particular packs, but I do have many of Ron's other packs which also have a pair of installers. The ones tagged "Photoshop" need to be installed wherever you have the Photoshop program installed (these files contain the .abr, .asl, etc files that need to be in the Photoshop presets libraries). You will need to add that install location in your DIM settings. The installer tagged "General" can be installed anywhere - either with all the rest of your DS stuff, or in a separate location where they may be easier for you to find (these files will contain .psd or .png image files for you to open and use in Photoshop to add details to your renders).

ETA: You add the Photoshop application in DIM by clicking on the cog-shaped icon at top right, then click on the "Applications" tab and then the "+"  symbol at bottom right. This brings up a panel headed "Add Application" - set "Name" to Photoshop, "Version" to whatever version  you use (I think it defaults to CC if that's what you have), "Bit" as appropriate, "Path" to where Photoshop is installed,  click "Accept" and that's done.

I will place attachment for my DIM application settings at bottom.

I have not been able to install the http://www.daz3d.com/ron-s-war-essentials

using the DIM. -  Here is message I get

Install Manager cannot find a required path. The package for "Ron's War Essentials Photoshop Files" requires that the installed path for "Photoshop CC, CS6, 7" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

I bought another of Ron's content and it appears to have installed properly

    http://www.daz3d.com/ron-s-antique-glass-plate-textures ;

    I am using CS4

I prefert to use the DIM since I have close to 1400 content items.  It is so much easier to keep track, update meta, etc.

(Sorry for the slow reply, I only just saw this)

Ah, the product is looking for a later version of PS than you have defined - you can "fool" DIM by adding application entries for CCS, CS6, CS7 - just point them at your CS4 installation (DIM doesn't check the version it just looks for a photshop.exe file at that location - it can even be a dummy .exe) but some features of that product may not work in your older version of Photoshop. You should be OK with the brushes and .psd files, but I've no idea whether CS4 supported Styles and Tools.

One reason why I didn't buy the War Essentials myself is that I only have Photoshop Elements and I don't think some of those things work there.

  • Yes, this worked.  It is  a shame we have to go through this kind of thing, because the install configurations are not correct.

The pack did install with the workaround.

    Thank you
