What I do to make my models lips glossy is take them into my PSP9 program (If you use photoshop pull it into there) and use some of my filters on it to get just the right glossy effect on them.

I hope that helps you out Lasagnaman!

there might be someone who can explain better how you can right in the program you use!!!

In general, without knowing anything about your mats or renderer of choice, to get glossy lips you boost the glossiness setting very high and lower the specular quite dark. If the lips render washed out or silvery looking, set the specular to very dark (like 16 16 16 for ex) and dial down the glossiness until things are under control, then brighten the specular little by little until you get the look you want.

if you happen to have any of my g3 characters, they come with a universal glossy lip utility for iray and 3delight.  You could just grab that and voila! shiny lips in a click

Lyoness...they can be easily used on any character...simply save it out as a shader preset, instead of a material preset and then the diffuse/bump/etc maps don't really matter.
