Could we disable the "Your configuration has changed" dialog that shows up EVERY SINGLE TIME I launch DAZ Studio for those of us that don't use Connect?
It is the custom shader problem that does works with general release but not with iray 2016.1.2 , actually instances issue +textures setup in the custom shader, the shader problem I found was fixed before release but it started again some how disabling GPUs in iray Beta and crashing your display driver . I am sure they work on the shader fix already
DS still since 4.8 spontaneously crashes when applying another shader such as; 'Dz Default' or 'Iray Uber' to auto-fitted clothing using smoothing and Uber Surface :( Reported long ago, but thought would mention here that it is still causing me pain XD
I installed this version about 2 weeks ago. Went to render something last night and it wouldn't render. The window pops in all black. I tried about eight different scenes with the same result. They were all saved scenes so they came in with the saved Iray settings. I even set up a new scene starting from scratch and still they won't render. Please don't ask if my render is set to iray. That was the first thing I looked at. I usually work with the iray sun. No domes or environments. Is anyone else having this issue? Remember that I was using saved scenes with iray lighting that was setup and rendered perfectly in the past.
I am really, REALLY disappointed!! I absolutely could not render anything...zero, zilch, nada!! No matter what I did! I went back to the prior build and everything works. I will be staying there for a while.
To compare render time you need to finish rendering the scene , not counting iterations and second that is not comparison of prove of anything , the GPU scaling changed in 2016.1.2 and so far the fastest in rendering no matter small or big scene especially with multiple devices from the same series .
If you render indoor scenes make sure you use at last caustics on , when using Architectural sampler the time may be much longer but less iterations will be used than without for that reason testing the speed you need to complete rendering the render and check the LOG files for the final time .
Any estimate on when we'll see the next beta release? I'm really curious about Iray 2016.2 and how well it supports the Pascal cards, now that I'm looking to buy a new computer...
It was my Nvidia drives! Bug report folks recommended I update them. They were pretty old. Installed the Aug 2016 drivers and now the latest Beta renders even faster than the current general release!! I'm a happy camper now!

Seconded! I have a 1080 card and am waiting to put it to use...

Uh... I should update my comment... just ordered a new computer about an hour ago. It includes one "GeForce(R) GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X (Pascal)[VR Ready]". It also has a nice i7-6900K 8-core processor and 32GB of ram, so doing CPU only renders in the meantime won't be nearly so slow as with my current computer... (Though I admit I have much trepidation about the Win10 Pro o/s...)
...at least you'll have enough memory overhead so rendering won't go into swap mode like it does on my system. That really slows things down even more as it's dependent on your HDD.
This releas will implement the SDK for new pascal cards? I have buy an GTX 1070 from 2 months and i can't use it...
The notes on the new Private betas indicate this is being worked on, but of course that can't indicate how long it will take to get a Public beta or finished release version. As far as I am aware the nVidia code itself is still a late beta, not a release version.
CUDA 8 IS OUT! Will the new iray 2016.2 be implemented in a beta version of DS before rolling out for public release?
Probably not THIS current beta....it's too late in the cycle for that to happen.
This would mean is possible we have to wait other months, also many? Maybe 1 year? However, I never buy more an Nvidia card to release without inform me on the effective compatibility with iray.

It is currently in the Private Beta channel...which means it's probably slated for the NEXT beta, which, going by past releases, will be shortly after this one goes 'Public'. Or in other words...a few weeks to a couple of months.

The next beta seems to have been delayed longer than 'normal'. Or so it seems to me, perhaps due to this, but I'm not so much speculating as wondering out loud and guessing. :)
- dealt with new external capabilities (cuda 8 & iray )
- wich were in beta themselves until yesterday
- with new features
- on new hardware/architectures
- and some of them not yet available on mac
- and several other things.
That's what I call a big mess/ oups... big deal.
It seems to me normal that there has been some delay but on a (very) possitive side, they ALREADY compile DS with those new things (compatible with Pascal) :-)

Trying to render TerraDome 3 in with Iray Preview in the viewport crashes DS in the current beta, does not crash the current 4.9 general relase.
Several of us have reported this; it appears to be a problem with the version of Iray in the beta.

it's slower on iray rendering, proof below...
Were they done in the previous Public Beta or in the General Release?
I have only been using the Public Beta since 4.9 came out so the answer would be Public Beta only.
I am really, REALLY disappointed!! I absolutely could not render anything...zero, zilch, nada!! No matter what I did! I went back to the prior build and everything works. I will be staying there for a while.
Check the iray blog, second entry. Maybe that explains your case.

...tried rendering a test scene with Josie7 and Beautiful Skins for G3F the other night and it crashed with a BSOD. Using the 4.9.3.56 Beta.
I also notice that the light skin maps from Beautiful Skins tend to render fairly dark requiring gamma adjustment in the Image Editor.

Going to give a second chance after reading that, thanks!

OMG I want to use my pascal so bad T_T my processor is a FX 8320 not nearly as fast as my GTX1070 on iray.

the new beta is a big deal: it has been
- compiled with new library
- dealt with new external capabilities (cuda 8 & iray )
- wich were in beta themselves until yesterday

It's been slightly depressing that the change log for the private beta seemed stuck at build number 4.9.3.99... But today I see we are up to 4.9.3.103
Too bad there's no way of knowing when the next Beta version will be released...
