iRay rendering skin as white?

my render skin keeps rendering white.
i am using the iray shader base.
and ive added all my maps (except a normals map,glos/spec and a SSS map) and its just coming out white.
is it because i havent loaded those maps? i havent made the maps yet.
if it means anything i am using V4, mainly because i love using v4 and i don't know if all my textures/maps/clothes/hair/etc will go on gen/gen2/gen3.
this is my first time using iray so ive no idea what im doing.

It looks like you are getting a bit of color from the diffuse map. Since you are using a specular material, it will take longer to render than Metalicity/Roughness (and for the proper colors to show), by letting the render run longer you should begin to see a bit more color, but I don't think that will solve you problem. You need color (other then white) for your "Translucency Color" until you get your translucency map made. Try a dark pink to start with and adjust from there. I think this should help a lot as it appears from your image that the white in the Translucency Color channel is washing everything else out.

Yes, results will be the same whether using the CPU or a GPU (graphics card) to render the image. The CPU will just take longer.
As long as the render is able to complete - if it times out due to the slowness of the CPU it may not then match what a GPU (or faster CPU) would show. Maximum time (in seconds) can be increased in Render Settings.
Doesn't work that way — if your graphics card isn't NVidia (or like mine, is too old and creaky to handle Iray rendering) then the whole thing gets done by your CPU. This is much slower, but the final render will be identical. It isn't a case of "NVida card does it better", it's "NVidia card does it faster".
