Scaling Size and Other Questions
Hi all. I completed my first modeling project with help from tutorials. (well actually second. Before this I had created a crate). I used Blender with imperial units i.e. feet, inches. I tried to do everything in proper scale.
The issue is when importing the objs into Studio. I imported everything in and set up the room. Attached is a render. I added a figure but the figure was micro small compared to the room.
So:
1) How can I model in real world units (feet and inches mean something whereas blender units, cm, etc don't. It's not that I can't convert. It's just what I am used to). And get the scaling correct for figures?
2) I want to eventually set up things I model just like any of the 1000's of products I've purchased. Any tutorials on this? i.e. I want to set up materials and so forth. For this project I wanted a bedroom I could texture in different styles such as 70's, 80's, Sports, whatever as a way to learn texturing.
I am using Studio 4.9 and latest version of Blender.
I have lots of questions but answers are a little harder to come by. I've been doing searches and so forth.
Thank you for your time.
Tom

1) what are your unti and export settings in Blender - I don't use Blender, but as I recall one of those should help. Once you know the right scale you can create a new preset in the OBJ Import dialogue for future use.
2) Get the basics set up then File>Save as>Support Assets>Figure Prop Asset. Once you have the scene saved as assets you can use Materials Presets for the different looks.
Thanks. I did find another thread that talks about exporting. And it shows some settings. I'm looking into that. it's just that I am so new to this part of the process that everyting is swirling around in my head in a non-coherent jumbled mess at this point. So today my goal is to try and figure out the process. I'm going to take one asset - the tall cabinet - which is 3 separate objects. I'm going to work on the UV mapping process (know very little about it), texture it (know very little about it), fix the rotation so the door will open on the hinge, and then export into Studio and see what happens lol.
The ultimate goal of course would be to have the cabinet in Studio where it would show all 3 parts, I could hide the top or bottom parts if needed and be able to open them with a slider or someting.
I do this all of the time on things I buy. I just don't know how to set it all up myself. LOL. But I like to learn. It's just finding examples.
The Blender scales in Studio are wrong. Whoever created them failed to realize that the default cube in Blender was 2 meters not 1. Import should be 10,000% and export should be 1% and the y and z axes should not be transposed.
Thank you. I will try it. I can always rescale but trying to get a good workflow going rather than a work around. I'm the king of work-arounds at work. it gets old. LOL.
Thank you for your time.
