Working with Daz3d poses for export to Iclone?

Been exporting Daz3d charcters to IClone via 3dxchange successfully using Iclone expressions and lip-sync tools.

Up to now I have used Iclone motions on characters after export is completed to Iclone

I would like to use Daz3d poses, especially when they are sufficient for what is needed in scenes.

I'm not quite sure how to best use all the Daz3d poses, placed on daz timeline with content items.

Yesterday I was playing with the elephant and thought I would use the Daz3d pose files.

I got the poses transition beween each other every 20 frames in the timeline, but couldb't find a way to go back to basic start pose.

My goal is to create a small library of poses for each character starting with base pose for each daz3d pose.

Does anyone know of a good tutorial on some best methods for this.

By this I mean:  Use pose files to crate little short animation from one base position to the pose position, then back to the base position to another pose position.

Aplied the daz3d poses to the timeline and the worked fine. I'm not sure how to do a start base pose before and after each daz3d pose.

Mostly interested to do this with animal content, because I don't need a full facial expressions and lip movements.

I just need a small number of body poses for most animals for mid-range back images in scenes.

Any suggestions for links would be appreciated.  This is probably a simple thing to do, but I've not found it.

best way is to save a tpose you load in between poses on timeline, some pose sets include a zero pose

in 3DXchange you need to create perform clips from them using the little end triangles on timeline to set frames for each , an idle pose as well a a tpose between each one a good idea for that.

I just use the base genesis as once in iClone library can be applied to any figure RL iAvatars and CC figures too

Sad...I tried this.  Check out the attachments.

I thought this might be of interest to other readers.

    The attachments below may help.

I first loaded the elephant, which had a base position (not a tpose)

Then went to the top bar edit menu, moved cursor down and opened figure, then I scrolled down and opened memorize, then I click on memmorize figure pose. This appears to have memorized the current pose of my character.

Then I moved the yellow arrow to frame 20 and clicked on the pose shown.  This added that pose frame 20.

Then I moved the yellow arrow to the right one frame and went to top bar edit menu, I moved the cursor down and opened figure again, then I scrolled down and opened Restore, then I scrolled down to restore figure pose.  The original base pose I memorized to start was applied to the frame.

There do not appear to be any keyboard commands to simplify this.  It is a bit cumbersome, but appears to work well enough.

When viewing the attachments look for the position of the yellow timeline arrowhead as you follow along.

memorise and restore often removes all changes on timeline, using puppeteer might be a better way to go

Agreed with puppeteer you will be able store the poses with no animation between them unless you switch to record mode

I have never used the pupeteer tool. .

I am guessing you use the edit mode. Simply apply the basic pose then add the additional pose/s and apply to a dot ... then apply the dot to the timeline.

There is no need to create an actual transition between poses, just move to a new timeline frame and apply a puppet dot at each frame.

The poses with transitions between poses are stored in each puppet dot.

As you read this... remember.. I am not working with the Daz3d for animations.

I am creating animations on the timeline that I can apply in 3dxchange to perform menu of each character exported to Iclone.

This may seem simple enough, but I"ve not found anything on this procedure up to now.

I am going back to play with my Elephant example now.

    I appreciate the input

    Hi
if I am understanding your objective correctly
I must say that I know of no way to store a series of static poses
in the Daz timeline that wont interpolate between them as you move along your frame range.

In C4D and After effects we have an interpolation method called "step" interpolaton which allows for instantaneous  Switching between keyframed states with no gradual interpolation between.
this is quite useful for having a light go from on to off  etc.

I have the graphmate plugin for DS and  I dont believe it has Step interpolation though.

At any rate you may be better off dropping Daz studio from this particular task and  setting your poses in Iclone proper and saving each one to your custom Imotion library.
Essentially the same amount of work but at least you will already be in Iclone.

    @ Rampart,

I seem to remember that you use Carrara.   In Carrara you can select all the pose keyframes for a figure and duplicate them elsewhere on the timeline.  You could do this with the initial pose - just lassoo-select the keyframes and drag them.  I think you hold 'alt' to duplicate them.

There is also the puppeteer tool in Carrara.

I have been able to export .FBX files from Carrara with animation and bring them in to Iclone where the animation becomes a 'Perform' command.

I always meant to try out adding further motions to one of these characters but I don't use Iclone all that much for one reason or another.

But here are my thoughts:  One possible way to proceed is to export your elephant repeatedly from Carrara with one motion only each time.  I know that this would result in multiple elephant avatars, each with one perform motion, but within Iclone could you not save each motion for re-use and then get rid of all the extra elephants from your library?

Actually, you wouldn't need them to be in your library - just export your elephants to the desktop - drag them into an Iclone scene, perform the motion and save it to the library.  (I need to check this in the manual) but perhaps you will already know whether this can be done.
