iRay Big Cat 2 Render Problem

Hi

Attached is a photo to get a better idea of my problem. I am using a G3M and Big Cat 2 ( Lion ). I added material and texture on the Lion but when I render in iRay the MAT looks too light???

I looked into LAMH Real Fur, but I do not know how to use this? I saw it says it can correct this problem? Is there a way to correct this without LAMH Real Fur?

Thank you

For iray you would need the ful version of LaMH and to export the fur as fibremesh - Iray does not support fibre hair as 3Delight does.

Theoretically you could give it a displacement map of static, pump up the subd, and get something that looks a bit like fur. Mind you, chances are you'd have to crank up subd so high your machine has a seizure and I recommend getting full LAMH, but hey, maybe you have a really really good computer.

Also, IIRC, some of the textures (eyes and mouth?) use custom 3Delight shaders that may not translate well to Iray without some tweaking.

Yeah, I think when I converted a lion to Iray I ended up copying human surfaces and changing the texture maps accordingly.

You might want to try a 'fur' shader for Iray.  Like here:  http://www.daz3d.com/leather-and-fur-iray-shaders

However, for more realistic hair, you'll need something like LAMH or Garibaldi Hair.

Those shaders do work pretty well, and even better than that; so worth it.

I created a quick video, the issue is that the maps have a gamma of 1 so they are rendring washed out in Iray. In the video I select the surfaces, apply the Iray Uber (which converts the original material into an Iray Uber material) and then proceed to adjust the gamma back to 0.

video uploaded here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J959ohGtKqY (no audio)

    Hope this helps!

  • I've had the same problem. DAZ-Vince's video fixes the fur pretty well, but there is stuill an issue with a lack of textures on the claws and the inside of the mouth, which doesn't seem easy to remedy. The lion looks like he has been drinking from a can of white emlsion at the moment.

As usual, most of the textures and settings (even for G8) have to be reworked by the user for iRay.

Related to the fur problem, perhaps this current discussion may help.
