Your video card is an important factor, as are the settings in Edit>Preferences>Interface tab. If you have an older system it's possible that the video card or other parts are running on default drivers as they have no native Windows 10 drivers.

How much Ram?  4, or 400?  Never heard of 400 gb ram.  The processor is pretty slow by modern standards.  Maybe it's having trouble with the new OS (which probably uses more resources than win 7).  If you only have 4 gig of ram, I'm surprised it was working effectively evben in a windows 7 environment.  But if it was working well, you may want to consider downgrading back to Win 7 if Daz was important to you.  Alternatively, you can try adding more ram, but again, the issue may be the processor.  I have Daz loaded on a core duo machine with 4 gig of ram, and it's really slow.  I also have it loaded on 2 i7 machines with 16 gig Ram, and it screams.

As Richard said, I would think you have a videocard that is not supported by Windows 10 or need updated drivers so it's running in software mode, a pretty common problem and it makes anything that has with 3D graphics run like a pig.

I think I have the same specs as you. More or less. If you mean 4gb ram. The only time mine is slow is when loading my runtime libraries. But it doesn't take 10 minutes. Loading Victoria 4 takes 2 minutes max. As it loads all morphs, shapes, parameters as well etc. That's because I set it up to load everything as I never know what I'm gonna do. So if I do that, I don't have to mess around with adding elite morphs or aiko morphs or anything. It's all loaded.

ya 4gb ram sorry bad typing. the driver could be the problem. i had to try to find one that even had open gl1.3 or greater once i  loade windows 10. but the computer is a slim so the graphic card is bult onto the board. so getting a beter one my be out.

Certainly update all the drivers.  One of things you have to realize about Daz is it's really resource dependent.  There are basically 3 main places that it could hang up:  processor, Ram, video card ( in the case of Iray).  2 minutes to load victoria is really slow. Should take about 20 seconds.

I started using daz on an i7 laptop, running Windows 7 32 bit, with 4 gig of ram.  Ran Daz3d 3.1 just fine, with 4th generation figures.  I started to see a serious slow down when I upgraded to 4.5x, using Genesis fugures.  All of the sudden, I couldn't load more than 2 figures, and no scenery.  So i moved up to an i7 with 8, then 16 gig of ram, Win 7  64 bit,   mobile nvidia 5200m card (for what that's worth).  Now I could load scenes as big as I wanted, if I didn't mind waiting, and I could render reasonably fast at high quality using 3Delight.

But not Iray.  This would be a huge issue on your current computer.  I'm sure it'll render, but it'll take days to do a single image.  Video card dependent, and mobile intergrated card mean basically nothing.  Has to be a real, good, Nvidia card.  But like I said, if the card is really good it could still be slowed down at the level of the processor (in the case of an i3 core duo), or the Ram (really, 4 gig is a minimum.)  My current set up :  I7 4790, 16 gig ram, 980 giog SSD, Nvidia GeoForce GTX 970 with 4 gig of ram.  I can now make a good Iray render in about 2 hours.  Thinking of adding a second card to see if it would get any faster.

So Daz3d ...fun program, but I don't think you realize what it could do if you upgraded your computer.  I built my new computer specifically to run Daz.  I love it.

Hi, I googled this since I too have the same problems with DAZ Studio. The mouse drops in and out all the time. I have a PC with a MAD FX 8120 processor, an AMD Radeon HD 7900 graphics card. 16 GB RAM and 480 GB SSD hard drive. The DAZ Studio is moving ridiculously slow. What can I do to fix this?

    Hi,

Old post, but I run Daz 3D on an old laptop. I upgraded to use SSD, and other than that, Win 10. It's essential to use the Task Manager to see what processes and services are running and at what priorities. I kill any I do not need. I use Adobe at times, and good luck if you leave it running, so I set all Adobe services to be manual, so they do not run at startup. Disabling interactive scan on Daz 3D and other directories you know are virus-free. Process Details set to run at high priorities should be low. Also, Startup will kill you. Nothing starts up on mine except Windows Defender and Virus Scan. I even disable the Virus altogether at times (never do this and browse, only if connecting to Daz 3D to log in, for example). Last and this sounds crazy, but it works. I always leave Task Manager running On Top Always. For the occasional freeze, just switch to it, and it gets whatever is running going again for just about any Windows App.

I find this works if you don't want to shell out money while evaluating. I am just about ready to buy an excellent system but I wanted to be sure I could do this. I found out I can, although it is rather tricky. Luckily I have done a lot of 2D Graphics and some animation, but this was a quantum leap. After a few months of trying just about anything I could get my hands on that had a trial and even tried some plans for a month, I have found a good suite with Daz and some others. Now I can invest in the hardware knowing I did my homework first. I do not recommend this for anything but valuations before investing in some hardware. But after eight years, I can do it now and not be disappointed. I was enthused and then lost interest as the degree of difficulty will increase, I am sure.

    Joe
