To be honest there are so many tonalities to skin not just dark or light.  I have a collection of Pantone skins I download from Tumblr plus there are variances to gloss, velvet and other elements of shine that would be needed to get props, hair and non organic items looking just right.... It would be cool if a system like this would be developed and not just around Genesis either.  I'd pay big bucks for that esp if it were a merchant resource.

Here is a screen grab of the Pantone's...

Is victoria 7 a required product? Here's what I'm doing:

    • Load Genesis 3 female
    • Apply Anagenessis 2 Genesis 3
    • Apply Anagenessis 2 Reset Genesis 3

    I get an error that assets were missing: "data/daz 3d/genesis 3/female/uv sets/daz 3d/victoria 7/victoria 7.dsf"

    Thanks!

No, V7 isn't required. I thought the last update fixed that, but maybe it's still in the pipeline. (Or is that what "Apply Anangenessis 2 Reset Genesis 3" is for?) Anyway, go the the Surfaces>Editor and click on your G3F. In the filter field, type UV and in the resulting isolated parameter, set the UVs back to the base female. That should put the textures where they belong. And you can/should be able to do that with Anagenessis 2 applied. I hope this helps, and I also hope I didn't misunderstand your problem...!

Thanks, L'Adair! I think the last update fixed it in the script for 'Anagenessis 2 Genesis 3'. However the 'Reset' is a separate script and may still have the issue. Regardless, I'm sure your workaround will do the trick.

  • I have a question about N.G.S. Anagenessis for Genesis 3 version, I just got it today and read the pdf and removed what wasn't shown in there applied the shader and in the preview window it appears like parts of the mesh in her arms and shoulders are missing it renders out ok but it sort of makes it difficult to poses the hands and arms properly thats the only part of the character that does that other parts look normal, is it supposed to do that to the arms, don't know if this has been asked quite a few pages to look through all the comments with search function being what it is

I am having a missing assets issue, too. Mine was wouldn't tell me what was missing, but I did manage to trace it back to the eyes. The pupil, sclera and iris, specifically were throwing the error. You can check this by saving out a mat file minus those and see if you're still getting the error. Unfortunately, with no way to figure out exactly what was missing, I had no way of going any further with it. If it's the UV for V7, this at least gives me a place to continue looking, so thank you for that. :D

For male and female genitalia use the Freebie Script for Non-Genesis/Prop Figures. link to it is in Dimension-Z's first post

Personally I think it should be part of the main product\script. Using the Freebie script and method, they don't match. Especially for dark skins.

Yeah, I couldn't get it to match on my character at all. Kinda dampens the whole "merchant resource" thing.

For dark skin, apply the "NGS Shader_New" shader (from the Freebie Script for Non-Genesis/Prop Figures) to the Gen body part like instructed but use "Anagenessis 2 Dark Skin Genesis 3" script in the Dark Skins folder on it, not the freebie script. the Dark Skin script worked better and matched the color ever time ( did it 3 times on 2 different characters to make sure)

also make sure you are appling the Gen's texture to the gen before you apply NGS2 to it

  • I'm getting the whitening effect that is shown in takezo_3001's post. I have to do the same thing Will mentions and adjust the glossiness and other settings (although I think Will has the opposite problem that it's making it darker).

Most of that is also due to me using earlier iray settings for V7/Lee 7, while Rune7 and the newer 7th gen characters have the updated iray settings.

I'm not using legacy materials and they still appear white. They look drunk with shiny red noses.

can we get some images, to see what you are getting.

  • I played around a little and it also looks great on the Constrictor. I used the Genesis2 dark skin settings on the Burmese Phyton and that works great.

Beige and brown, we're all pretty much a variant of the same color, especially when so many tonalities are laid out like that!

    Thanks anyway.

I continue to be impressed with how much life this product is infusing in old items.  Here's a quick test on Toadz's freebie character Tasha White for V4 (from DeviantArt).  The brows still need updating, obviously, but the skin looks amazing.

I don't know if anyone else still uses the Generation 3 figures, but here is David 3 with Jepe's Bodybuilder Morph and Displacement Map.  Unfortunately, I don't have a displacement map for the Generation 3 figures' heads/ faces.

For those interested, so many of my tests have ended up on the questionable end of the "Not Safe For DAZ Forum" scale... nudity will tend to do that... that I couldn't post them here, so I've ressurected my old DeviantArt page as a place to display them without having to resort to weird cropping or other cheats.

This is happening to me too.. I'm getting nice results when it renders but I was wondering if I was doing something wrong/different.
(my current solution is to create a geoshell of the figure so all the limbs are visible while working on the posing)

I agree, this would be better off as an update to the product, and not need to manually install.

    @gypsyangel
Your new Mace character (Great by the way) is what got me to try the manual script install, but I see you also had a problem adding the shader to the gens.

It would be nice if there was a 'scale all micros instances' thing. I often find I like to have template 2 & 3 at 4x tiling.

It's not THAT time consuming, but it'd be nice.

  • Can someone confirm that with this new "Manual fix" this product is working fine with genitalia for G3 characters? so far i've only seen very few and mixed comments regarding this, i just want to see if it's worth buying this product and if it'll be a straightfoward process to have the shaders working on genitalia, or it'll require a lot of manual adjustments, etc Thanks

For me, the product has been working more than fine; the one exception is a quirky one... GypsyAngel's new Mace has Anagenisis textures include but the gens never quite worked properly... it is an odd but unusal situation so I will say I'm an extremely happy customer.  You should also remember that you can use this as a launch pad to further customize the textures.  I have use it with Macro eyes, and a vein product, for example.

In general, they're working fine for me with the DAZ-brand anatomical bits and my DeviantArt page has examples of both G3F and G3M.  The alternate solution for the off-brand gens is still a little buggy and I will often get faint black lines surrounding the edge of the geograft.  Fortunately they're so fine that when they do occur it just takes just the lightest hit of the healing brush to make them disappear.

After some experiments, I've found that, with tattoos and similar, using the un-tattooed skin on the Top Coat maps produces a fairly nice look (otherwise the tattoos look just-done, and engraved if you are using them in the Top Coat Bump)

    Nice tip, Will

  • I'm really liking this product so far. I'm really glad I bought it! But is there a guide somewhere that could indicate where to tweak things? I only found the ReadMe file but there weren't any instructions that I could find (like in some other products). So far, I have been just messing around with it whenever I have time after work. Wanted to share an example.

    Figure: Genesis Battle Orc.

    1. Default skin just converted to iray ubershader.
    2. Default skin converted to N.G.S. (no tweaking of anything) - NGS II script for G + Pores High Level + Lips Gloss Male
    3. Tweaked the skin in photoshop (sharpening the texture, adding the scars, changing the skintone, etc.) and then used - NGS II script for G + Pores High Level + Lips Gloss Male

I'm floored by the results so far. Thank you so much for the amazing product Dimension-Z! Can't wait to play more with it!

Can you tell me how you tweaked it in Photoshop? Did you mean you tweaked the skin map in Photoshop first? Then used NGS? :)

    Hi, @unknownmystery45

What I did is: I put the skin in photoshop, added the scars, adjusted the color (contrast, vibrance and used some gradient maps). Then I ran an HDRI action on it to get the pores to pop. So the end result in photoshop in comparison with the original texture looks like this: *Edited, I'd been advised to put a picture of a closeup (zoomed in area of the texture) so I keep within the rules. Thanks for the heads up @L'Adair (didn't know how to reply to your private message, since it doesn't yet appear on my inbox here, only on my email D:)! Thank you for the heads-up and the welcome message :D, btw!

Original on the left, tweaked on the right.

I hope you can make a video tutorial or a more detailed tutorial for new users like me :) because I'm also new to photoshop but thank you for replying! Do you have any other tutorials, you seem to be really good :) by the way how did you do the HDR? :)

  • Hi @unknownmustery45, thank you! I'm an art director, so I've been using photoshop for years! I'm new to DAZ, though. So far, I'm loving it but I still have no idea what I'm doing half of the time. So, I end up rendering things and then finishing the details in photoshop haha.

Sadly, I haven't made any tutorials D:, but you can always check the ones over at DeviantArt: http://www.deviantart.com/browse/all/?section=&global=1&q=photoshop+hdri+tutorial.

I truly wouldn't mind sharing the altered skin with the community, but I'm not sure if it's allowed (since I simply tweaked Antfarm's skin files). Perhaps someone knows how to go about it or what the rules are?
