Being able to assign unique colorid to all selected objects and/or to all selected surfaces in a secen would be most useful.  Thanks for continuing to tinker with this!

Sure thing. This always was a project to support my artwork and getting back into the art brings up little things I want to improve.

For any of you wanting to try out the ColorId assignment scripts, send me a note. I'm not sure when I'll get the other features completed for the "official" update as of yet. Real life (and full time job) time constraint sort of things.

That's pretty much the origin of my WTP shaders. ;)

One of the upsides of this product:

PWToon, and several other similar things, fail to outline the boundary between opaque and transparent portions of clothing. Like, say, dresses where dress length is handled by cutting parts of the dress out via transparency.

LR9K's colorID outlining, on the other hand, handles these elements properly.

I just bought linerender9000 and need any good tutorials on how to get good line renders like in the photo. This software should have came with at least a video tutorial.

Check the faq, it has several explanations & links to user-created documents as well.

    Awesome product. Thank you.

    I appreciate that. Nice render!

Is there an option that just renders everything as one pic, or do you have to render the outlines seperately, and then assemble them in photoshop?

LR9K is very versatile, in a single setup screen you select which cameras and render engines you want to create the various and multiple images AND in the composite section you identify which of those images you want to combine into a single image.  So yes you need to first render outlines but then LR9K combines them into a single composite image, therefore, no need for Photoshop. You can also use previous render images in your composite image so it can act like a separate compositing app.

So, I am wondernig, how do I get clear black Fresnel outlines in the hair, clothes and body?  The outline surrounding the figure does work no problem, but I am hoping to allow for clear Fresnel outlines within the figure.  Every time I applied the Fresnel outlines, the renders came out horrible.

I read just now, in another post in this thread ,something about Line Output, and I am wondering how to make the Fresnel and lines clear enough to look appealing?

I feel as if pwToon, while it is good, may be nothing compared to LineRender9000.  I have to find out how to use the line output function.

I was trying to explain yesterday, but nobody responded.  What settings would I have to use in order to get a result ike this in line output, as shown in the quoted graphic?  And if I were to use barefoot characters, what settigs would I have to use in order to have no blurring between toes?

Check the faq, specificially the question "What settings do you use in your cel-shaded style?" There I detail the settings I used in the promo images along with a few other tidbits. Hopefully that gets you close. Honestly getting good Fresnel lines takes a bit of play with Line threshhold and Line width, in my experience.

  • Hello everyone.

I encountered some issue with LR9K. I had to reinstall the system on my PC. And after that I can't get outlines renders. LR9K generates only source files like the one I’ve attached. I also get this message in render process window:

    3Delight message #143 (Severity 2): D2004: failed to open display driver 'C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4/displays/png.dpy' (display driver returned '4')

    Can anyone help?

  • Come on, kind people. I reinstalled videodrivers for 5 times and Windows for 2 times. Tried 4.10 and 4.12 DAZ versions. Now It doesn't even save the source files. I don't know, what to do.

I've definitely encountered this error before but I'm not yet remembering everything about it. Do other display drivers work? TIF for example? I'm wondering if it's isolated to the PNG driver.

Edit: It occurs when the filepath for the output file (image file to save after rendering is complete) is invalid. 3Delight will complain that the display driver doesn't know how to write the file.

For those, who can catch the same problem I will give the solution om the issue, wrote in upper post.

The destination folder for your LR9K renders mustn't contain non-Engish letters or characters.

Once again I want to thank djigneo for the great product and support. You are awesome.

Hi again! I encountered some problems with LineRender9000 lately. For now I use only Edge blend for my purposes. Then compose it myself.  Every time I launch the script, it crash the DAZ when the rendering is done. It isn't the critical issue but sometimes it bugs me. But lately the script began to crash right after the begining of render. Only on some scenes. I noticed that when I don't use Color ID the render doesn't crash until the end and I get the outline picture. But in this case render takes 20-30 times longer time. That's a real waste of time. I can't afford (((.

Investigating, thank you. I think this might be my first bug...

Edit: It's caused by conditions where a surface material has a property named "Diffuse Color" but that property is not a Color property. Fix is being tested.

Started to watch the new tutorial videos and learning some good tricks.

FYI: Session 2 about doing line art for People does not install properly, tried both DIM and Manual.  I submitted a ticket.

Looking forward to watching Session 2.  Thanks for these tuts!

FWIW, a couple of us submitted bug reports to DAZ and the full file-set was pushed out a few days later. I believe we're all back on track now.

Watching the master work w/ his tool - as he described the paradigm and workflow approach to its use for specific effects was very very en'light'ening :)

    cheers,

I'm really enjoying playing with this product. Once you get the hang of it, you can do almost anything. For anybody who wants to use Daz Studio to create and color your own cartoons, the ColorID feature does the flatting for you. It's brilliant.
Here's an image I am playing with.

Does anyone else have issues with the LR9K ColorID parameter not appearing in the shader tab?

For example, I will load a scene and then set the render engine to scripted 3delight and then select LR9K for the render script.

The LR9K ColorID parameter will not appear for some clothes in the scene, but will appear for props.

It could be called something else and it can appear somewhere else as well, but still part of the shader/surface.
