hello
I have used Look at my hair reading the user manual

For now when i am in the look at my hair interface , i have no problem using the parameters except one thing :I cannot resynchronized like i see at the page 27 of the manual because i cannot see this big large button as i see on the manual (Where is this button ?)
When i export the fur (using some presets on the mi cat for example) i see it (the fur on the cat for example) on the DAZStudio 4,5 interface but when i try to rendering ,using the setting at the page 33 of the manua
DazStudio crash or give me a message saying '' unable to render ''

I try many examples with same bad results and finally i cannot render nothing using Look at my hair

What i missing ?

I am using the last version of DAZStudio on a new system (windows 7 pro 64 bits,32 gig ram,GTX 660 videocard ,I7 3770

Thanks

You will get better and faster answers fot LAMH in this thread.
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/381/

For me the not rendering issue was this, do not Exit LAMH just minimize it and then render.
The Sync Option only pops up if you go into DS and repose or Morph your figure.

    I hope this helps...

Hi Martial, I've noticed this thread only now: have you been able to overcome at the issues? Make sure LAMH is not closed when you render.

Hello, Your product looks great. So great that I went ahead and bought it, but so far I can't get it to work. :(
I downloaded and installed 15548_DS4_LAMH_1.0.0.0_Win64. The plugin installed fine and started up for the registration. I went throught the hoops of getting the three numbers, but every time since, it freezes up Daz Studio 4.5.1.6, I get the little Please Wait box, and then the crash report.
I put in a Help Center Request (Request #123266). The plugin shows up fine in About Installed Plugins. I've tried everything I can think of including reinstalling the plugin. Any thoughts?

Thank you very much Shawn, very appreciated. I'm quite sure the issue is an outdated driver for your Intel GPU, I sent you instructions to update it. :)

Got the email you sent and I'm in the process of updating the drivers. The file is larger than I thought and it might take a while, but I'll make sure to update you ASAP. Thanks for the quick support! If I had any doubt about buying your product, it's gone now!

Thanks to Alessandro for his quick and acurate fix. It was my drivers. Thought they were up to date, but they weren't.

Now I won't be able to get any sleep tonight while I play with LAMH!

Why instead of making such a harsh and uneducated statement, you dont provide details about what's the exact issue?
What means "it doesn't show" ? Isn't in the Create menu? Or else?
Please PM me or Kendall and we'll try to get you up and running, if you willl.

First It was not harsh at all what I said. When you install a plugin you expect to see it. It is there in the HELP ABOUT PLUGINS list . That is it it is there and nothing else. No window to call it up, no button to click on ,. no nothing . So harsh would have been what I was really thinking not what I actually said that was rational. I use Cimema 4d and May and trust me hair is not a problem at all. I bought this because I wanted to do more in Daz other than use it with Zbrush. Now that is exports in MDD it is more useful all around especially with decimator. However this PLUGIN if that is really what it is is so far a total joke. No explanation should be required. You click on it ( IF IT WAS THERE TO CLICK ON, get a menu use it and be on your way. If it does not work that simply then it is a waist. If you have guidance then grate but how are you going to guide me on something that isn't there?

Then I could try to guide you. Did you try to reset the workspace, since sometimes it may happen that some Studio items are not displayed?

    Menu Window->Workspace->Select Layout->Accept

That should restore items that are eventually missing from Studio menus. Check it there is "new Look at my Hair" object in the Create menu.

Thanks for the reply and assist but I already figured it out. Wil play with it tomorow and see how it compares to hair engines of C4d or Maya or even Carrara. If it is at least as good as Carrara then it will be woirth having. It looks like it is very complicated to use and that is not good but like I said I will play with it tomorrow and see.

LAMH is great and seems to be working without any problems with me. The only issue is that I need the hair in .obj format to render in LuxRender. Sometimes the hair (on objects) comes out thin (not dense) even though I set it to full density.

See the vest in LAMH and the Vest in DS? The .obj fur on the vest is far less dense then that in LAMH. The armbands have the right density though. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi Jake, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying LAMH.
The hair density slider used in LAMH is only affecting the hair preview: so it won't account for exporting hair.

When you export hair, you need to type the desired amount of hair directly in the "hair quantity" textbox. See attached image, I typed 120000 and pressed ENTER. That will be the total number of hairs that will be exported and rendered in Studio...

If it's not clear or you need more clarifications please let me know.

I did do that (I typed in as many zeros behind the number as possible), I even re-did the hair, exported it to DS (setting everything to the highest setting) and it still came out less dense. See my DS viewport shows the hair as if its just guide hairs (this is the .obj and not render man export), while LAMH shows the hair super dense.

I tried to make the Zebra with full body hair and it came out with the minimum density of hair (1 million hairs quality). Does the high density hair amount only work with small objects or is there some option I am not clicking on?

From the second image, where you typed 1000000, I believe you didn't press enter because I see the cursor still active inside the textbox. Am I wrong?

I think that is what was wrong. Now I know to hit enter before exporting it. Thanks!

Very good. That's actually a bug that has been addressed in upcoming 1.1 update. Sorry about that.

Question as I am used to working with Maya and C4d for hair. I want to add hair only to the head. I would normally select the polygons needed and grow hair then use dynamics, set dynamics then arrange as desired. I have not had much time to play with this yet so maybe I am missing something but how do you select the polygons you want. IE the HEAD of V4-v5 etc? I would like to use the selection as a separate CAP as a child to the head. I do not really want to import the whole V4 or v5 etc. figure into the hair program that would be a waste of resources unless it is necessary for collision detection with the body. Any idea? Will continue to play and follow the tutorials but like I said this is FOREIGN to me and not at all like C4d or Maya or 3ds or any other program not even Carara.

    Hi wjamband,
When you open LAMH, first "import" the figure using the first icon in the top row of the right column (arrow pointing to paper). Then either you will get a dialog (more than 1 object in the scene) or your object will appear. At this point you are in "Follicle" mode, and you should see your object as a mesh. Click on the polygons you wish to put hair on (they will turn RED). Once you have them selected click on the "grow guide hairs" icon in the styling section (right most icon first row), it looks like 3 hairs. This will create the guide hairs that will determine how the rest of the hairs act.

At this point, the interface will put you in "Styling" mode, where you can style your guide hairs.

There are many video tutorials linked from http://www.furrythings.com that will help you if the included manual doesn't.

    Kendall

I have Maya, C4D, Carrara, and 3DS Max and have no clue how to make hair in those programs. I got LAMH and I picked it up in one week. I can imagine a better layout (using tabs, one for importing, the next for selecting, the next for styling, the next for tweaking, and the final for coloring) but its good enough. Since it only does one thing, it can't be "foreign". Its much harder to use Maya and the other programs than LAMH.

To make the easiest hair quickly, use a hair cap that comes with some of the models you bought in DAZ, like Cesar skin texture for M4, which comes with a cap that you can turn transparent. You can use the mesh to grow hair on instead of the entire character.

See picture below. Click on the paper with the arrow pointing to it, then click on the icon that has squares dark and light. This opens a box that allows you to select follicles by each surface. Just click add. (You can hide body parts too). Then click the hair button (three strands on it). Then style and put it on you character. That simple.
