Figure + Hair dead horse me thinks...

  • lol... would you pay for two things if you only wanted one (the cheaper one for example)?

Are you saying that it's only (mostly) DAZ that create derivative characterss based on iconic figures? If so that makes the 1 for the price of 2 argument even worse!

I really hate it when people try to sell me two things when I only want one! I don't think I'm alone in this.

"So Sir, you want to buy a pair of jeans? Yes, certainly, but you must also buy this pair of trousers!...... No... I just want the jeans!  Yes, but you get a discount when you buy the trousers with the jeans.  No.. I just want the jeans! I don't like the trousers, I won't wear the trousers... I just want the jeans!!!!"

    :D

If you want the look of a shape that is built on one of the iconic characters then you do want two thing - the iconic shape and the additional shaping in the character. Obviously if that's the only reason you want the iconic character you will have to weight the value carefully, and may well decide it's too pricey.

Do you ever bundle both together and would you?

Haven't looked at our store, eh?  Like half of our releases are either bundles or accessories added to characters.  That being said, only the big bundles do we get a hair maker involved.

  •  I actually did and believe it or not, I didn't get the correlation between TWO content providers - even though your banner has TWO people.

And...and...it just hit me that you are on the left and Darc, another vendor is on the right.

I missed that in the FWSA listed title before a sale item too, although the letters didn't make a perfect acronym for the creators.

    I'm learning.

This one ,I should have seen.

So now, would you be willing to open up and let ANY vendor bundle your stuff with their products?

Not ANY, quality is all over the place, even here, and I value my reputation.

(Darc is my husband.. not sure we really qualify as two different people. LOL)

avxp, you don't mean that ALL characters should come as bundles, do you? What if I want to have the figure, but don't like the hair and/or the clothes? As IsaacNewton put it, people don't want to pay for something they don't like. I know this problem from some base figure bundles, and in those cases I am very happy that Daz has the figure-only option. And, as many others, I like to make my own morphs from PA or Daz characters and almost never use any of them out-of-the-box. So sometimes I buy a figure only for its skin. What should I/we do if we had to buy hair and clothing for every character? There are lots of wonderful hairs and nice clothes in the market, and a plethora of freebies, if you want to save money. And there are lots of PA bundles in this shop.

  • That's a good question. If I just go be my desire, then yes, every character should come with SOMETHING.

But that's a philosphical question. Lol. When I see a new figure- even the new Elijah 7.

I approach that as buying a new CHARACTER to add to me scene. THAT GUY, RIGHT THERE!

That's how my mind works and worked very hard in the beginning.

I used to buy characters and go look them up and hate that they started out bald and I had to go find their hair myself.

Worse when they would show up as a SLIDER OPTION inside of another character. That used to infuriate me.

    --------

Then I learned what morphs were and that you really weren't buying another character per se, but more or less, dial settings with some alternate skin (maps).

When that sunk in, I was shocked to discover - I aint have no hair. Twelve different women figures, 3 useable wigs. lol.

I still have the feeling that figures should come with hair. I have seen all the arguments against or at least why it's not as easy as it sounds.

And so, I think I should ALWAYS have the option of getting a figure with hair. Have lots of wigs? Don't need any more Dos? Sure, then, make teh stripped down version available.

Elijah 7 does that. He's got the stripped down figure, bare minimum and he's got bundles. I think in-between is figure + hair.

I don't know if a new term like "Pairing" or "Deluxe Figure" is needed to make a distinction, but yeah - I would like, if possible for figures to come wih hair.

What hair? Probably the one from the Promo pics.

Meh. You want that. Plenty of other people kick a fit if a hair comes for both male & female (aka 'bundled') because they don't want to pay for both. As it is right now, plenty of figures come with hair bundles. Check out OutOfTouch's page. http://www.daz3d.com/outoftouch Extremely morphable hair, usually available alone and with a bundled character. The solution to your issue is to focus on the vendors who already do what you want and regretfully let the ones who don't slip through your fingers.

  • The hair, clothes, lighting, posing, etc. are "serving suggestions".

  • Insane what that guy has done. He's got some crazy men's clothes too. wow

Thank you for that link. Wishlisted and bookmarked.

  • Finally fate has smiled on me and hair(s) are on sale for the PC members.

I'm getting this OOT hair too.

Then after I build my library a bit, I can stop whining over this.
