Room Creator 2 - Free Updates/Stairs & Balconies [Commercial]

Hi everyone,

Room Creator Stairs & Balconies is now on sale. This is the 2nd Expansion Pack for the Room Creator 2 System and is a free upgrade to anyone who purchased Room Creator Expansion #2.

I'm also releasing free updates to Room Creator 2 and Room Creator Exteriors, and both these packs will be offered at a 50% discount for the next 14 days. Here are the main update points.

Room Creator 2
All .daz scene files and data folders have been removed from Room Creator. The Material and Pose presets are still included in a separate DS installer, but figures and props are now loaded from the Poser directories. The constant changes to Daz Studio have caused a number of problems with .daz scene files and I will no longer be including them in any products.

Poser figures and props now have accompanying .DSA presets so they load in Daz Studio with all materials correctly applied.

The folder structure in both Poser & DS installers has been updated to match my other products. All Room Creator folders are now a subset of the main 'Maclean' folder.

The Daz Studio 'RCQuickPose' Toolbar script has been updated to work correctly in both DS 3 & 4.5, and 4 new Ytrans actions have been added.

All DS presets have been updated to version 3.1 and work correctly in both DS 3 & 4.5.

Room Creator Exteriors
All .daz scene files and data folders have been removed.

Poser figures and props now have accompanying .DSA presets

The railings figure has been split into 3 figures - fence, railings and wall. This is due to alternate geometry issues in Daz studio.

The main roof and small roof figures have been updated to prevent a switching geometry crash in DS 4.5.

Room Creator Stairs & Balconies
This is a new expansion pack with various balconies, fire escapes and staircases, plus a couple of other 'industrial' pieces such as walkways, ramps, doorways with shutter grills and a set of scaffolding.

With this release, the old Room Creator series is now defunct and all packs have been replaced with updated versions. In future, I'll be doing smaller add-on packs (for things like extra doors and windows), and generally adding anything which wil expand the system.

Apologies to all for the delayed release of this pack. I hope the fact that it's free will compensate. If you have any questions, post them here and I'll respond

    DItto'ng this! Frustrating as it can be keeping up with DAZ's relentless pursuit of new'n'improved, since DS4.x I'm using things with meta-data first and those without a distant second if at all -- very happy to see these updated.


    MacLean, FYI: although I'm seeing the new RC set in the main store, it's not on your store page yet.

    Just a little confused. If I have room creator 2, does that mean I can get the stairs for free?
    More importantly, if I want the free update to creator 2, do I just reset my files? Otherwise, how do I get them?

    I am curious though. I still use ds3 only and I frequently use your material/shader settings on other items. The new updates won't remove my ability to do that will it? I miss the toolbar, but have learned to live without it and for Room Creator, I have additional texture sets (slums and industrial), so I just want to make sure that installing the new update won't mess up that stuff. Otherwise I will just stick with what I have.

    If you have Room Creator 2, you get its update for free, but not the stairs. That pack is only free if you bought the old Room Creator Expansion #2. I *think* you have to reset the files in your account to get the updates.

    Here are the names and sizes of the installers I got from DAZ. The final installers in your account should be the same sizes.

    5802_RoomCreator2_2.0_dpc.exe - 63.4Mb (Poser installer)
    5902_RoomCreator2DSCF_2.0_ds.exe - 7.12Mb (DS presets)

    9483_RCExteriors_1.1_dpc.exe - 97.5Mb (Poser installer)
    9483_RCExteriorsDSCF_1.1_ds.exe - 7.52Mb (DS presets)

    The presets in the updates to RC2 and RC Exteriors won't affect you in any way. They were originally done for DS 2, and I updated them to DS 3.1 in order to fix a few issues in DS 4.5, especially the ones which affect joint parameters. So you can use them in DS 3 or 4.5, and still use them on other items with no problems.

    The toolbar will now install properly in both DS 3 & 4.5. There was a script bug in DS, and the whole script had to be changed to get round it. You should definitely install it. It's really useful for Room Creator, of course, but you can use it to move any figure or prop, and I find myself using it all the time.

    Yes. All 3 packs work in DS 3, 4.5 and Poser 6 or later.

    And DAZ just mailed me to say they fixed the installer names.

    two more questions, sorry

    I just bought the stairs and reset and downloaded room creator 2. If I am only using DS3 do I need to install the ds companion file now or do I only need the poser file? I ask because my daz studio runtime is a separate runtime, and because I wondered if the ds companion file was just for ds 4.5.

    Also, how do we install that script for the toolbar? or are there instructions in the read me.

    Your stairs are awesome (and the potentials to add them to any building are just great). But mostly, I cannot thank you enough for updating that tool bar. I totally forgot how useful it is.

    Does Labyrinths from RawArt work with RC2?

    I'd like to get this product but apparently Daz store system disagrees with me. I placed 8 products into the cart including RC2, slums, industrial, labyrinths and RC exteriors but apparently I was not logged in. When I logged in the char showed 0 but doesn't allow me to add any new products to it. Clearing cache does not help. Neither does relogging...

    Oh well. Not the first sale I am missing.

    Be sure you're still logged in, then add something, anything, to your cart. Then view cart and the stuff you put in previously should still be there. Delete the extraneous item and you should be good to go.

    Can you give me some more information? Do you see all the folders? You should have the following.

    Poser/Runtime/libraries/Characters/Maclean/Room Creator/Room Creator 2 - Figures
    Poser/Runtime/libraries/Poses/Maclean/Room Creator/Room Creator 2 - Poses
    Poser/Runtime/libraries/Props/Maclean/Room Creator/Room Creator 2 - Props
    Poser/Runtime/libraries/Materials/Maclean/Room Creator/Room Creator 2 - Materials

    You should also have an extensive Help File and a tutorial in ReadMe's/RoomCreator2Help. It gives the location of all the folders.

    Nothing has changed in the UV Mapping, so Labyrinths (and the other RawArt packs) will work exactly as before.

    Which product? Both Room Creator 2 and Exteriors come with extensive help files and a tutorial, but Stairs & Balconies doesn't (Mainly because there isn't anything to explain).

    You can find them in the ReadMe's folder.

    Edit - The DAZ readme should have this line - 'Please consult the very detailed Artists Help File for information on using this product. ' - which links to the help file.

    If I may, I would love it if you were to develop a Room Creator add-on for creating Sci-Fi rooms. I would definitely buy that!

    I'll keep it in mind. I'm not sure how well I could do it. I'm not really a sci-fi builder, although I love sci-fi movies. Maybe I should go back through my collection and see if it inspires me.

    I reset my download for the original Room Creator Expansion #2 and only received what looks like the original files. I can tell since it only includes the RSR files instead of PNG's.

    Do owners of the original expansion packs get the free stairs by resetting the Room Creator 2 files or some other way? Resetting the Room Creator Expansion #2 gives me two zip files. One is a PDF and the other is as explained above.
