I agree. My P4 barely goes over the minimum to run DAZ 4.0 32, with only 1.5Gig RAM. You work with what you got.
Here's my second entry :-
Gate Keeper
Stonemason items used:
Gothic Construction Kit
Software used:
Poser 7
Stonemason, sorry but I didn't notice that my entry was in PNG format and your required a JPG... should I edit the original post and attach a new image or create a new post to make it valid?
These are both phenomenal. Beautiful work.
Nice one, Kerya...reminds me of Jane Austen, my favourite author. Best of luck with it.

I do all of my renders in DazStudio 2.3, the most advanced version that will run on my computer.. then post-work in Photoshop CS2.. I try not to think about what I'm missing with Genesis, but then I look at what I'm doing with Gen 3 and 4 (and even sometimes Gen 2) and I don't feel so bad.
A little more sweat on my part takes the sting of the old "push the make art button" stigma..
So true Mike. All the older versions of models can be used and with a little reading and testing and experimenting, you get a better understanding of the programs and models that are used, even older versions can give you insight to the newer ones a person might not have realized before. Textures is the best way to improve the look of a model and there are such wonderful textures out there, free and pay for, that a person can use. I currently am learning how to use DForm to improve the look of models and the fact it's free in any version of Daz is great.
Here's my first entry...
Title: The Hunt
Software: DAZ Studio 4.5 and GIMP
Stonemason Product: Return to the Enchanted Forest
I feel a little guilty for taking this amazing, highly detailed set...and relegating it to the background, shrouding it in darkness, and keeping it out of focus. But it provided just the ambiance and mood I was looking for in this render, and I'm satisfied with how it turned out. I'm really enjoying seeing everyone else's entries (and non-entries). :)
My Entry 2
Title- 2036 Apocalypse
Software - Carrara - PSE11
Stonemason's Product - City Ruins
Thank you - and thank you to ghostdog645!
(Wow, I did get comments on a picture I posted! *blushes*)
Entry #2
Title: Good Morning World
-
Used: Planet Alpine
Rendered with DAZ Studio 4.5
Post-work (snow): Photoshop
Leap Of The Spider
DS4.5
The Dark Side of The City
Love the angle of this pic. The sense of height is palpable.
I don't usually enter contests but here goes.
Title: MINE!
Stonemason Product Used: Return To The Enchanted Forest
Stefan, I already put in 2 renders but I'd really like to put another in. I've been working on it for a while and I'm really happy with how its turning out.
Should I just defacto remove my other entries on Page 22, and Page 25?
1st Entry
"What Must Be Done"
Daz|Studio 3 (minor postwork in PSP9)
Modular Ruins http://www.daz3d.com/modular-ruins
"They just wouldn't listen. We tried to tell them, but now it's too late. We have to raze what's left of their city so the plague doesn't spread to ours. So many perished...If only they'd listened...!"
Love the angle of this pic. The sense of height is palpable.
Thank you so very much. :)
OK... this one is called "Pursuit", and its my version of an old Shadowrun image, DMZ (Downtown Militarized Zone).
I think the logic goes that if the .38 doesn't do the trick, the fireball probably will.
It uses Urban Future 4 and Skyrider. (And lots of other Daz products.)
It was rendered in Lux via Reality 2.5. It took 48 hours to render with all the light sources.
non entry - How the dino's actually went extinct
Here's my second entry.
Title: Between Heartbeats
Rendered in DS 4.5, with postwork in Pixelmator.
Stonemason products: The Streets of Asia, Return to the Enchanted Forest
The title refers to the idea that some elite archers remain so calm under pressure that they are capable of releasing their arrows between two beats of their heart, so as not to throw off their aim.
Thank you again, Stonemason and DAZ for this contest. Comments welcome, and good luck everyone.
Here’s my first official entry. :)
Title: The discovery
Rendered in Poser Pro 2012 and Vue Infinite 9.0
Postwork in Photoshop CS5
Stonemason products: Greeble City Blocks 2 - jungle ruins 2
a wish for a third in the series, please....;)
i thought it would be cool to balance a person from an Ancient tribe with some Alien advanced technological city...
thanks for viewing...
hope you like it! :)
p.s. please click for bigger
Ok...yeah...thats kinda good :P
hah...j/k Great job dude!

Awesome as always man. Truly talented you are. Some times I wonder why I try. But to not enter anything would be admitting defeat without trying at all. But who knows. this could be the time?
To those that also think they should not try when seeing image like this. I leave you with a quote I picked up several years back that can be applied to anything.
"You must always push the limits. Cause if you never fail you will never succeed." - unknown
48 hours??
Imagine if something was out of place? :O
Really came out nice though. I could totally see this in a game.
Nope.
There are some 20 light sources, all of which are ray traced meshes. By Daz standards, each mesh is multiple light sources, with hundreds of polygons, and each polygon is equivalent to 1 point of raytraced light in Daz. It all adds up.
I don't usually toss that many light sources into a render. But probably one of the best features of Lux is that you can adjust the light sources after you finish.
My PC was wheezing so much when it was rendering that I had to put a water cooler in so I could sleep at night.
Desktop resolution version of this is available here;

Stunning! Love it!
Inspiring is defiantly the proper word to use. Because of several artist here I have learned quite a bit. Specially learning scene set up is bout 10% of the work. lighting, camera angles, and post work takes up about 90%. To see what I have done in the past and compare to what I am doing now. WOW what a change.
My quote was to inspire new users to 3D to not give up. Because of this site I have artwork on 3 book covers. So someone likes it.
Good luck on your new idea.
Inspiration is a big thing...last year i bought dozens of books with masters..Joe jusko, Alex Ross, Greg Horn etc...im getting motivated by artists i read in the expose series...what made a difference in my art is learning to overpaint my 3ds. I got very lucky to have the nicest person and one of the greatest artists i have meet, Nick Deligaris...living near by.....the last 2 years im having painting lessons from him...you should definetely check out his work...its not just an awesome 2d artist..his 3d knowledge is beyond logic...he hasnt post a lot of 3d, but i have seen things...amazing!
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I have seen some of the artwork from these guys. They are good. Does Nick Deligaris have a site that you use or is the training with him in person?
