Found my problem!  It was a faulty ZBrush installation filepath afterall.  DS was looking in the wrong place for it.  But, you will never know this because the path is hidden from the user.  This area could be improved, because GoZ from the DS side doesn't even check to see if this path is valid or not when the "Send To ZBRush" button is clicked.  It just fails silently.

  • I used the same process for a Genesis 3 Male as I did for the HW cat and it worked for Genesis.

I used the same process for a Genesis 3 Male as I did for the HW cat and it worked for Genesis.

After purchasing the HW3D Big Cat I was now able to confirm your observations as well:

alternate shape morph for neck and body area created with "Move Brush":

    Confirmed.

For an unknown reason the HW Big Cat triggers the error message "Topology has changed" even when a proper workflow is used.

    - As far as I can tell the HW Big Cat does not seem to have any additional subtools.

    - The point count remained at 50375 points during the whole process.

    - When you choose to create a new object in the failed GoZ import options and compare it with the original one the vertices, triangles, quads, faces count is indicated exactly as the same in the Scene Info tab

    - - -

Point Count of the original object before GoZ:

    - - -

Point Count of the imported morphed object after GoZ morph creation failed and a separate object is created:

Tried this at least 3 times with 3 different morphs in different body areas.

-> Same result: Topology Error message.

Other objects are working without issue for me.

    - - -

    Speculation:

I can vaguely remember some forum posts that claim that GoZ may encounter issues when the objects have irregular topology.

But since the vertices, triangles, quads, faces count is indicated exactly as the same in the Scene Info tab before and after I do not know if that applies here.

    - - -

-> If you are interested in resolving this you may want to open up a support ticket.

    https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Maybe the creators of this product are interested in figuring out what is causing the error.

It would be interesting if that information would be shared so other content creators and customers can avoid the issue.

Maybe some changes could be made to GoZ to avoid the issue as well.

    - - -

In any case as far as I can tell the workflow used was standard.

Why that error message is triggered in this specific case remains a mystery to me.

  • I couldn't get help from the Daz 3D Help Center.

    "Hi Robert,

Please note that we do not have ZBrush to test this in. We do need to test this by exporting into and out of Daz Studio. If it works as it should on our end and we can't reproduce the error message, it would be an issue with the import into or out of ZBrush. This is beyond our support boundaries.

     Thank you for sharing.

I couldn't get help from the Daz 3D Help Center.

It could be that they are currently very busy working on other things and now try to prioritize the time spent.

Please note that we do not have ZBrush to test this in. We do need to test this by exporting into and out of Daz Studio

Why does DAZ3D not have a computer with ZBrush installed when they are responsible to release new versions of GoZ?

Are they just putting some code together for new GoZ installers without actually testing it?

Was this really meant the way it was written or is this some kind of missunderstanding?

For many software applications Pixologic includes the GoZ bridge as part of the main ZBrush installation.

However, for some reason the GoZ Bridge for DAZ Studio is not provided by Pixologic but by DAZ3D.

-> Without further investigation it is impossible to tell if the reported issue is a limitation

    -  caused by the topology of the object (-> Artist)

    - of the GoZ implementation in DAZ Studio (-> DAZ3D)

    - of the GoZ import export functionality in general (-> Pixologic)

    - - -

The example reported by Robert is a very challenging case.

It would still make sense to investigate that issue to figure out the cause and not ignore it.

    But... priorities, time available, etc...

    @ Robert:

If you still have the energy to follow up on this maybe try contacting staff at HiveWire3D.

Artists affiliated to them created the HW3D Big Cat.

Maybe they are interested that other artists can create morphs for their licensed animals.

Maybe they have the resources available to investigate further.

They are looking into it; it might be a welding issue on the whiskers.

This needs to be updated, please!

GoZ is not being recognized by Zbrush 2018 and Daz3D 4.10 when using GoZ Addon.

  • Solve it fast like this:
    Go to
    C: \ Program Files \ Pixologic \ ZBrush 4R8 \ Troubleshoot Help
    execute
    GoZ_for_ZBrush_Installer_WIN
open ZBrush and in preferences ... goz ... force reinstall

    and ready

I have force reinstalled several times and Daz 3D still does not appear as an option for me in the  GOz dropdown in Zbrush. Does  Zbrush 2018 not support Goz for Daz3d?
