Hahaha Yeah I feel you, a copy of zbrush is like $800, I believe its even more with autodesk products... Blender is actually great! You can basically do anything there from interior to detailed model :D Pretty cool I haven't yet get my hand on it but I should if I wanna do some interiors in the future laugh

I love the idea of blender, and I've tried to learn it several times, but it always makes my brain melt.  I just haven't been able to wrap my head around it for some reason

Hahah all these softwares are simply just way too complicated at start, and that has probably turned away many who are just curious and interested in it frown. I remember I spent like, an hour trying to find a "save" button in zbrush, it turns out there is only "save as", no "save" crying. Then I spent an hour learning the scene navigation method, which is different in any two software (Seriously why would they do that!?? *Slam table*) only then I could try to actually start doing something

Just a quick tip for everyone who has this.  If you have gotten the Olympia 8 pro or Beginners pack the character Sharah comes with SSS maps that can be used with this shader with no alteration, and she comes with her make up baked into the SSS maps too so you don't  have to mess with them either.  Plus they all come in Brow and No Brow options.  So it really is as easy as plugging in her SSS maps into the Translucency Chanel and perhaps changing the Specular map for her own to have another skin for this shader with no extra work.  You can use it with the original shader EcVh0 has as well.  This example shows the differences you get with Olympia 8's SSS (Face), Sharah's (Torso) and Victoria 8's SSS maps as well (Legs) with the original shader but the arms show how Shara's work with the pale shader too.  Sorry for the crappy render it was just a viewport proof of concept test that I screen captured to save time.

Thanks again haha! You are doing all the work for me I don't know how to thank you enough for these!

And three skin on one lady is really creative! laugh I bet she've been doing some weird poses on the beach to get no tan on her arms, some tan on her legs and lots of tan on her body! wink

Or the worlds most disastrous spray tan!  LOL  And just to save you a bit more work here is Sharah SSS maps used with the Pale shader all over with no post work.  Literally the only thing changed is putting the unaltered SSS into the translucency channel and swapping out the specular for her own (which probably doesn't even need to be done, it's just me being pernickety!).  Just goes to show that it's always worth checking to see just what is included in a characters maps.

Finally got a chance to try out the new shader, but I'm having a different problem.  Instead of black spots, I am getting blue spots.  I followed the tutorial in the user manual and set the gamma to 1.5, but nothing changed.  Any ideas?  "Draw Dome" is "on."

Thats odd! Never ran into this before, could you share a bit more details such as your enviroment settings, HDRI used, lighting in the scene etc so I can try to recreate it on my end?

  • I sent you a PM so a long list of (potentially bad) settings doesn't derail the thread.

This is the first product in a while that has the most unsual way of applying. As far as I can tell I have to apply it piece by piece to V8 Chloe, i.e. torso, legs, arms, face and there are templates for lips etc as well. Im doing this in the Surfaces tab with the Editor with the skin templates being located in the Shaders tab. This is the only skin in the Shaders tab and it only takes care of the base color not the transluceny base which remains the same as the original character, and i have no idea if its supposed to. I have never had to assemble anything like this before so I must be doing something wrong. I am used to double clicking single skin templates and it covering the entire figure, even 3rd party gentitals. Is this not the same for V8? I cannot find any literature for this either. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Doing it this way has yielded the 2nd photo but it should look like the first.

I would recommend posting in the PA's commercial thread

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/2674176/#Comment_2674176

as they will actively monitor that thread and may miss this one.  I can join your thread to that one if you wish.

This is the closes posting I have seen that explains how to use the Pale Skin. Can you explain EXACTLY what goes where and how, if you are not using olympia. I am using SC Chloe/Vic8. Thank you!

    Hi Vanishot,

I'm not 100% sure what it is you're doing from your post but to use this shader all you need to do to use this shader is bring up the surface editor as you have, click to highlight one of the surfaces (ie arms) go back to your content library and double click the option that corresponds to the surface you highlighted.  Do this for each of the separate surfaces and everything will be changed automatically.  You don't actually have to change any textures manually at all because the shader does it all for you and depending on your lighting you will get a result something like the one I've posted.  The first couple of posts in this thread explain what to do about makeup that is baked into texture maps like Chloe's but you may be better off just using a different LIE makeup for her to make things easier (something like the Extreme closeup range by Forbidden Whispers or the makeup from EcVh0' own Katarina).  One other thing you might find is if you are not using the 'dome on' option in environments so there is no background to the figure you may find that the render of your figure may be covered in black speckles but there is a fix for this.  You will see there is a folder called 'No Dome Fix' all you need to do is go there, go into the surfaces tab again and select 'surfaces' so that all Chloe's separate ones are highlighted and then go back to the content and double click the shader in the no dome fix folder.  That will correct the whole figure and get rid of the speckle.

I don't actually have anything official to do with this product, I'm just a user like yourself so I hope that I've explained things in a way that makes sense!  Good luck with everything and hopefully EcVh0 will be along to straighten out anything that I've confused you with.

    Peace and love

    Stuart

    Hi,

I've got a question - as I did not make the step to G8, I'd like to know if it's possible to use these pale shaders on G3 figures too, eventually applying manually or something ?

Maybe I missed some previous comment on that, but I thought it might be worth to ask.

    Hello!

Yes you can use the skin shader on Genesis 3 Female figures as long as the UV map is set to "Base Female" instread of their own UV! (such as "Victoria 7")

I think you can apply them onto the corresponding surfaces straight away since there isn't much changes on material zones!

    Hope the information helps smiley

  • thats nice, but not usable for vendors making a character commercial.- at no point it sounds, that the textures are not seamless- and for that its not good for a vendor of Renderosity, to fix them by myself- if i buy a Texture/Shader-Set for commercial,  whatever, i want to be sure, to get a seamless product. For Daz its not important- so before i buy in future, i will ask before i buy- so its useless
