  • The iBot nurse was just released at Renderosity.

  • So is it coming to DAZ? I'd rather buy the Daz version or support Daz, to be honest, but if it's NOT coming or not coming till X-Mas.....

Man, and I just grabbed the robot today...

I went from cheese and crackers to just the crackers...

    I'm not broke, I'm broken.

    This is an issue. lolz

  • I think Daz still requires exclusivity. Unless the artist chooses to withdraw it from Renderosity, which has happened, it won't be sold here.

  • BTW, I'm on my way out to buy chicken and Ramen noodles to hold me 'til next week.

If you have already upgraded to the Genesis 8.1 figure, there's this alternatives:

    AURA

    Pototype Xt4

I honestly think that once fully integrated prosthetic limbs and various cybernetic augmentations are perfected, you'll see perfectly healthy people "upgrading" their bodies... probably at first, the same way some people have surgeries to give themselves animal-like facial features or horns and eventually it will be more commonplace like a tattoo... realistically the only barriers will be cost.

I imagine the gateway will probably be some sort of innocuous cyber implant web interface that will allow people full VR immersion within a metaverse 4.0 environment...

The manga and anime series Ghost In The Shell is probably spot on with how people will eventually treat the technology, but I think the timeline is probably just a little further off.

Once that genie is outta the bottle, people will be more receptive of other augmentations and tech companies will wave enough money around that any medical ethics concerns about upgrading otherwise healthy body parts will evaporate pretty much overnight.

Forget it once it becomes fashionable.

    Fashion is a beeyotch.

And yes, as the OP mused, there most likely will be a market for second hand parts and lower income people who upgrade for more "heavy duty" applications will probably have a lot more wear and tear... I could also see people with a set of "work" arms and "weekend" arms for example... stepping out for a night on the town? Snap on those neon glow party limbs.

And none of that is even touching on when full cyborg becomes a possibility.

Why not to make androids look identical to humans? I strongly recall Isaac Asimov touched that subject somewhere in one of his robot/detective novels: the earliest androids were by law not allowed to be indistinguishable from humans, because it scared people, making them afraid they'd be secretly replaced by androids. It was only a while after the things that happened as described in the movie I Robot (featuring Will Smith) that these regulations were softened and eventually abolished. So, for someone coming from the Asimov angle, obvious unnatural androids do make sense.

The biggest benefit of being a cyborg is living forever so you can necro a 200-year old thread.

    I must've overslept. Since we're in 2217 instead of 2022. X_x

I think Cybrog heaven is very cold and dark, very very dark. And quiet, very very quiet..

  • There is the https://www.daz3d.com/battleworn-female-bot--genesis-3-and-8-female-texture-set

It is a texture set, with the bodysuit being part of the texture. However, you can of course put other clothing on it. There's also a Torso Only option for just the outfit. I also use the eye textures alone to add variety to my SF/cyberpunk characters regardless of gender (although not as much now that I have Milawa, Juan Carlos & Niko).

I think you could also use the G8 Arctec and Arcwar cyberlimb and head sets with this one but I haven't tried it yet.
