Etta HD for Edie 8         Slouchy Sweater Outfit  (Gen8F)        Pixie Pretty Hair (Gen8F)

I think the Pixie Pretty Hair goes well with older characters. The Slouchy Sweater is fine for a baggy top for Etta, but the leggings would IMO be better if replaced by pants.

Wonder what they updated with Monique 8, there's an update in DIM.   Quite a few actually. HDRI Clean Skies, MEC4D HDRI Gardens Vol 1,  Kallisto (Gen3 and 8), Goddess Minerva Outfit (Gen8F),  Pepper (Gen3/8), Instances to Objects.

I like that sweater on Etta. I don’t care for her nose or the eye texture....The hair is excellent too.

I noticed the eye texture too. It's not as detailed as what I'd like to see. Also, the face is a bit too deeply indented in the lower cheeks, depending on the angle. The first render they look too deep, the third one they are okay. It's also (of course) the lighting chosen.

Wow! She's gorgeous! Well, in a realistic way - you know what I mean...

ETA... Didn't notice the eyes at first. Needs @DivaMakeup help! :)

So you can see this out of the box. Be aware the 50's Fabulous Morphing Chair  wasn't quite so fabulous out of the box with a man. To get his feet on the floor for a regular sitting pose, the chair would have to be raised. Some scaling here and there will address it, or extending the legs of the character so they're more in front of them. I'm checking now to see if there were chair legs morphs, back in a few.

Edit: Okay, there's a cushion tall which will put them up a few inches. Wouldn't have been enough with just that option (you can always undo the parameter limits, but I think any more height than the parameter would look a bit funky.)  Style 5 makes the entire chair larger. There isn't an extending the chair legs option that I could find. They are not selectable for morphing, only for surfaces.

The chair does have a lot of fun shapes, and the seat morphs to indent. I think with the combination of Styles sliders and cushion morphs it is workable. Just be aware out of the box may need some tweaking for taller individuals.

FWSA Zander HD (Gen8M)  reminds me of Paulo Benedeti  when the facial hair is applied, except he doesn't have thick enough eyebrows (or facial hair, and it needs to be darker) with the option I used.

I really like Osher Hair (Gen 3M/ Gen8M)

It's a futuristic floating chair!  Zander looks good.

Yeah i dont understand the furniture proportions, I wish they’d standardize character heights so furniture could be made to fit. At the very least those legs should expand so he can sit on the chair normally.

I submitted a bug report on Monique 8 yesterday. Loading the character caused a missing file error. Maybe they fixed that. If so, it is probably because someone reported it earlier.

My impression from trying out furniture at flea markets and so on is that mid-century modern (aka 1950s/1960s) furniture tended to be low-slung, and to require creative sitting postures for tall people (Median height for a USA man born in 1940 was 5'9", according to one study I've seen. Even shorter for one born in 1920). So the scale relative to your standard 6'+ Genesis 3 or 8 character is probably authentic to real world period furniture, if inconvenient. The last time I had to deal with this (seating Ahmad in furniture from one of the Deco sets) , I ended up bending his legs at thighs and knees more than the norm, and liked the result in terms of realism.

    OT

Nudge the cat that adopted me and my dog Emerald has blessed us with Nudgelets as of the 28th she had three but one was DOA the other two are doing fine.

Had no clue she was pregnant as she showed none of the usual signs until about an hour before she gave birth.

Yeah, I got a reply from Support about a product that had two files in DIM, one was supposed to be a Poser CF but wasn't labeled that way. The ticked was from JANUARY. To end of April is four months. Think what an easy fix that was- fourth months to do it.

  • barbultbarbult Posts: 24,257

The Monique update a couple days ago did not fix the bug I reported. It may have even been the cause fo the bug I reported. Don't know.

I love the Etta character, I bought her today. The nose in the render above though would drop a bit though, sort of giving the impression of a hook nose in a person that old. The cartilage in the nose & ears continues to grow one's entire life.

And now I feel guilty commenting on Etta's nose but having made no product review myself in this thread. frown

    So then here are two...

    1) I am using the 50's Morphing Chair with Gades in a Mother Goose nursery rhyme scene I am trying to complete & I had to enlarge it to 150% to fir Gades though. It is a nice chair though & makes a suitable substitute for that old Throne of Hearts chair in the PC+ that I bought and found doesn't hold up too well with modern UHD renders. I'd have to model in a bunch of extra details and edit the surfaces to hand that detail at UHD so 50s Morphing Chair it is. No renders with that chair yet as the scene is not done. I will post that render by Sunday

    2) I also have the recent Reading Corner freebie and it is very nice but I am using a G8 reading and it literally looks like a child sized adult sitting in that chair. The books and book case and the rest of the objects in that scene seem to be scaled for Gades and not your already somewhat larger than average G8 human models. Still it is a lovely set. I've rendered a scene with it and the lamp and lights in that set are very nicely lit. I supplemented the light though with j.cade's Painterly lights for the oderhead ceiling lights. I will post a render in my gallery after I redo the suit textures with Classic Suits: Shader Presets and Merchant Resources for those products by Sunday too.

    Absolutely

I was getting ready to have it done when she totally surprised me with these

LOL there's your names. Surprise 1 and Surprise 2.

    OR

What is this? and Not Another One!  (Wit and Nao respectively)

    OR

Oh my god!  (OMG) and simply- UhOh.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

Stacking has already been mentioned elsewhere, so not a surprise. It can be a challenge to figure out which move is in your best interest. Here's what I do.

When there's multiple sales that each affect stacking, I keep the qualifying items together, with the items they impact directly under them in the cart. I open a new window for each qualifying item (the ones that cost more and cause the others to discount.)  That way, I can add and remove the qualifiers and see what is doing what.

To get your bottom line of discounts- well, my way anyway!

    1. put the qualifiers in the cart and (let's say 3) items that get discounted. That total is A.
    2. take out the qualifiers and note that total.  B
    3. Subtract B from A. That is what you are paying for the qualifiers (in essence.)

    Example: My actual cart
With two qualifiers (I simply broke apart a bundle. Yep, it turned out cheaper than buying another bundle or more expensive product that was in the qualifying group) the cost was $38.21 in the cart, with the 3 items that went to 80%.

Without the two qualifiers, it was $21.94
$38.21 minus $21.94  is $16.29 difference, so that's what I am paying for the qualifiers. Which is $8.15 per qualifier. I can then decide if it's worth it, based on the number of discounted items I can put in my cart. Getting 3 other things or more, yeah, I'd say so.

Of course, you could always just take the number of items and divide it into the total, distributing the cost of the items evenly.  $38.21 divided by 5 means each item goes to $7.70 each. I like my first method better, because I look to see if that is a reasonable cost for those, to trigger other discounts.

Today, to easily spot which items are in multiple sales, like the April Showers which are 60%, just go to other sales and look for the 60%'s.

For the deals I tested, i did two from the Zev0 sale, then one new qualifying item from the Huge dForce sale which triggers the dForce items on that page, which are also in other sales. (again, look for the 60%)  That puts you at 80% off.  This has been going on already for a day, it's been hinted and discussed already numerous places, not spoiling anything,  so there's the math.
