So I've been working on my Project Shudu, whom I've been reluctant to share as she's been flirting with whether to 'come out' as digital or not.

But here's my interview for Harper's Bazaar US, I hope you guys like it!

Congrats! So I take it you are Cameron-James Wilson, nice work!

It's funny seeing the image and reading the article. I have been away from photography so long (college) and so used to 3D that I see things in 3D terms as opposed to real life more than I should and Shudu looks 3D to me, but then again to people not used to 3D I can see how she can pass for real, especially in the style and setting she is in.

BTW great skin and detail, is she yours or a purchase?

Congratulations on your interview and beautiful character!

I thought it was funny that they kind of compared your model to @LilMiquela - who, to me, doesn't look at all like a real model. Not like your lovely, Shudu. :)

There are some very minor "Tells", but you're right, most people don't work in 3D and wouldn't notice. I think she looks wonderful and quite close to real life. :) We're getting closer to more and more real looking 3D characters every day, and I think that's pretty awesome! Shudu is a wonderful celebration of that. :)

Thank you! Her current skin is an adapted Monique 8, which is really a superb skin.. just the lips were so incredibly pink!!

It's more that people don't know what you can do with 3D so they just assume it's retouched.. I've kind of lost touch with reality these days haha!

hehehe thanks.. I'm not sure what to make of Lil' Miquela, because she looks so obviously Daz'ed to me ha, but she has such a huge following, so really well done to her!!

Using a 100% digital model to advertise foundation specifically geared towards improving how human skin looks when photographed.

    Hmmmmmmmm...........

Congratulations on your exceedingly beautiful work.

I work in fashion and trust me... It's probably more accurate than half the adverts out there!! haha!

Jokes aside, no one asked me to do it, I made the image inspired by Fenty campaigns and their makeup and colours, I'm not even sure if they know she isn't real...

LOL it's a thousand times better if they didn't catch on, I think.

It's funny, I work in retail management and last week a coworker asked me about what I did in 3D, was it like pixar or disney. I pointed out several big makeup ads with cover models and explained, trying to replicate that image but with 3D and not photography then showed them the DAZ gallery on my phone. I believe they went and d/led DS later that night, LOL.

I have an interview coming up with a retoucher who has a big following, I want to try to stop people being scared and embrace the tech. Everyone just thinks that I'm trying to replace real models, but it's actually more of a way to express my creativity on my down time and hash out concepts for real life shoots. I think it could be a really powerful tool for many photographers...

  • Shudu is beautiful. Congratulations! It never occured to me using 3D models might be considered as trying to replace real human models. I view CGI as an outlet for creativity, the same as any other artististic medium.

Lovely. The jewelry around the neck is the only thing that doesn't seem real to me. But the figure sure does. Congratulations.

We're on the same page! hehe

    Thanks everyone!!

  • Awesome work! She looks close to real. You can really see something in the eyes. Which is the hardest part,  to cross the uncanny valley.

So weird, I was watching a video talking about that other instagram cgi model, last night. I hear it's an AI program that does all the words that are posted. The AI even will respond to Direct Messages and comments.

Yes, you should totally judge other people's art by if the female in it is "your type" or not. For sure, art should definitely be boiled down to if you want to date the subject or not...  /sarcasm

  • Well, if she's presented as a supermodel I sure can

Kudos! That's a great work and it shows that DS can go a long way in the right hands. And I guess the fact of how much is manipulated on the usual modelphotos needs to be know much more, so which better way to make people aware :)

She is a stunning work and I hope you won't get too many of the stupid haters.
