@Mollytabby That looks pretty darn close. As @daybird says, those couple of minor adjustments and you would be spot on. Nice for your first try.
I get totally engrossed when I start posing, too. There is like this zen state you can get into that just makes a person lose all track of time until you get the pose just right that I love. Make sure you save your pose for the future, not just your scene file. You can use your pose in the future for a starting off point or save partial poses when there is something you like about a particular body part like the hands or feet.
@daybird and @Knittingmommy , thank you so much for your help. It really helps to have someone else look at the figure. I'll work on making the adjustments and then get back :-) It might be a couple of days because of other things in my life. I've been saving the poses as you suggested, which is a good thing because for some reason one of my scenes re-loaded in completely twisted pose.
@Gallows - A very dangerous why indeed! The zebra's head/neck might need to come forward/down a bit. Overall nice improvements.
@Mollytabby - I totally agree with @daybird and @Knittingmommy. Well done. Just make those changes when you can.
Okay, after learning a lot and playing a lot and posting a huge in-depth explanation over on my Art Studio thread regarding the techniques I used to achieve this. I have decided to make improvements and enter a new and "final" final version of my first entry for this month, Firedancer. It took me a lot of playing, experimenting, and four render passes to achieve this. I think I like it better, but I'm such a noob.
Now, I'm getting back to the second entry I was working on. I'm running out of time.

@Knittingmommy Do you think you will have time to help me with posing the hands for my girl in the yoga pose?
@sueya Sorry, I got distracted with work and haven't had a chance to look yet. I will definitely take a look at this today and post by this afternoon. I'm not quite sure why the hands look off in your image but I'll see if I can figure out the best bones to work with first to get the right position so the hands look more natural.
I think you have overdone a twist. The best way to correct that, would be, to set the pose for the whole arm to zero.
For that right click on the right collar in the scene pane. Then move mouse to select and there to choose all children. (pic 1)
Then left click on parameters below and click on the small arrow with the lines in the left upper corner. There go down to zero and choose zero selected item(s) pose. (pic2)
Now only the arm should snap back to the start position. Start from the shoulder and try to copy the pose again. Look how the muscels showing up in the reference picture and try to copy this from the shoulder to the fingers. Go always in this direction, never pose hand or fingers first.
I forgot to show you some helplines I draw on the reference pic. Look at the angle and try to copy them to get a better result. (pic3)
I prefer your previous entry with the DoF. The colors are stronger there and the whole scene has great atmosphere.
Here all looks a little washed out and steril. Can't find the right word :/
Thank you, @daybird. I was tired of it when I submitted this, but I think I've got another effort in me. Since my pose seems accurate, I'm going to risk changing the camera angle and re-framing things. Maybe the result will be even better.
@sueya I think @daybird is probably correct. I think you have too much twist in the lower bones. You need to do most of your twist in the shoulder bone and work your way down. It looks like you have more twist in the wrist area than you need. I've included a screenshot of how close I got to the pose with my settings for the shoulder. You might have to zero your arm before you start with the shoulder joint but maybe not. If you start with the shoulder, you should be able to undo the severe twist as you work your way down the bone to a less severe twist in the wrist.
If you do wish to zero out the shoulder, the fastest and easiest way is to select the shoulder. Right click on the bone in the Scene tab and select Expand From Selected. Highlight all of those bones. Then, Edit>Zero>Selected Item Pose. That will zero only those bones you have selected and leave the rest of your girl's pose alone.
Please remember to save before you start messing around so you can always go back if something goes wrong. Let me know how things go. I'll be monitoring over the next few days. I'm so sorry I got distracted and couldn't get to this sooner.

Sorry I'm late again. Since I'm posting so close to months end, I'm just submitting this render for feedback. I decided to leave limits on despite some difficulty getting the right wrist into position. Hope the posed figure is close enough. Thanks for any and all feedback.

That looks good cathan. You did an especially good job duplicating the poses on the hands. I'm not sure there is really anything I can say about the pose. It's so close it could almost be the same picture. The left foot could possibly bend down just a hair more and it would have been exact. I'm not sure I'd change anything. It's a very nice render and an excellent job at posing. :)
I'm back :-) I've done some more tweeking as suggested. This is my next iteration for critque.
Are we supposed to get to the stage where we can put this into a full render? I've kept the today and tomorrow free if that is the case. I feel the need to use this pose as I've put so much learning into it .
@Mollytabby Yes, put your pose in a full render. Be as creative as you want. Your scene doesn't have to match your reference image. Only the pose needs to be as close as you can realistically get it since that is the challenge.
@cathan01_6e39852829 - (phew, that's a lot to type without error) I agree with KM, you've just about nailed that pose, except for the slight movement of the foot she noted. Otherwise, it's nearly impossible to tell apart.
@Mollytabby - The head might need to come back just ever so slightly, but not bad. Good luck with your final project. I might just be nitpicking tho'.
@Wanderer, feel free to nitpick as much as you want, lol. @Knittingmommy, I still haven't clue what I'm going to do with her ... I'll adjust her head and then start playing with ideas. This has been so rewarding and it's definately improving the way I move figures now.
@Mollytabby - Glad it wasn't a bother. Looking back at it, I wasn't very clear in my advice. I'm not sure it's that the head needs to come back as much as maybe just tilted up? It's close.
Okay, so I've discovered that I cannot trust what my image will look like during render at full screen because when it gets shrunk down, a lot of details get lost in the darkness. I'm sure someone will know why that is, but if anyone wants to see the full details of this image, it is best viewed at fullscreen or nearly so. As it is, it appears an unbalanced mess to my eyes, which was not so obvious during render. But at 10 hours and only 80% completion, it's time to get other things done. Daz has started doing this thing where if I use another program or web browser during renders sometimes it resets to first iteration, even if it's been running a couple of hours. I didn't want to risk losing everything, so I stopped it. I've retitled the work to reflect the new point of focus, and there's expository text to set it up. Not sure I'll get back to this one to redo it for the challenge, but I'm pleased by what I've learned anyway. I'm sure there's some postwork chicanery I could attempt, but as you've probably seen in my other such attempts, I'm not ready for prime time. So, almost all the elements are the same as previous versions, except for lanterns and another character. If only it weren't so dark. Anyway, if possible, please consider this as a replacement for my other versions of this pose.

@Wanderer I really like that camera angle! Nice!
@Mollytabby I'm sure you'll figure it out. :)
Thank you, KM. I'm struggling with it, but I appreciate your comments. I just don't know how to fix it. I wish I was here for composition. I know a lot of the principles, but actually putting them into practice is where I often stumble.
Just wanted to share, I discovered the different cropping tool layouts in Photoshop, and revisited my image using those tools. In particular, I noticed this:
So even though I thought I totally messed up in composition, it turns out that some of my instincts were close. I don't feel as bad now. Still, it needs some extra work. EDIT: If anyone wants to see the process and pain involved in fixing this, I've posted bits on my Art Studio thread here.
This is the final version of my image. I have managed to made some improvements to the arm poses.

Thanks for the feedback, Knittingmommy and Wanderer. I turned off limits on the foot in order to get it into position. Hope I got it.
Reference on right; Daz Studio render on left. Render still NAE; just practicing with posing.
Managed to get away from Crossout to make a bit of changes to my render for this month, It rendering as I type this so it should be up in the morning if I remember to do so.
(What happened was that Crossout had a big (2GB+) update. Got it taken care of, but figured I'd try and tweek things before I got too involved again.)
Here we go, would have posted sooner, but apparently there was a power outage early this morning and I had to render version b again. luckly I saved it after I made my changes last night. Don't know if I'll have time for anything else after I get home from work tonight, I've got an earlier shift tommarrow morning going in half an hour sooner then normal. If I don't post before Sunday, I wish those of you who celebrate Easter, I wish you and your families a happy one.
@ Shinji
Yeah, we had some pretty big thunder-bumpers here-- knocked out everything-- including my surge protector... Can't find your first entry, but going by memory-- you gave him some white or graying hair?
Out of time so this will have to be it. Think it's version 4
Change Log: add texture to 6 planes making up 'light box' for 3DL-- better reflections on goggles. Move light to bring out his face. Shadows... Can at least see rope's shadow now.
Enjoy easter holiday everyone!

Your right about the hair, but I also tried to tweek his head a little.
Also I like what you came up with for yours.
That looks now very dramatic! The light fits very well now. That was a long way from the beginning, but worth it.
You have take the pose and set her in a totally new contex. That is something I have to learn. To think outside the box.
I'm seeing some pretty good images here everyone! Nice work. It's the last day so if anyone has a final image they need to upload, today's the day. You have until Daz midnight which is MDT time or UTC -6. I'll be back later today to check up on everyone.
Here I am, struggling and straggling at the last minute, but I learned a lot. As Tynkere said, this will have to be it. Given more time, I would've done more and more to fix it, but here it is. I'm going to post information about the composition guides on it over in my Art Studio thread. It's the most postwork I've ever done on anything, with entirely new skills learned in the past 3 days, so please go easy on me. It's still dark, but I had to make choices. Also, I had to change the blurb I posted with my earlier version of it. It's far from perfect, but I learned a lot. Funny how I learned more about light during the posing challenge than I did during the actual lighting challenge.
