Always being logged out of Daz Forums....

Like many I subscribe to various forum postings to keep updated. I will get 4 or 5 to go visit. I open them all in my mail and click the link to go to the posting to start reading from. I am always logged out.

It never fails that after a little time since my last logged in, remember click earlier in the day or a few hours ago time, that I am NOT showing logged in and of course The Forum software doesn't know that I read and am up to date and ready for the next round of postings.

I can understand when going to order to require login.

The only option is to re-log in and then mark all forums as read. Is there a reason the forums log you out all the time? Is there something I have set in correctly perhaps? It really only occurs here for me.

As far as we can tell, it's random. Some people never (or very rarely) need to re-login. I can usually go several hours in an online session at DAZ before Weird Stuff™ starts to happen and I discover I've been logged out. Some people... are unlucky.

Deleting the DAZ cookies from your browser has been reported to help some people, but it doesn't work for everyone.

...I'm one of those unlucky sots who has it happen nearly every day. Annoying as the only sign in page that comes up is the one for the Store, instead of the Forum one, which has that annoying built in timeout function. It is now going on thirteen months since the new site was rolled out and this is just one of several annoying issues that still have yet to be resolved.

I don't delete the cache or cookies from my browser (Firefox), but I have the same problem: I need to login daily.

I'm okay with the forum, rarely ever get logged out, but every single time I go to the store, I am logged out. Now that is annoying. I start browsing and see something I like. I either try to add to cart or my wishlist and DARN! I'm not logged in. Or, I see the non PC prices which can deter me from adding to cart or wishlist.

Being logged out of store automatically happens with most on line stores I vist, and in some I have to relogin yet again after inputting my order as well, for security reasons, before the payment is made.

I used to stay logged in until I changed my email address
I can use the save form data feature of chrome so no biggie on pc but on android even though I ticked it, have to redo each time.

Have to note, same thing happens to me. Have not found any real or easy solution. I just grumble and re-log in.

Me too. Amazon and eBay won't let me buy something without entering my password after a time, but they keep me logged in for browsing, wishlist, etc for days...

It used to happen to me all the time, then I followed a fix someone posted, and I've been logged in ever since - over 6 months now.

Unfortunately, I can't remember what the fix was. It was something like 'Reply to a thread, but don't type anything, hit OK, and you get a page to log in'

Er.... sorry if that sounds useless, and the process probably isn't exactly like that. But whatever it was, it sure worked for me. Maybe someone will remember the thread (from around the end of 2012, IIRC).

    mac

Edit - I just tried the above and that's definitely not it. But it's something similar.

It's such a long time ago I can't remember the exact way it could be forced. I seem to remember the basis of it was trying to get to the forums from an ebot and getting a different login screen, one which doesn't normally appear. It had fields to tick to stay logged in as well as the fields for username (emaill address really) and password (same as store password). Was definitely a froum only log in screen. I know it worked for me when I found it accidently. The ebot has to be one that leads to a restricted access forum, I seem to remember,

I have no problem with it requiring my login to purchase they all do that, but as you said it doesn't log me out of the system. On here your logged out completely of the Forums and the Store. If I go to actually pay for something then I should be required to have a current login session.

After I posted, I searched for 'logged' and there were dozens of threads from last year on this topic. I checked a lot of them, but can't find the one with the fix in it.

We need someone with a better memory than mine - lol.

Has anyone tried my one of clicking on an ebot for a forum post, one from somewhere like MO which is limited access. That brings up the log in screen for the forums

That fix doesn't work any more mac, they changed it so you no longer get taken to that login screen, instead you end up back at the account log in, as a result you no longer get the permanent forum cookie, just the flaky account cookie.

i have had days when i get logged out of the store every single time i click a product link or the link to go to the next page of the store, pretty much every link in the store logs me out and i have to log back in again. That gets really frustrating. same happens on the forums. Some days are worse than others, it seems to be pretty random.

So glad they fixed the site, everything works sooooo much better now

    Bejaymac is correct.

You used to be able to permanently log into the forums by using the following:
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/member/login

But DAZ has now fixed this so that you are redirected to the generic login page:
    https://www.daz3d.com/customer/account/login

In addition to this, smileys are still broken; and does anyone know if DAZ fixed the ability to upload or change your user avatar? That feature broke months ago.

Avatars were fixed a while ago.

It may be best if you use a different format for the new avatar though, as some are finding that they won't change straight away in some browsers (caching issue) So what they are doing, if the existing avatar is a jpg then next one they load either a gif or a png.

interesting thing I found out today
    after a consistent pattern everyday
(if 4am in the morning Adelaide South Australia time can be called day)
I get logged out at this time
    even if on the forum
I can actually be logged out anytime on PC if offline but on my android it can happen mid post.
and not related at all to online/offline status
my android crashed about 3 hours earlier and I had to manually reconnect to my moden but I stayed logged in.
it is ONLY the Daz site too!
    odder utterly odder is THIS
    j3xj99h
I never used those numbers and letters as a password
    but
it appears in my email address with an unknown password everytime I am logged out.
    without fail.
even if I disable autofill, clear cookies, everything
    again
    only on the Daz site.
    on my android only.
    what is j3xj99h
    I really want to know?

If I was gonna take a guess, and I am, I would assume it is the Default Mail thing Assigned at start for your device. It should Default to Default after any crash.

Add the Device itself is set to Auto fill at Default so...

I haven't had the problem since mid-spring or so, but from my joining (beginning of Jan) to then, I would get kicked off around 11pm~1Am PST and would have problems until the late morning or so. I would be logged onto the store, but not logged on to the forums.

As for errors in general, I've found they tend to happen most frequently bet. 12~4AM PST (however, I don't know if timezone makes a difference or not), while Magneto or whatever the detestable server is called tends to choke on weekends (w. Sundays being most common)

I posted something about this recently... I have the same problem, it started about a month or two ago and is rather annoying... only 3 people responded and out of those, I think only one confirmed the same problem... To be clear, its the forum that is the problem, the store has always logged me out, so thats not really an issue.

Ditto to what Kyoto Kid said.

I just never bothered to say anything before as, we all know, there were more important bugs to work out....

    ....so....

....are those other bugs still being worked on, or can we finally have this little irritant fixed??

edit-->ah, I see someone pointed out the smilies are still dead, so I guess the logon issue will be fixed DAZSoon™
