Okay... so I asy we start a betting pool as to when GenX2 and the addon will release
I pick tomorrow
Dimension3D, you kept your cool quite well with your most recent post. Even though the guy above you tried to tone down his post with apologies, it was still rude, accusatory, and insulting. Kudos to you . . . and I excitedly await the release of this add-on.
This is one product I am not particularly worried about getting the best price on, it comes under the "need it now" category.
Just in time for March Madness eh? That works. Now if DAZ could get that 10% discount on Gift Certificates working I'll be all set for March ;)
I can't remember from last year, but were new items released during the March Madness sales? If not, then we may have to wait until April ... :snake:
After the release of Fiends Forever, I eagerly await the release of GenX2 so that I can get some extra morphs for the little Fiends. I don't care what it will cost because D3D's quality of work is always top notch.
Rock on D3D, you have supporters.

Er, yeah. That's kind of the point of March Madness. Last year's biggies were Aiko 5 and Carrara 8.5, but there were dozens of PA items both supporting those as well as the usual random things.

OK, good. All I can remember is I spent a lot.
Can I ask...Which products do you mean when you say add on? I want to make sure I either have already or what I will need to purchase when GenX2 arrives, which of course I will be upgrading to...it's a no-brainer :)
Dimension3D, as I wrote somewhere before in the forum, I can't imagine using DAZ without your fantastic GenX/iconic shapes and I'm willing to pay a BIG BIG VERY BIG PRICE for it. Your product is amazing. I can't see myself doing a such avanced program. It's so complicated and has to please everyone, and believe me, I know it's not easy.
I don't care if I pay full price or if I have some reduction, it's definitely worth it.
Best regards.
First of all, many thanks to everyone for your support. It's much appreciated.
About release date, sorry, there's nothing really new I can say, except that it's coming closer ;). Also, I don't know if March Madness will have any impact on the release, I do not hope so. But that's a decision of DAZ marketing.
The "add-ons" for GenX are the expansions for additional figures. Currently available are add-ons for the generation 3 Poser figures (V3/M3, S3/D3/F3, A3/H3, and a bundle with all of them). Together with the release of GenX2, there will be a new add-on for Genesis 2. And I'm working on a few more that I will announce together with the release of GenX2.
I just got my DIM versions of your past releases installed so I'm ready when this all hits. I think your work is always remarkable and you have cornered a part of the market no one else has. I'm sure the prices will be fair and WORTH IT!
Ok, if I've read things right, GenX2 supersedes GenX, so, if a GenX owner gets GenX2 then they uninstall the first one, install GenX2 and update the add-on's!? Is that correct!?
I'm sure all will become clearer when GenX2 is released....
CHEERS!
Whenever the H that is. With the way the DAZ store is run these days, they've probably got it penciled in for February 30th.
Oh well, hopefully we won't have to buy some lame piece of skimpwear and a purple dragon texture set in order to get a decent price during the March Madness mess.
Right. GenX2 replaces GenX. The old version of GenX and the add-ons should be uninstalled manually, the GenX2 installers won't do it. Not sure why, but this is how it is. There's no need to install the updated GenX 1.2 installers before installing GenX2, except if you prefer to use DIM to uninstall the previous version again.
For already released add-ons, you need to download and install the updated version for GenX2. Upcoming add-ons will require GenX2 because they rely on new features.
Gotcha,
Thanks for that.
As for the release date, just be patient! GenX2 isn't the only product due for release. Occupy your time with something else and wait for the email!

Perhaps they will just let us buy some purple dragon skimpware. Hmmm... I probably could actually use it :P
I'm trying to make a little sense of this.
I checked my product history last night, and I have, according to DAZ, "Genesis Generation X (upgrade from Gen 4)".
I want to purchase the version or add-on or both to allow me to convert my V4/Gen 4 characters to Genesis and Genesis 2 female. I have the Gen4 figure pack that works with my current product.
In terms of the "Gens", do I have Gen X, or Gen x2 at present? Daz using different terminology from this thread does not help.
What am I looking to buy (I already bought the Brooklyn Bridge)?
Thanks!!
And I must say, this program is OUTSTANDING and very well done!!!
...thank you for that information. Will the morphs that ar already transferred over to Genesis 1 with the original plugin be preserved or will you need to transfer them over again as well?
reelyor: GenX is the initial version you have, GenX2 is the upcoming version. The official names are "Genesis Generation X" and "Genesis Generation X2". I may also use GenX1 to refer to the initial version in contrast to the new one. And I may use GenX as the general term if the version doesn't matter.
To transfer morphs to Genesis 2, you need the upcoming "GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 2" (this is the official name). Because this add-on relies on new features of GenX2, you also need to upgrade GenX to GenX2.
Kyoto Kid: All morphs once transferred by GenX exist independently of GenX. So, the upgrade will not force you to transfer anything again. However, some improvements in the new version and the add-ons may give you better results, so it might be worth to transfer a morph again.
Thank you, Dimension3D! Got it.
...thanks.
I noticed that the straight INJ/REM character body/head morphs (like Thorne's Tommi or Sylfie) need to have their parameter ranges adjusted as they load in at 0.0 min to 100.0 max. I usually have to reset the slider range to 0.0 min. and 1.0 max. after transferring them and then save the change as an asset otherwise the range is too large and even the slightest adjustment can end up with some rather hideous results.
Is this one of the things that was updated?
Ah, that does bring up a request or question.. is there a way to tell the program to set limits automatically? I like those set and if I bring a bunch of morphs from Genesis over to Genesis 02 I don't want to have to do a 1 by 1 setting's change... yuk!
I will be waiting for this to come out I have GenX and made it so easy to transfer my Vicky 4 morphs to Genesis, now that I am using Genesis 2 I want to be able to do the same and have my Vicky 4 stuff on Gen 2.. :)
okay good think We didn't start betting pool I would have lost big time
That's what you get for being an optimist. The cynic in me leads me to believe it will come out a week before Genesis 3 is announced.
Kyoto Kid, RAMWolff: I think the actual version already corrects the limits if they are too large. That's what the "Limits" in the options are there for. No limits in transferred morphs should exceed these settings. At least, I made it just for the problem you mentioned.
When using "Create single morph", you always get a dialog where you can set the limits. For "selected morphs", use the transfer mode "selected morphs (with defaults)" to set limits that are applied to all transferred morphs, or use "selected morphs (with properties)" to get a dialog for each morph, where you can set amongst others the limits.

Lol don't say that with Genesis 2 being released from out of nowhere, I am not sure many could hack having to start the upgrade cycle again..
Waiting very impatiently!...just got texture converter and testing it out transferring A3 textures over to Genesis, works amazingly, now I need GenX2 to transfer A3 morphs, I have GenX but wanted to wait for the newer version instead of having to redo characters.
Thanks for the reply. I'm on a Mac so the location confused me since there's not a lot of stuff that installs in Appdata (which turns out to be (User)/Library/Application Support/DAZ 3D). Thanks again and waiting patiently for GenX 2!
...hmm so using "No Limits" makes it "on or off" then?
