This took 45 minutes to render - ships are DS instance nodes.. which actually kind of kick ass! Not a serious hoit on RAM, the scene as is takes 2.5GB (cool smile)

The more I learn DS the more impressed I am.. SOMEONE at Daz kows they're butt from a hole in the ground...!

Given the big shadow from the pike... I'm wondering where the shadows from the boats/sails are? ... or are they mostly in mid-air? O.O

    Hmmmm...
Now that I look at it, it appears some or all of the ships are not touching the water surface, but floating in the air above it. Go to the Perspective View and rotate to check it if you want to, Wooly.

I need to make a pose cam and drop some of the instances, this was an experiment to see how DS instances work, and let me tell you, they work a treat!

I' way too drunk to do a good job on Y axis positioning (lol) but tomorrow I'll make a new cam and get those ships down on to the Breaking Waves surface. This is a good start! I'm very happy with my purchases and the scene in general.

Happy independence Day, Happy Birthday AMERICA! (huge smile)

Where I live the only ones folks are allowed to use are the lil sparklers and stuff :)

They can get into big trouble if they use the big noisy ones. Part of living in a neighborhood where you're surrounded by trees for miles I guess. ^^

Happy 4th. of July to all my fellow Americans, happy Thursday to everything else that isn't in Friday yet, happy Friday to anyone already there!

Warm in Austin, TX today - a perfect day to stay indoors and work on renders! My fridge is loaded up with hot dogs (well, fancy sausage) and I have beer for later tonight! Fun times ahead.

Now to get coffee, throw on my 22 hours of classical music, and start....

    ..installing content. (blank face)

...back in business. Looks really nice having the better resolution. Even in OpenGL things look so much better. Still need to play with settings, both for the Monitor and GPU but for now just glad to be up and running again. Need to go out and get a monitor cover and cleaning kit tomorrow.

Really like working with David5, redoing one of the characters for a scene i've been working on and he looks so much better than the Genesis basic male w/iconic generation figure mix I used before. Has excellent facial lines for an elf (the character I'm reworking) and a lot less "5:00 shadow" than Mike. Now I have to get the Male Body Morph Resource Kit. (wishlisted for now). Thorne needs to do a male head morph kit.

Had a good brekkie this morning, Hotcakes & Sausage. About to fire up the skillets for a homemade Burger (marinated in this really good BBQ sauce) Made With Cheese, Fries and an ear of Corn for dinner. A bit later will head off to the waterfront for fireworks.

Nice day here, 76° (appropriate considering the day today) which is spot on for this time of year.

..one complaint, forgot there are a lot of baseball games today and yep, like clockwork, it's the Mariners pregame blab show, which will be followed by another Mariners' loss, then ninety minutes of the post game cry session. 5 hours of wasted airtime. We really need a second sports station in this town, tired of living in "South Seattle".

...at this point I'll even take a broadcast of our local Single A team or our US Footie club, at least it would be a bit more meaningful (and both our teams are doing pretty good in comparison to those losers up north).

    tee hee heee heee

Dark Helmet: [pause] Yes! I always have coffee when I watch radar. You know that.

    Spaceball Officer:
You idiots! These are not them! You've captured their stunt doubles!

Colonel Sandurz: Yes sir! (turns on microphone) Prepare ship for light speed!
Dark Helmet: No-no-no, light speed is too slow!
Colonel Sandurz: Light speed too slow?
Dark Helmet: Yes, we'll have to go right to... Ludicrous speed!
    [The entire crew gasps.]
Colonel Sandurz: Ludicrous speed?! Sir, we've never gone that fast before! I don't know if this ship can take it!
Dark Helmet: What's the matter Colonel Sandurz? Chicken?
Colonel Sandurz: [stuttering, sounding much like a chicken] Prepare ship-- [more clearly] Prepare ship for ludicrous speed! Fasten all seat belts, seal all entrances and exits, close all shops in the mall! Cancel the three ring circus! Secure all animals in the zoo--
Dark Helmet: Give me that, you petty excuse for an officer! (Takes the microphone) Now hear this! Ludicrous speed--
Colonel Sandurz: Sir, you'd better buckle up!
Dark Helmet: Ah, buckle this! Ludicrous speed, go!
[Dark Helmet is screaming as he sees various warp trails on the monitor. Meanwhile, there are signs lighting up indicating "LIGHT SPEED", "RIDICULOUS SPEED", and a flashing "LUDICROUS SPEED" sign]
Dark Helmet: What have I done?! My brains are going into my feet!
[Spaceball One passes Lone Starr's Winnebago, leaving a trail of plaid light behind them]
Barf: ... What the hell was that?
    Lone Starr: Spaceball One.
    Barf: They've gone to plaid!
Dark Helmet: We passed 'em! Stop this thing!
Colonel Sandurz: We can't stop, it's too dangerous! We have to slow down first!
Dark Helmet: Bullshit! Stop this thing, I order you! Sto-o-o-o-p!
[Colonel Sandurz reaches out and uses the emergency brake, which has a "Never use" warning on it. Helmet goes flying forward, while screaming, into a control panel, denting it and his helmet severely.]
Colonel Sandurz: Are you all right, sir?
Dark Helmet: [slightly dazed] Fine. How have you been?
Colonel Sandurz: Very good, sir. It's a good thing you were wearing that helmet.
    Dark Helmet: Yeah.
Colonel Sandurz: What should we do now, sir?
Dark Helmet: Well, are we stopped?
    Colonel Sandurz: We're stopped, sir.
Dark Helmet: Good. Why don't we take a five minute break?
    Colonel Sandurz: Very good, sir.

A majorly successful beer run, before the weather heated up! (cool smile)

Got a six of "Dirty Bastard", a six of "400 Pound Monkey", a large bottle of Stone IPA, and a large bottle of Lagunitas lucky 13! No more fear, there's more beer! (frosty beer emote)

    ...nice selection.

Can never go wrong with Stone Brewing. Ever try their Arrogant Bastard? The also make a seasonal called Double Bastard which is so strong it almost doesn't need a bottle to stand upright.

My favouries by Lagunitas are their IPA Maximus, The Hairy Eyeball, Wilco Tango Foxtrot. and Brown Shugga.

Ok, first render - kilometer long pike and ship with Breaking Waves. The realistic ocean really does make the scene, even with an hour long render time.

...nice work. That ship looks soooo teeny.
