the version i'll publish soon will be for "normalized" wrapper sheets/tubes
by normalized i mean -- ( like the primitive planes, and the tubes seen so far ) : rows and columns having a constant number of vertices
maybe later i'll add gravity which should give us interesting draping. but it wont be truly dynamic with interactions between constraints
non normalized wrapper objects are supported for the shrink process but not for the spandex effect
because my script has to analyze them and locate the rows, columns and rings of vertices before stretching them
and for now it can only figure easy stuff like grids
somehow related to the shrink wrapper
with this topology ( architecture )
if i add selection-by-material ability to the script ( think i will )
then this could be treated as 3 grid-planes
with different material assignments, or it could be seen as 3 tubes
though my model is already well fitted, maybe a little shrink wrapping would add some credibility/realism
Very nice! How about a nice tank top to go with the panties? :-)
there's a nice tank-top for Aiko3 at LittleDragon's site http://littledragon.francemi.net/misc_01.htm

Mostly Harmelss ( working title was mcjAnnoy )
for further aggravation, look up Caramelldansen

will probably try to publish the new shrinkWrapping script this weekend
with an eye on usability for minimally complex structures like the short pants
in this case, i modeled them over an exported Aiko3, with her spandex" morph set at 67%
then i used mcjShrinkWrapA to push it onto Aiko
but for the next version of mcjShrinkWrap i'd like to be able to shrinh/drape/spandexity sections of a garment
Coming along very nicely!
I've been absent lately. Been setting up my shiny new Windows 8 installation.... Just today getting back to things like attending my Marilyn M morph for Dawn. YAY!
Okay :-) shorts! -- says she hoping there's a little tutorial for that too ;-)
well maybe someday i'll do just that, but i don't really know the modern rigging ways applicable to Aiko3
been procrastinating on re-starting work on the shrink wrapper+spandex but i 'm pretty sure there will be advances this weekend :)
in other news i learned the terms "high waist cinch belt" and "high waist sailor shorts"

lol ... not worried about the rigging! For some reason I have not quite got the nack for making the mesh on shorts fit that neatly. That's what I referring to.
Modern rigging as far as I'm concerned is to throw something on Genesis, and use the transfer utility tools. For A3, I have the clone.
[edited out by me - I got the FS tools for legacy working again ... and it was my fault that it wasn't.]
So, no rush, when it's available, as long as things remain stable around here, I would follow beautiful tutorial on how to make nice neat shorts ;-) And rig them.
tomorrow, tomorrow i restart work on the shrink wrapper
( well i did change 1 line of code while making the belt/high-waist pants
That's beautiful modeling!
thanks, i think what i really need is the stretch/folds/wrinkles in the fabric to make it look more like fabric
Haven't got the texture on this computer, but am working on something that produces lots of nice wrinkles in any cloth!
Skirt and belt part basically done ... hope you like purple.
Wow this is moving great. Thanks for sharing. Love what you have done thus far and getting great results.
thanks, i'm slowly restarting work on this, it's the last mile ( saying that but there's probably 5 miles to go :) )
Figure 3 - current work is to make the script usable with any orientation of the shrinkable cloth
Figure 5 : mold/press stretch-Y stretch-X
geometry in 3D space is hard ! ( dont worry the floor is cushioned ) ... having issues when i try to project curved cloth ( like a section of a cylinder )
Figure 2 - in green and red the "convex hull" process , which is used to make cloth look as if it was under tension
looking forward to the update.thanks for this script.
thanks!
today i work a bit more on the case of grid-like cloths
shown here is the easiest case where there a wall behind Aiko, so all collider "rays" hit something
Oh that would be good for encasing scifi characters in deep freeze display units :-)
Interesting, how does the calculation know to NOT press/bend between the legs, but it does press/bend under the breast area?
there's 3 phases ,
-shrink-wrap ( project the cloth )
-stretch the horizontal threads
-stretch the vertical threads
in this last picture i didn't do the vertical stretching, else it would look like
I've been thinking of ways to add belts, a bit like in Poser Cloth simulation, you can have groups of vertices that are like glued in place
and i may use the surface textures as the way to specify what gets simply shrink-wrapped and what gets the spandex effect
I’ve been thinking of ways to add belts, a bit like in Poser Cloth simulation, you can have groups of vertices that are like glued in place
and i may use the surface textures as the way to specify what gets simply shrink-wrapped and what gets the spandex effect
in the example below,
the yellow ( red + green ) vertices will be Shrink-wrapped And Horizontally spandexified
(like a tight skirt )
the white ( red + green + blue ) vertices will be Shrink-wrapped, Horizontally spandexified and vertically spandexified
( like a rigid belt )
the magenta ( red + blue ) vertices will be Shrink-wrapped, And vertically spandexified
( like uh suspenders )
in another thread i posted a free script to create primitive planes that are better suited for the mcjShrinkWrap tasks
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/28830/
Any Updates?
i got diverted in the physics simulation project
( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0l6GdTCLSWs )
but will come back to this one,
the lattice-deformer prohject
and the mcjTeleblender project
soon'ish :)
Wow, this is getting close to Marvelous Designer cloth simulation. Almost to the point where it will work with patterns! Amazing work.
my bad I forgot to create the collider ...dismiss
SAFE 2019 Update
Q. : Do you really need to update?
A : With the old version of this script if the wrapper object was a subdivided surface, and you saved this scene as a .duf file, the scene file would become un-openable !!!
A : The new version has 2 new options and 2 help buttons
A: Since mcjCollider is now Mac compatible, Mac afficionados can now use this script !
uses the services of the free mcjCollider
plugin to shrink wrap tubes around figures and objects
it's ready ! https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts3/mcjshrinkwrapa
