eta Temporary end of static void Thread.Spam() :)

Well, the guy looks to me like he's supposed to be AquaMan.

    Dana

Yeah it is supposed to be Aquaman but I do not have the finishing touches to make him exact like Aquaman. I was just using the stuff that came with the SuperSuit Pro thingie that I got.

Oh, I have that. Haven't tried it, of course. Not the Pro version, though. I wonder if that's the same as instances. I think an instance doesn't use up any more resources, or very, very little. Her write-up about SitC says you can run out of memory, so I'm not sure it's the same.

I'm on the East Coast, so it was almost 4:30 for me! Crikey indeed.

Coffee break after lunch - 15 minutes. At least I got a free tuna sandwich and chips for lunch. :blank:

Early to bed tonight, I think - meetings start tomorrow at 8AM sharp. Going to need 2 cups of coffee just to appear awake. :blank:

Blech. Back into meetings. At least I had time to get some V4 Fastgrab lovin'!

ps. yeah, nose to grindstone = no nose, shoulder to wheel - dislocated shoulder.. Sick, sick, sick. :bug:

Got a good part of my latest scene done though.

Does SitC do anything that you can't do with instancing? Just curious because though I haven't had a use for it yet I have an idea for a render that could use several generic background characters. If I can accomplish it with instancing - not sure I haven't tried - then I'll probably go that route but if there's an advantage to SitC maybe I'll add it to my wishlist for later.

...it actually does what it says, creates an exact clone of an item/figure completely, duplicating all that item's properties. With regards to figures, each can be posed and morphed independently as well as have different skin maps and clothing applied. So if you want people in the background that don't all look exactly alike, you can clone say five Genesis male five Genesis female, dress them differently, give them different hair, skin colouration, lightly different heights/builds, then reduce the LOD to save render time.

Not sure if the same can be done with figures duplicated through node instancing. What I did notice is that this in effect creates a group with the header "instances" which can be expanded to reveal the individual instanced items. The way this appears to work, I think it is better for static props (like the extra wall segment I needed or if say, I wanted a bunch of trees in the background or a line of bollards along a sidewalk). Nice that we have the option though as it is a quick way to duplicate props without having to load and position each one separately.

BTW, I also purchased SitC Pro for Daz4 (actually upgraded from the Daz3 version at a fairly attractive discount) as at the time, the app. itself would only let you instance a single node.

Heart of space to the rescuuuue

    planets catch shadows, yes?

but how big does something have to be to cast a shadow on a planet from outside it's atmo? like 10 percent of planet's size? like death star size?

a magma planet wouldn't catch shadows, i imagine, has it's own ambient glow

...some nice choices there. Blondie's Rude Gestures is great fun.

I notice you have Paradox Pookling wonderful character. Make sure you also have the Mil Kids - Young Teens as they are required. The same if you also get Mama Pook.

Depends how far away the viewer and the object are - after all, you case a shadow on the planet when you stand in the sun.

It looks like you have more posts than I do, but we still do not know when the fifth box comes. Hopefully we can find out before any new forums can get installed.
