OK NOW LG...... is da regular guy telling us that it is a HANDICAP to be SHORT???????? now now lg........... it is a blessing.... no wait, a privilege... no wait, an honor, no wait again, I will find something that is good about being short, I promise cuz I'm only 4f 11in my self and I DON"T HAVE A HANDICAP... no wait a minute.... I take it ALL back. Being short is DEFINITELY a handicap some times. Always have to ask for help with the top shelves in the stores and at home. You get to smell alot of armpits, don't have to duck for many things, wait that is a plus about being short. gotta have tall step ladders too.
never mind, I like it though
Well said Jeeperz!

Actually, it's pretty easy to get background shots when you know what you're looking for. I just go to Google (of course) and do a general search for images on, say...New York City. Most of the time I'll narrow my searches by looking for things like Brooklyn or Queens, specifically street scenes or neighborhoods or maybe vacant lots. Where the real trick comes in is getting the lighting in Bryce to match the photo. Some times it works, sometimes it doesn't. I rarely look at or remember which sites these photos come from so anything with a photo background can't be published elsewhere so, this rules out any kind of a book collection or anything. Probably just as well as this have become such an inside joke for this forum it would be of little interest to anybody else. I'm sure that if I posted any of this stuff in any of the other forums here, or anywhere else for that matter, it would be met with a scratching of the head or a loud "What th' @#$! is this &$#@!" Geeze, wot lang'age...

He can still play better than I. Interesting mix of toon shading with the more realistic environment.

Carola O, this version is even better, the focus is clearly visible. Great job! GRNgiant7713, your idea of posting a pirate render is a fresh look at the contest's theme. You've got various freebies and made some fine changes with shaders. Good job, I'm very happy you also listed every registration-requiring item clearly :).
Lord Ganthor... Your renders are totally laughable if I may say so, you definitely know how to tick that laughing spot in one's body :P! I also adore the way you include that doggy, he's an adorable little lad. The story is very funny too, I really enjoyed it. Does the description mean you managed to use V4 aging morphs on M4? Wow... The little man is quite a hunk, by the way :P...
Riccopt, welcome to the contest and thanks for your entry. Well, it is quite a tough one to judge. Definitely, you meet the freebie minimum and used a variety of sites. I was happy to learn about that folklore tale. However, I cannot say for sure whether it really fits the theme, because we as judges strive to show real life stories rather than fantasy creatures. I'll leave that to the rest of jury to decide. Anyway, thank you for submitting it, I'd never think the monopods are present in South American folklore!
I was going to make something about this kid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRbN7Jx-JG8 but decided to go with the Saci Perere is as inspiration because that is the symbol of my team (Sport Club Internacional), and perhaps you didn't notice the blind girl touching her dog on the background
BTW the saci perere has nothing of his "other" leg, it was just an inspiration
Adorable doggie? Ya mean dat @#%$! mutt Boston!?! Adorable my #%&! All he does is sleep, eat 'n' @*%#, 24-7! He run away from me ex...if dat tells ya anyt'in'!
The V4 aging morphs were recreated to work on Genesis and I was surprised that they did work. I also added some of the morphs from DieTrying as well, just for extra measure. Thanks for the kind comments.
It still fits the theme as presented: "The idea is to post a render showing someone who is physically handicapped that is enjoying life to the fullest. Laughing, playing, compeating, sports, work, etc."
Of course, it's up to the host whether he wants to accept the image. I've already saved a copy in my entries folder, though.
Riccopt, one thing I will ask is that you indicate which sites need registration before one can download from them. That was one of the things that BWSman insisted on, and we're honoring him this month...

I think this fits the theme just fine. They are handicapped...NOT! I do like the shaders and toon look on the regular background. Gives them a special kind of look. Also, it sparks a curiosity about the Brizilian folklore. The only thin I would have done differently is, I would have added some trees or flowers or bushes and definately some shadows. Good freebies, thanks for entering.

Thank you for accepting my entry, this means a lot for me
I am still learning the basics, and whenever I add lights and shadows I have to wait like 40 minutes just to preview (my computer is not suited for this kind of work)
I don't have any flowers or trees for now (I have seen a few tree OBJs, but none that I actually liked)

Your runtime will fill up in a hurry...trust me...lol. Sooooo much cool free stuff out there, and the Daz store has some real nice models with real nicer discounts. If you are a platinum member (about 7.00 a month) you get tons of models for only $1.99 for members only prices.
Please enter the challenge again at any time.
:-)
Dorseyland and riccopt check your PM's please. That makes 13 users with Accepted renders if I'm doing this correct.
Thank you all for such a nice contest people. I've really enjoyed it this month.
I noticed the girl, but she didn't seem to have any physical disadvantage. Welcome to the contest :). Riccopt, there are really nice plants posted Freepozitory thread made for them. Especially X-Frog ones are high quality, because they share samples from their products.
Since we have an AWOL judge this month music has asked me to fill in until we find out where she went. If anyone knows dollygirl personally could you contact her to see if she is ok.
Until then.... you guys are stuck with me.
NOW YOU'RE IN TROUBLE....
I will not go back and comment on the renders that are already entered. I think you all have pretty much covered that and then some. I will be commenting on future renders for the month. I will keep my comments to a minimum. I believe that critiquing should be the job of the host for that month. Commenting and critiquing are two different things. If the host for the month would like me to I will also critique them as well. NOW.... SHOW ME THE RENDERS......

Here's my render.
Before the word “handicapped” was even used, imagine controlling a ship full of cut-throats; not to mention raiding other ships, while missing a hand, a leg, and even an eye!
Handicapped...? Pshaw.

Title: “Arr, Who You Callin' Handicapped, Matey?”
Alexa, you just keep getting better and better. You are figuring out realism in you renders. This is different from your more cartoon like figures which I also like. It seems a little dark, but that may be intentional. He must be a warm and fuzzy sort of guy cuz he doesn't have a very angry. ARRRR.......me matey look on his face. I like it.
I'll have to add that ship's deck to my runtime...
It wasn't me, sir! I didn't say that, sir! I was just hoistin' that bail, sir!
Dana
I'm a little nervous because this is my first post in the forum. I hope I am doing this right.
I have been lurking for a while, reading tips and tricks and learning since I am still quite new to Daz and 3D.
I enjoyed looking at all the great renders in this thread and I got an idea for this contest, so I decided to enter.
Thank you for looking.

The title is
Playing ball with my best friend
Strange, that doesn't LOOK like a beginner's work!
Welcome, Sigrid -- and WOW!
Alexa Sears, you did a great job on getting the wooden textures look like this! Simply cool effect. I see pirate renders are trendy this month! Thank you for pointing out registration-requiring objects, it is often forgotten the first time, but very needed.
Selias19, welcome on board and thanks for your render! It is really nice, especially the poses of those two little pals. You also covered a very important part of rendering, that is having shadows. The ball looks dynamic too. I'd also search for a roof to cover the yellow brick building, so it would look more like a house rather than a wall. I really think you're doing well, our fingers are crossed for you!
Hello, and welcome to the Freebie Challenge!
You've done everything correctly, and I wish my early renders looked as good as this one does...
welcome Selias19. glad to see you enter. Most will lurk for a month or two so this is very normal. I lurker for 2 months before I entered the first time. And now ya can't shut me up..... I wish a good chunk of the people that enter here did as thorough a job as you did before they post their first render (we have had a rash of people that didn't understand the rules and thought it was easier to change them than to follow them) It's refreshing to see someone grasp the rules as easily as you did. EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE NOTE OF THIS. It CAN be done. I love the concept of children in your render. very realistic. You have done this before I can tell. I'm still recovering so I will let music or one of the other judges check your links. but you covered all the need to knows i think.
Sorry I have not been up in here daily, I have been doctoring a bad summer cold. High fever and lungs congested. When you work in a place where you are around sick people everyday, you can sometimes catch it from them....this is one of those times. I even know who I got it from...that lady with the kleenexes blowing constantly lasy week. She got me!
But I am back now!
SPLAT!
:-)
Wonderful image! Some of those trees look very real! What is the building?
