It's a nice bundle.. but expensive at full price so get it now before it goes up.  The key is it supports G9 and includes face morphs.  Until now, we've been getting G8 stuff.  Only time will tell if DAZ with offer other products for Trek.

    just my Two cents.

I like the Voyager uniform textures, but the fabric is too loose and soft, IMO. The costumes didn't have all those gathers. There were some at the side of the waist, but not in the front or back.

They're also missing those big folds in back. Admittedly, those could be pretty awkward.

Hope we get some genesis 8 stuff as nice as this.smiley

Well, that's a surprise!  Star Trek on the DAZ sale page, now I've seen everything.  Can only hope we see more products come out!

I think what surprised me is the texture sets and add-ons to make it look like what's on the shows for sale. I've bought different sets at other places over the years that were sold with textures to look different, then the IP looking textures were available as a free download. Plus there's been a lot of free fan-made props and textures made to share with fellow fans. I don't know if the creator is a fan or not, but it feels less supportive and more exploitive to me. The editorial license thing feels like "So you can make money off this unlicensed thing, but I can't?".

Yeah, selling what we've been known to have available as free fanart stuff doesn't sit well with me either however I did buy the set. I read something long time ago now it seems and have great faith in the overall system of what comes around goes around. Aside from a rather carefully worded letter from the SW lawyer {I ask dumb questions, they don't like fan art apparently} I've never seen a company [not that I've looked much] be as oh, well you saw "Khan" in the movie, as Paramount. I've also noticed over the years that Klingon stuff tends to be more vigilantly guarded than the rest of the ST stuff. [eta: I have no idea how they're handling these newish types of licenses]

Last I checked, when publishing ST fanart -- keep it free, keep it family friendly, in line with the accepted concepts for the show, and tack on those copyright/trademark notices.

Concerning the wrinkles in certain outfits, while I've haven't ironed them yet, shouldn't be a huge problem to address that matter.

Kudos to whoever on the Ferengi head morph! I bought the whole set when I saw that they are HD which we can't do anyhow.

The Ferengi morph is nice. I don't see a female morph with smaller lobes, though.
  • nightwolf1982nightwolf1982 Posts: 1,160

Timbales:  You can lower the morph strength to get a passable set of lobes for female ferengi, just remember to mix in a solid female face morph as well.

Has anyone ever found good references for the LCARS panel on B'Elanna's engineering console?

@Setalia the earrings are from Fabiana's Simplicity Chains and Piercings over at Renderosity.

I have never known Paramount/CBS to go after fan art as long as it's free. Even if it's not family friendly.

FWIW, they've joined the TeePublic fan art program. You can sell Trek stuff at TeePublic, as long as it follows their guidelines

RedBubble also has a fan art program. It used to include Star Trek, but no longer does. Not sure what happened there. The stuff that was submitted when Trek was a "branded partner" is still for sale, but you're no longer allowed to submit new Trek stuff.

    Nicely done!

  • I kind of like the new items. I'm just curious on the texture product why there's all the races except for the "alien warrior"? We have the morph but no texture to go with it. Or maybe it's there and they didn't include a promo for it. If it is that would entice me to buy it.

My note of curiosity is that there still isn't a single decent set of 'Vulcan' eyebrows....  What's up with that?

There's a brow set I use, I don't remember the name off the top of my head. I'll try to look for it when I'm home this evening.

Could we get a Jeffrey Combs face shape? He's been like nine different Star Trek characters. Plus for Halloween we could do Herbert West.

    To clarify...

Yes, I'm aware of these but all of the new Alien Faces are for Genesis 9. I cannot believe that it would have been so very difficult for them to have included something like these brows (the Vulcan raised brows) for G9... Heck, the Trill was practically a whole body and I'm just talking eyebrows here!

It just doesn't make sense to me.

Weird. The links look the same, but their underlying code are different. Some garbage code evidently crept into the original post.

Fortunately, I already have that one. But like an idiot, I forgot to buy the other two earlier today when I put them in my cart and made that post. Got everything now. blush

    Thanks!

Anytime one sees a link with ";" after it - indicates unwanted info at the end of the link which is what invalidates it. Sometimes if we hit 'return' after typing a link, the link might stay good however the for sure way is to add the link via the link button at the top of these typing boxes.
