Yes! I just discovered it today, I had actually put the info in my Daz Tutorial notes (I copy/paste stuff from the forums to a notes section when I see something interesting I didn't know.) You go to parameters for G8F and under menu choose Show Hidden, then do a search for male and not only does the G8 Male show up but earlier generations of female. I think this is for autofit but it can also work for shaping!

Wow, thanks for the explanation. Will have to try it myself. Still do not know, how the UV swap will be useful here.

    https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-uv-swap-male-and-female-base

It is only for using textures from opposite gender, but in our case we need morphs, isn't it?

Ok, I got it. This way one can apply G8 Male materials on G8 Female.

Yes, it's a work-around for now, but you have to still use female poses and morphs. When I tried a male pose, the fingers went all wonky. I don't have time now to do more experiments but if people need Cartoonized males before the real product comes out and have the UV Swap, this can be a temporary work-around...

Yes, it's that G8M clone that is used to autofit G8M compatible clothing to G8F characters.

You’ll probably need to adjust the rigging to shape after applying the male clone, so the bones are correctly aligned for posing.

    Yes! Thanks! That works wonderfully!

Here is another test after doing that and using a male pose. The fingers look OK, thanks! He still looks a bit feminine but this was just a quick test. I've got to go, but I can't stop playing with this!

OK, bought the product, installed it and now I can't find where I'm supposed to be looking for the sliders.  I went in to the Shape folder and clicked on cartoonize but after that, I dont know where I'm supposed to be looking.  I went in to Parameters but I can't find anything there.  Help!

@Spuffy in the Shape Tab ,go to Actor /Full Body /Stylized , Face /  Stylized, , Eyes /Stylized , Nose / Stylized , Mouth / Stylized ,the dials are  Dark blue fading to a lighter blue ,The same in the Parameter tab , they are under Stylized not Cartoonize.

    Oops @carrie58 you were faster

In Parameter you'll find it under Actor/People/Stylized, Actor/Full Body/Stylized, Actor/Face/Stylized, Actor/Eyes/Stylized... or you can also find it in the shaping tab under Actor/People/Stylized, Actor/Full Body/Stylized, Face/Stylized, Eyes/Stylized ... (to me easier to use from there).

I finally got a chance to try out version 3 of the Diva Toon Helpers. Thanks for adding the controls to turn off the helper on skin and eyes. Those are working well. The only nit-picky blush issue remaining is that the presets to turn off the lip and fingernail overlays change the diffuse overlay color back to the light skin overlay color. So, if I change my mind and apply one of the strength presets, it turns the helper back on, but the lips and fingernails have the light overlay color instead of the dark color that I had originally applied. I completely understand if you are sick of fiddling with this freebie and ready to move on! I can easily work around the issue.

Here is my latest render, using your lovely helpers on skin and eyes. On this one I used the light color toon helper on Alexandra skin. I also set normal and bump settings to 0. The background is the latest PC+ freebie.

Thanks but I already looked there (and under Parameters) and nothing is showing up.  I tried reinstalling but still nothing.  I guess if I can't get it to work I'll just return it.  So disappointed.

Often morphs linstalled after a character is loaded will not show up. Start with an empty scene and load a base Genesis 8 Female. Select her in the Scene pane. Now look for the morphs in the Parameters pane as described above. Are they there?

No.  I even closed DAZ and opened it to start from the beginning with a G8 female.

Manually.  I always do it that way.  Sometimes things don't show up when I install in my usual folder so I reinstall them in library\Shared\MyDazLibray so I'm going to install there and see what happens.  Usually it fixes the problem.

Update:  It worked.  Yay!  and thanks to both of you I didn't have to go searching for the sliders.

To find the morphs, because unfortunately they are scattered in the slider list go to the Parameters tab and select the Genesis 8 Female in the list or All in the list and to the right of that, at the top is a search box. in that search box type in Cartoon and the list found will consist of only this product.

What fantasic images everyone is posting, and what a great product,  @PedroFurtadoArts! I particularly enjoyed these 3 by @Divamakeup, @Wonderland, and @deathbycanon:

Like others, I dig the realistic skins on the toons, and I've always thought that all types of caricatures can help to bridge the uncanny valley.

    Please keep 'em coming!

    - Greg

That's breathtaking! I love it! :D Do you have a tutorial on how you do post work!? I'd love to learn how you do that! :)

Thanks for the comments! This is such a fun product. Diva I don't want to post links here to my videos, as it's not my thread, but I have links on my art  studio thread, the link of which is in my signature. They are sort of long, as I just did a piece and recorded as I did it. This witch piece was actually really fast and fun and super simple to post work though.  If I can get some grand baby free time (so the house is quite)  I'll do a video on it.

How did you do, that "adjust the rigging to shape"? Could you explain that, please.

Very nice, dreamfarmer. Although I've noticed, the image has still a lot of "fireflies" - white dots.

Are there intended to be there, or you've just stopped rendering earlier?

I think @dreamfarmer was going for some dust in the air that's visible in a bright light. I see other volumetric effects in the image, and quite like the effect.

Yeah, it’s lit using Philosopher’s Epic Godrays volumetric Kit. Dust particles.  Although the renderer also found those particles confusing.

  • ArtiniArtini Posts: 9,669

Ok, so it was intentional - sorry, if that created a confusion.

Okay, so instead of doing what I planned, I started to play around with the Cartoonize sliders on Girl 8. Five minutes, I told myself. Sigh, that was never going to happen. Several hours later .... and this is what I ended up with.

@PedroFurtadoArts I'm so, so, desparate to get my hands on the GM8 version! I don't have the skills of @Wonderland to cartoonize my males, lol.
