It's sausage and mashed potatos. I only know that because we have an English restaurant chain in the US that serves them.

hopefully served with fried onions.     I use good quality sausages,  once with at least 87 but often up to 95% meat content,  mash my potato with whole milk, butter and sometimes even a little cream  and sliced raw onion fried in good quality oil (I use olive oil)   and yes I am British.

Mash is not good for me. Anyway I prefer Toad In The Hole . . .

Misty,  British sausages taste NOTHING like US sausages. Not even Italian ones.  Pork here is reared for flavour and so the sausges tend to have a bit of the farmyard about them (stronger taste) which I really like now. Didn't at first when I got here.  We get the gluten free once which are less stodgy and greasy, and have them with baked beans and mash but no onions or gravy.  Husband has a hiatal hernia. indecision

Don't forget to have Spotted Dick for dessert! devil

I spent some time in Scotland during university days.  I assume the bangers and mash I had in Sterling still counts as bangers and mash by other British standards.  Not impressed.  I recommend that everyone embrace a Tex-Mex breakfast, any form of huevos rancheros that you would prefer.  My favorite is Migas, a dish I was introduced to in Austin.  Eggs scrambled with onions, peppers, etc., served with black beans, rice, and a spicy salsa.  Wrap them up in a corn tortilla and eat them like a taco.

    Delicious and cheap.  Great combination.

When I moved here in the very early 90s for the first time, I had to make any Mexican food from scratch and ingredients were hard to find.  Fast forward 10-15 years, now we have Mex and other SA food everywhere.  Still, it won't ever be as popular as Indian and for the same reason as Mexican is popular in the US--population dynamics.  The years we lived in the US I had to create all Indian dishes from scratch.  I do love the spices and variety of Asian cooking!

During COVID, I am so grateful to Deliveroo, Just Eat, Uber Eats, all of 'em. I got really sick of cooking especially when we were having the heatwave last month. (Well, there goes summer for the UK, done and over!)  Even with home delivery order online groceries, I am just fed up with cooking.

Yup, you can tell it's officially summer.... cos it's cold and wet!

Ted, I had huevos rancheros a few times back in the late 80s. Was in San Antonio. yes

Silene, you should have seen the size of the queue when McDonalds reopened a few days ago - it was obscene!

Same here!  It can't be worth that kind of wait. They are also doing delivery as are Burger King.  One of the local pubs is doing takeaway from their 'kitchen door' on Sats and they specialise in lots of different bangers and burgers, so I prefer that to BK actually.

Sun and showers now... back to normal summer I guess.  frown  Silene

I would much rather have Burger king than McDonalds but unfortunatey there isn't one near enough to us for Just Eat to deliver

Chohole  Re you limited to how far to drive for shopping or is the 5 miles just for visiting others?  Hope that lifts soon, I am not getting my Pembrokeshire potatoes here as local growers are not sending to England!

Alita Battle Angel - Best Movie Ever!!! smiley

I gotta agree - I watched it this weekend - (ETA: not sure if best ever - Blade Runner still has my vote) - but it's a pretty solid, well-rounded action adventure story in a post-apocalyptic-big-war world - well-done all the way around. There are some comic-book-y elements to the plot (no spoilers), but the character interactions are fun and the CG and world they've created is top-notch and is so well done you quickly 'immerse' and live there once it starts.

Yah, no wonder you always add smiley's  when you speak of it!

FWIW, it's kind of a 'terminator' like action movie - if you like those sorts of movies, but the character discussed above is a charming (and capable) protagonist.

    cheers,

OK, to my eye, Alita's *much* cuter than Harrison Ford, but Sean Harris and Darryl Hannah were both well-cast for their roles.

Blade Runner was arguably darker (or not?), but the underlying plot *premise* was a better mind-bender from my frame-of-reference.

But it's OK - an excuse to watch both again, just to compare notes :)

...but Alita Battle Angel has... Alita!!! Just look at the SSS on the fingers when she first wakes up! But then when she (finally) gets kissed!!! OMG, the lighting threw me straight out of my seat!!!

By the time this (Spoiler Alert) sequence occurs, we've already forgotten that she's CG, except that us CG artists are in such a state of awe.

Just watch, unless you don't like Spoilers

In the behind the scenes material, they show how they did the 'performance capture'. But capturing all those little dots on her face was truly only the beginning. The two HD cameras mounted on a boom pointing at Rosa's (Alita Actress) face filmed everything. Animators then combined morph adjustments with the performance capture data to truly make Rosa's performance breathe into the CG Alita. Just check out even the timing of how her mouth moves as she talks. Her gestures and how her facial muscles land differently after certain gestures... it's all stuff I'm taking into consideration for animating my favorite hero! :)

But my favorite part has to be the one allowed F-bomb in a PG flick - and not the F-bomb itself, but how Grewishka's scream ends just as she lets out another one of her ever-so-awesome battle growls. So well timed and, for such a little thing she has such an amazing growl!

I bemoan the lack of finished work using some softwares searching by name on YouTube.

It is all how to, tutorials etc,
DAZ, Carrara etc I do get some
    others not so much
Unreal is about 50/50 likewise iClone

but Spine, the 2D rigging software that works with Unity
I have never seen a Spine animation that is a finished movie or game
    ever

Off off topic here.  I am really annoyed!  Here I rushed out and got my W10 sorted on my machine because Windows 7 is no longer supported (unless you pay for business support or something silly). Still, it is touted as hacker bait.  So I took that laptop off line which is brutally inconvenient for me.

Friday I went to use my card at the ATM owned by Royal Bank of Scotland at a grocery store outside cash point.  It took my transaction no problem, then it ate my card without giving out the cash!  I watch the software crash right in front of me going through many screens... trying to reboot.... blah blah blah.  And then... it says on the screen....

    WINDOWS 7 RESTARTING!   surprise

It never did and I finally walked away hoping my card and money would not spit out...store manager said it wouldn't but still...  Really?  WTH are these banks playing at?  All I could think of were those Windows XP ransomware attacks a few years ago with hospitals here who had never upgraded their software. They had a terrible time.  Aren't banks worried about this crap?

Now waiting for my replacement card which has to come from the US as it's a BoA one.  It's how I draw my pension as the exchange rate is way much better than wire transfers, more convenient and cheaper even with a fee.
