I've put this in my Reference section (linked from the first post of this thread) in case you ever need it. It is awesome and SO nice of refsocrd1 to take the time to type out that tutorial. It must've taken HOURS or DAYS. Check your setup and see if you have anything weird if files aren't working. I had Runtime>Libraries but had Libraries again under Libraries. I didn't do that either. So you may have some nested files that are under each other. (Never have Content under Content. New users do that when they are bringing in files from outside vendors. That much I DO know. Not much else though!)

Doing a fun scene kit bash, Anamnesis/Decrepitude, Reparation/ Requiescat and the ground from A Curious Passage so far. Take a look at that ground if you don't have it. Wanted to mention that now as the Curious stuff is on sale. 945 off and .99 you can't go wrong.
    http://www.daz3d.com/pc-curious-and-dubious-sale/a-curious-passage

I am testing the same lightset I used on my Gigantoraptor/Zuniceratop render, and also brought in the lights from Reparation. Doing a test render. It will be quite awhile before this scene will be ready, I'm going to be busy doing other things. The weather is gorgeous and that's ranch weather- in addition to errands in general. Hope everyone is enjoying Fall and the last of the warm weather. Still thinking about all of you in New South Wales with those fires. :(

Do check out the Curious series as there are neat vines, grounds, and props that you can use, all on sale for .99
I am now starting tier 2, picked up the Creature thingie for Gen2 (HD) Maybe I should put a creature in my scene, lol.

EDIT: It's interesting to bring in lights from another scene, and let them come in where they were just to see the effects. (In other words, don't hold down CNTRL and take out the xyz) Sometimes you get better setups than the one you had in mind. This is coming in with very dramatic lighting on the buildings. I haven't changed the intensities or anything either. Headed to bed, it's going on 3am, but if this is even halfway decent I'll show you sometime tomorrow morning. Nite!

One thing I would dearly love to have for the groceries would be a grocery bag, an eco-friendly cloth bag, or something to carry groceries in. I would also like to see some vegetables like celery, carrots, a loaf of bread, and some hotdog or hamburger patties. I think it would be fun to render a character carrying groceries down the street, and these would be great props to use with that. Or perhaps a character dropping groceries and having them spill out of the top of the bag.

Regardless, I love the set. Lots of detail here. It is an excellent addition to your food props.

    Hi Serene,

I just saw your post today. Thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked the set.

I know you've already seen the Everyday Snacks set, but right now, I'm finishing up another related pack - Everyday Food - should be out in early November. It's more oriented towards cooked meals and also includes a range of 'tupperware-style' plastic containers. The loaf of bread you mentioned is in it, along with meatballs and a lot of other food. (I also made a carrot, but didn't include it as it wasn't really part of the cooked food theme).

I plan to continue expanding the Everyday range, and I have quite a few other packs in mind, all with a large variety of common household objects or miscellaneous 'junk' to add detail to your scenes. (Grocery bags are already on my to do list).

Remember, I'm always open to suggestions, so if there's anything you can think of that might be good, I'll make a note of it and do what I can.

    cheers

    mac

I already have all the Everyday's in that list :) I haven't used any of them but I'll get there.
A craft oriented room sounds really cool. Remember, I don't know what already exists in these other Everydays- but my first thoughts were a roll of stickers, popsicle sticks, bottle of glitter glue, embroidery thread container (the one with multiple squares, can also hold beads) beads, roll of thin wire, wood stampers, ink pad for stamps, fabric markers, regular markers. And scissors that make fancy edges, in addition to the regular ones. Do we have transparent shoe boxes? Crafters use those to store things. An Everyday Hobby would be awesome, as more kid scenes could be done too. Just Google Michaels.

Here's the Anamnesis and Requiescat test render without any tweaks, using my dinosaur lighting.
Click to enlarge then click again, it's a large render. You'll see the ivy floating off the ground on the left, etc. Again, this is the first test render of many :)

I'm not sure about a hobby room because it would be a bit 'specialist', if you know what I mean. I prefer to go with a wider theme.

I've already made some of the items mentioned and others are on the list. Things like cotton, scissors, paint tins, rollers, etc. I've made a note of all the others, and I'll see what I can do.

To give you an idea, my household list has things like mop & bucket, brush & pan, shopping bags, batteries, storage jars, cushions, and so on. Then I have another 'junk' list - tied-up newspapers/books, broken furniture & applicances, cardboard cartons, etc.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Mac- your sets are awesome, and your expanded food set sound like an auto purchase to me! Thanks for making it. I went out and bought your labels and signs at your recommendation and it worked out fine. I made a gift for a friend and quite a few people liked it! Thank you.

I love your everyday snacks as well. The only one I do not have is your primitives and makeup.

The only thing I can think of would be the following:

    1. Sign expansion: A neon sign set, city signs: (Larry's used car lot, bistro, coffee etc),

    2. Foodwise: a movie theater expansion with popcorn, snacks, and those slurpee like things, sodas, hard candy licorice drops and whatnot. You might make a 'mini' pack that included a small suite of items. Would love separate popcorn morphs.

    3. Utensils, chopsticks, fork, knife, spoon, napkin.

    4. Finally, as much as I admit, it there is a great need for trash. Spilled food, papers, crumpled wrappers, empty containers, etc. I am always looking for 'trash' for urban scenes.

    5. In the sign theme, a set of 'patches' for clothing for both a military, sci-fi, and service look would be great.

6.: A birthday cake with lightable candles, wedding/anniversary cake.

Uh, those are the only suggestions I have. =-) Thanks for all that you do, and can't wait to see the new set.

    Anamnesis / Decrepitude
    Reparation / Requiescat
    A Curious Passage

    http://www.daz3d.com/a-curious-passage

Glad you found the links Kharma :) I was going to list them as I gave this explanation in case people were interested. I try to feature quite a bit of the Platinum Club items as there are so many gems to be explored. I'm experimenting with mixing the Anamnesis with Reparation (which has the bricks and stairs.)

I'm rendering something else so can't show different views of this one at the moment, the image you saw is actually the backside the structures- if you imagine a square, this would be the view if you were on the bottom horizontal line shooting up toward the top of the square. You can see some of the things I was going to explain later, so I noted them and we'll get those out of the way. Using the same render, here we go:

Note Anamnesis is the one closest to you. I highly suggest clicking on the link and viewing it, as I changed it/used pieces. The stairs and back structure with brick is Reparation. Again, view the product page to see how it is originally.

In the image below, here's the notes:
    1. TIP: If you're tying in two buildings, try moving some of the vegetation so the two buildings share it as a theme. The ivy in number one came from the building in back.

    2. The railing was taken out of Anamnesis so the people could go up the stairs / connect the flow of people traffic.

    3. Same here- railing gone. The other two (both not shown) are still there.

    4. See the building in back (Reparation) with the columns? Well, that is number 4 too. TIP: Take off the top and columns of a building and use the base and stairs to make a separate platform.

LOWER the platform so you change the number of stairs and appearance totally! Look at the height on number 4- and I'm still playing with it. The stairs coming out the back with the little ornate topper ON THE GROUND show you how low the platform was lowered. (Look in the very bottom right corner.)

    5. This is going to be tricky to explain with just this view, but here goes. See those two columns on the right? They are in a "strip" of columns and connected with a beam across the top. So you have 3 columns with that beam across them. I used TWO of those strips and made an "L" but you'd have a problem if you tried to do that- the last column from Strip 1 would only be a few feet or inches from the end column in Strip 2. (Each strip has a column on the end, obviously, and one in the middle.)

Let's start with the Strip of Columns closest to us. This view wouldn't be shown in my render, keep that in mind.
What you are seeing in number 5 is the strip embedded into Anamnesis. THE COLUMN IS HIDDEN INSIDE ANAMNESIS. There was an unwieldy gap between the column strip and the building, it looked awful. I did that temporarily, what I will do is just make it INVISIBLE using the Surface tab and changing the opacity to zero. (Again, remember I was just plopping and testing the lights in this one.)

    6. The #6 refers to the column on the end (which you can't see) but also the middle column in this strip- WHICH YOU CAN'T SEE. I went into Surfaces and made the middle column invisible because it was coming down right in the middle of the stairs. What I haven't done yet...these strips of columns are from Anamnesis and they have individual columns, I will put one on either side of the staircase. If they didn't have individual ones, I would bring in two column strips and hide everything but the column I wanted. Presto, one column. (Do that twice to get a column on each side.)

Now about the #6 which is the column on the end- it is invisible also. Basically, I just have the top strip that runs across! To tie all this in with the Reparation structure, I'll duplicate some of that ivy for the columns later.

I've got to work on this a lot more, but that's what I'm doing. In addition to a couple other products which I'll share this weekend. :)

If you haven't seen this before, it's a must see- the demonstration of Miss Fisher's dress for Genesis. It's rare to get this store on sale, and I'm tier 2 again (thank goodness for those 1.59 and 1.99 products) and I've been waiting for months for this store. If you were going to get ONE dress, these (for Genesis or Genesis 2) would be IT. Slide a dial, the dress fits the pose.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU-NkIzRYWw
http://www.daz3d.com/miss-fishers-wardrobe-fabulous-dress is the product for this video.

So I'm getting only Miss Fishers (for Genesis and Genesis 2) and that's it.

If you have a code for week 3: here's a few with at least one product 40% off and the code should stack.

    Hi Serene,

Thanks for the suggestions. I thought about signs a while back, then I saw a set in the DAZ store. I can't remember the name, but it was a bunch of neon signs, pretty much what I had in mind, so I gave up on that one. (DAZ won't accept products which are too similar to existing ones). However, I may do an add-on pack for my Streets product which would include neons

The Food pack has a knife fork and spoon in it, and I'm now adding a napkin, thanks to your suggestion. I'll put chopsticks on my list. Trash is definitely something I'll be looking at, and I also have a list of ideas for presents - birthday cake, easter egg, etc.

    mac

Edit - Quick update. I just made some chopsticks and they'll be included in the Food pack.

    http://www.daz3d.com/dragonfish
Well, I'm having fun. The DragonFish has been on my wishlist (Love DinoRaul) and it's $15.95, 40% off for PC members (instead of 30%- all month long we get the extra 10%) makes it $9.57, and with my tier 2 take $6 off any product, I snagged it for $3.57

I'm proud of myself, I went without a couple twelve packs of Pepsi and quite a few fast food stops and actually saved enough to get to tier 2. It's a game I play so I keep track of what money is flying out the window, when I have perfectly good food (and water!) at home. I've started taking a bottle of Dasani water and refilling it to keep with me all the time so I don't stop in for Coke or Pepsi. Lost a few pounds too! :) If you can get to tier 2, it's worth it for the $6 off, the 44% off the stores where there are products at 50% or even 30/40%. (But you may have to lose a few pounds to do it if you're like me, lol. It's a good thing!)

I did get Miss Fisher's Wardrobe for both Genesis and Genesis 2, and frankly it's because I don't see myself buying anymore dresses unless they are 70% off. Miss Fisher's is so superior with the morphs that it isn't even funny to compare most of the other long dress morphs that I've experimented with. (So far as sitting down, running, striding.) Kharma, will you post your render that you did on that other art studio thread so folks can see it?

Just to let you know, if you darken Jungle Ruins to 156/123/112 it can go quite nicely with Ancient Prophecies Props Sarcophagus, the stairs/base, and the scull. You can lighten or darken from there, but that is the shade that is marbled into the stone (or very close to it.) I would probably lighten or darken it so the sarcophagus stands out more. Remember, Jungle Ruins has light gray stones. You can see the stones in the background of the smaller image showing the steps and the skull.

If you can't afford Ancient Prophecies, these pieces go great as stand alones. Good looking skulls- so far as skulls go, eh?

What have you bought during these sales Anikad?

Far too much stuff. I used the 44%/40% coupons in conjunction with other sales. I picked up all of Rawart's Gen items which I didn't already have from the Halloween sale with the 44% PA coupon. This week so far I've bought castle turret, Ultramarine ocean, rock demon, gingham shaders, Pc bundle and a bunch of curious/dubious / carnival stuff. Most of which I managed to use the PA coupon on. I think Daz has cottoned on to that little loophole. I don't see many DO vendors listed in the coupon list this week, even though there were some DO's released last week.

Today's review is Drone Thunder by Petipet
    http://www.daz3d.com/drone-thunder

This is a new release, and I must say this is quite possibly the coolest one yet. It is a highly detailed unmanned drone with two colors, a number of rockets (with little jets), lots of movements (I counted 13) and a really cool and unique method of 'flight.' The engines fire up to reveal a kind of blue spirally energy beam which allows the drone to hover in the air. Very neat! The coffin-like front opens and you can load the front up with rockets, each rocket having a forward movement option called 'Start' which if you point your Drone correctly will launch out towards an opposing enemy. (This is a good way to check that your drone is in the correct position for battle). The rockets also have a 'fire' option to turn on a small orange fuel flame in the back, but you have to click on the rocket and click down beneath it to the 'fire' to turn it on.

I chose to render Thunder Drone in Stonemason's Winter Terrains http://www.daz3d.com/winter-terrains-for-daz-studio think the added fog and haze heightens realism here. I added additional spotlights to starship Colo which is running interference and to the drones when needed to make it more visible. Lighting used is default winter terrain lighting.

Image 1: Drone Thunder, Dragonfly Vs. Colo No postwork just fun.
Image 2: Launch torpedoes! (okay, just kidding, that’s a rocket but you get the point).
    Image 3: Fun with angles
Image 4: Yellow version of Drone Thunder. Less haze, from the front

To increase realism I’ll probably take this into photoshop without the laser fire and add some smoke and laser beams. I’d recommend Ron’s War Elements if you want to explode your drone- About the only thing the drone needs is a energy shield to protect it- but knowing Petipet’s skill at making lasers and energy add-ons for her vehicles, it is only a matter of time, before a transparent shield is developed.

Overall, I love this little guy. What a great product,

It looks good. Flip that floor and see what it does as a backdrop, looks pretty detailed :) Can use it in portraits perhaps. Thanks for letting us see it and get your opinion on it- I've wishlisted it, perhaps it will be in the December sales.

Drone Thunder looks impressive when those doors open to show its firepower. I'd hate to be on the receiving end. I also wondered what it would look like in a smaller version- I think it would be fun to have a pesky little drone no bigger than a couple feet, flying behind someone and shooting little "darts" at them :) The Dart Patrol, lol.

Okay, back from the ranch and here's the end of the sarcophagus from Ancient Prophecies PROPS. (Not in the main product.) Isn't this detail neat?!

That skull looks good. I don't have any props like that!

Okay you, I show you a neat, totally detailed sarcophagus, and you like the skull!!! (giggle)
Reminder to folks- the gift certificates are still on sale at this hour. If you're going to be buying from the vendors' stores that will have the code discounts due to reaching tier 1 or tier 2, think about getting the gift certificates.

EDIT: BTW- that base which the sarcophagus is sitting on would also make a neat backdrop- love the marbled look. I may flip that sucker and try it when I get done with what I'm rendering (going back to Anamnesis/Reparation)

The sarcophagus looks good. I think the only thing that bugs me is the edge of the lip at the top. It looks like it has a wood grain to it. It draws my eye to it every time, because of the rest of the thing looks like stone. I can't figure it out. =-)

You should check Age of Armor's new spotlights. At last I can get that Atmospheric Effect volume camera to look good without hours of work.

Yeah, that caught my eye too- what it looks like to me is stretched out marble texture. It doesn't fit with the rest of the sarcophagus. I'd use the prop at a different angle, that's for sure.

And hey, Merlin is one of the feature promo artist- yea!!!!!
I'm now at tier two, didn't get his bundle as I already had one of the two items. I got the ruins of the temple, the country dining room, so I am qualified. Was going to get the ghost thing, but I am holding firm to no more spending unless it's one of my fav vendors like Merlin. BTW, the ghost thing has a mention of Genesis 2 Male. Still hoping that will be the tier 2 rewards for the Mega Prize.
