I did pick up a few of Dreamlights ready made sets but will redo the main lighting. I am just keeping all those itty bitty lights for those in the wall. I got:

Outpost 17 for Planet Lava and Enchanted Forest
    Eternal Romance for Village Courtyard
    Dream Lounge

and two of the fast grabs which were also tier discounted.

    Today's Review is:

    DAZ Lamb by DAZ
    http://www.daz3d.com/daz-lamb

Okay, I admit it. I like DAZ lamb. I think he is seriously cute. And he poses well, and can look really good in renders. The lamb is sold separately from his poses (buy those separately), and he comes in both a shorn and plain version. He is white, but I’m sure you could experiment with his mats and diffuse to see if yes… .You can make a black sheep. =-) In the first render, the two lambs in the back are unshorn and thus sort of plumpity. This is actually a morph that plumps the lamb up from his default shorn state to unshorn. I experimented and tried to max out the morph dials, but the morphs seemed to go on forever, but he only became so curly. =-)

He has a number of expressions too, such as smile, disgust, happy etc. These are useful (to me), to vary the lamb’s expression so he doesn’t look entirely blank, although I resist giving the lamb too much human expression as the idea of a grinning or smiling lamb kind of creeps me out.

Of course it would be great if the lamb had an actually wooly texture, and I’m sure once DAZ gets around to retrofitting some of these models someone might make a preset. But the base model here is still actually quite good.

Anyway, this is DAZ lamb. =-)

    The first Image here is:
    1. Three DAZ lambs frolicking and looking cute.
    2. This is one of my earlier works. I wanted to try to fit the lamb on the shoulders of the shepherd =-) I

Plumpity- I like that. Vendors could say....
"The morphs on top of the hair will plumpity the crown and ..."
"The plumpity of the skirt provides a hint of an era gone by..."
    "Cheek morphs plumpify the child..."

Anyway, the lambs look good! Very plumpity. :)

Yes, I'm liking the whole plumpity thing. :)

I'd passed the lamb as I was worried the lack of wool would leave it looking a bit too much like a plastic toy. It looks so cute here though, I can see it frolicking in my Predatron grass and weeds sometime soon!

Heh! Yeah, I admit I like 'plumpity.' To describe a plump critter or person. Sadly the lambs can't get extra plumpity since the dial doesn't go that high. There is a nice illusion of wool on the lambs which works better than most painted on skin textures.

Well, M6 is nearly here. I really can't wait. I really hope this hair has an adjustable hairline because the sideburns appear to be emerging from above his eyebrow. I like the rest of the hair, but the hairline in that area is way too close looking.

    So, the galleries are here.
And the Art Studio section will in all likelihood remain buried, no links in the drop down menu when you go to Forums. No links anywhere unless you GO to Forums and scroll down to find us. That's okay, we love to plumpify things on the low-low and only talented people who know how to dig to find us will continue to benefit. HOW many times have I read in The Commons and New User forums "I didn't know that existed!"

And the galleries are not working right for me.
Remember if you post there, DAZ can not only USE your work, but modify it, combine it with other things, etc. All my work will have my name where they cannot use the image and edit it out. Not that they'll ever use my work. I had Cloud Fare issues and couldn't use the forums when everyone else could, and now the gallery is screwing up. I don't care if everyone else can use it, I CAN NOT and it isn't me. I tried Firefox in addition to Chrome- but it should work in Chrome anyway. No go. Did hard refreshes, no go.

    Ron's Brushes- Tips http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/32428/

Remember to keep checking the Reference Links section, I add new things when I find them. You can get to it easily from the first post. I thought this was interesting on how to do a dark layer etc to make the effects pop.

I know a lot of users have really wanted galleries. I admit, this is not a feature I intend to use. I like using facebook for my images. Hopefully we'll be able to continue to use the art studio thread for reviews and tutorials.

    Gallery: Novica's Nook
I'm not sure if this is the right way to link the main page or not. This will have the renders in one spot so it will be easy for you to find. Not all will be posted, just my favorites/well lit ones. If this link doesn't work, let me know. And of course, if you like them, a thumbs up would be appreciated :)

Also- Tramp, Barbult, Jindi, Kharma, Anikad, Jaderail, mori_mann, Ivy, simonJM, RaindropDrinkwater, and other contributors to this thread - feel free to post links to your galleries also if you have one. Will be happy to surf in and visit your gallery.

Thanks for the offer, Novica -- I only have one render up at the moment but will post a link as soon as there's more to see.

The gallery will be useful as a way to showcase images and keep up with what others are posting (there's people there who I've never even come across in the forum), but I don't see it replacing Art Studio and this thread in particular. Hey, maybe if we upload a render to the gallery featuring an item that's been reviewed over here, we can even include a note in the description to stop by here and check out the review? Just a thought.

I've been putting the reference to the Art Studio thread in all my "descriptions" as my tutorials/opinion are only going to be here.
If you already have a gallery, it doesn't matter if there's only one render, feel free to post it if you want to. I've got to go back and downside mine, they are taking too long to load. But then again, the site is really busy too.

Your images loaded very quickly for me. I do have a pretty fast internet connection, though.

Should have known, you're one step ahead. :)

I'm going to hold fire on visiting and uploading to the gallery for the rest of this weekend. I don't much care for the turn things have taken there due to lack of moderation. I know the forum mods can't do a lot about it, so it looks like we have to wait it out until next week.

Well, I'm back after SEVEN HOURS of Cloud Fare. (rebooted, hard refresh, cleared cache, rebooted, yada yada yada.) This is ridiculous. I can get to the site to shop, and can get to the galleries. It is saying the site is having excessive load- and I bet the galleries are one of the causes. Great. That won't abate anytime soon either. I also think the galleries are a mistake and agree they should NEVER have been started without a full time moderation staff- and there should be a limit as to how many images from one artist are on the front page or in the main gallery. Many sites only show your LAST posted image, so you get a variety of artists, all equally represented. Works for me.

Like "Surprise!" that some people are going to just post whatever they want without bothering to read what is required. I've only got a gallery because eventually I'll link to it from a website, and use it to get people to a website, depending on how high a ranking the gallery has with search engine optimization. Traffic volume can help with that (along with other things) so we'll see.

I've curtailed my shopping due to the animal sale, stacking PA stores tier sales, Stonemason sale. M6 is the only thing I'm buying unless something else is highly discounted- I've got to save for Christmas for my family- and they don't want DAZ, lol.

OT: BTW, if you're not watching Best Buy's Deal Of The Day, you've missed some great deals. I got a $70 SanDisk - Ultra 32GB microSDHC Class 10 Memory Card for $28 to use in my video camera! (Class 10 is excellent- Many video cameras come with Class 4. I think my son said that is the transfer rate. I just needed more GB, lol.) The deals change daily and not sure what timezone.

You might be able to find some good external hard drives (to store your DAZ content) as a Deal. I got my 2TB that way last year and it was the brand I wanted. (My Passport) There is a good discussion on storing content here btw: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/32467/

When loading an object in a big scene, I didn't know this. Thanks to Jimmy_C, I do now! So instead of having to move the obect from where it loads, you can choose where it loads into the scene.

"Hold down the Alt key, click on the object you want to load, drag the mouse into the viewport, and you will see a sort of target shape. When the target is where you want the object to be, release the Left Mouse Button."

    This is the thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/32494/

Ooh 7 hours, that's really bad. Hope the load gets sorted soon. The site has been slow for me but I think that is a combination of my internet speed not being what it should be 76mbps (currently 9.5mbps) and the load on the site.

I've tried looking at the galleries - never seen the nudity that everyone else is seeing. I think it would help if they put the TOS on the gallery page. Expecting users to act as unpaid moderators really isn't going to work. They need to set it up so each picture is moderated, at least for the first couple of months so people get the message.

Part of me feels really bad for the vendors in the most recent sale - particularly those who ended up finding their products were discounted by more than 50% thanks to voucher stacking. It's got to be a hard blow if you weren't expecting it. On the other hand I stocked up on loads of stuff. I'm not planning on buying M6 until Daz has another blow out sale, all the same I need to hide my credit cards!!!

I know, I feel the same way. But I think the volume of sales helps balance that out. I know I bought things I'd waited six months for, and would have continued to wait had they not been so deeply discounted and tempting. From the number of posts on people "cleaning out" their wishlists, I think Stonemason and other vendors got the volume to at least help compensate for those stacking ones. I think that's why we have nice PC items too- it's volume vs higher price. Did you get anything from Stonemason?

I think I went a bit overboard on stonemason stuff
    City Ruins Bundle
    Urban Bundle 1-3
Enchanted Forest & Return to the Enchanted forest
    Streets of Asia 2 & 3
    City Ruins: Vehicles
    Derilict Corners
    WoF: Island Castle
    Greeble City Blocks 1&2
    Rubble 1 to 3
    Winter Terrains
    Sci-Fi Consoles
    Urban Sprawl 2
    Sector 15
    Village Courtyard
    Streets of NYC
    One Tree Hill
    Whispering Wall & Amplified
    Skybike
    The Display Room
    City Ruins 3 & 4
    Urban Future 3
    Utopia Labs
    Streets of Mediterrean

This was the first order, I did a couple of others when that $5 coupon appeared. Things I was debating over getting. I'm going to start rendering the smaller sets next month. The large sets will kill my pc but the sale was literally too good to pass up. My credit card bill does not thank daz.

You got good stuff! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it- feel free to share it with us and tell us what you think. (But that's easy- it is, after all, Stonemason.) :) Do you have a favorite/ used any of it so far?
