Glad I wasn't the only one who was "Oh really?!" It took me forever to realize I could click on an item in Parameters then use the bracketed + tool (right under magnifying glass) to zoom in on the view of an object in the scene. (yes folks, you can. Don't scroll and scroll!)
I noticed The Phoenix. It's a fun bird to have.
Predatron and Smay are having flash sales right now...=-)
Art Collaborations 50%, MERLIN IS 60% right now. (Go to New Releases, the banner)
I got The Forge and Saxon Settlement, been waiting on those. I have everything else that Merlin makes I think, except the Saxon Ruins and one other thing. If you haven't checked out the settlement, they come with detailed INSIDES as well. Loaded with props.
Folks, what was the product that I showed you which had the cell (gobos I think they're called) where I put the tree limb shadows onto the casket for BRC Empathy? I'm tagging the products over in my gallery and we discussed the Atmospheric Effects Cameras, but that was the fog. What was it that does those shadows? I think Age of Armor (nope, that was Atmospheric Effects) or Predatron , I'm going to go look. And BTW, if I am not online, it's CloudFare again. Someone was suggesting the ray error was due to not updating MY computer, but it wouldn't happen the same time every night if my computer was at fault. So around 9pm on, I may be kaput again.

Thanks, was driving me NUTS. I reviewed that, plus the Atmospheric product, one right after the other and couldn't remember for the life of me. Going through 50 pages to find it wasn't an enticing option.
Today’s Review is Skybike2 by Stonemason
http://www.daz3d.com/skybike2
It really probably doesn’t need to be said how awesome the bike is. Stonemason’s name is synonymous with quality products and this bike is no exception. It had a lot of fine details including jets for the back, taillights, and panniers canteens other nice little extras. Details and Details are what makes this bike stand out. Morphs have been added to allow the bike’s front to swivel side to side, and every aspect of the bike has been carefully crafted to maximize on the science fiction theme adventure theme.
The thing I especially like are the little lights which were added to taillights and other lit portions of the bike. They just look quite simply awesome and render so well. It is details like this I wish were available on more sci-fi models.
The bike comes with several poses for gen 2 female. I did test the poses out with Victoria 6 and M5 and adjustments had to be made to make these characters fit the bike. I also experimented with shrinking the bike slightly to fit characters a wee bit better. The base riding pose looks a touch stiff to me so you may have to experiment some. I am curious how this will render for others.
One thing I hope for is a texture expansion, and some more poses especially for m6, and using the double seat.
I used the bike here to render this action scene. If you don’t know already, I really enjoy action-orientated rescue scenes and love rendering characters in tense death-defying situations. This bike is a wonderful addition to any sci-fi render.
Oh, I did experiment with attempts to make the headlights shine. That was quite a challenge, and never got a really good look. If anyone has a tip, let me know. =-)
Neat camera view- you really feel like you are in the scene as a viewer. Did you get that Simple Godrays product? I don't know if the beams would work and if you could adjust them for "shine" from a headlight.
yeah, I bought the godrays product. I experimented with it for a few days, but I found it didn't look the way I wanted on smaller things like headlights.
Check your DIM! Genesis 2 MALE starter essentials is downloading now. Hopefully I can get it on my starbucks wifi connection before lunch is over!
Woo Hoo! Can M6 be far behind?
Woo Hoo! Can M6 be far behind?
Tomorrow I think if this is any judge! Trying to get it downloaded before I have to go back to work. I'm at 92% LOL
EDIT: Yep, just under the wire. See ya'll later. Gotta get back to the desk.
Here's a quick first look. He comes with these clothes and some poses.
And he comes with a surfboard. How cool is that?
Here's a render of Gen2 base Male wearing Ashe for Genesis http://www.daz3d.com/ashe-for-genesis
Ashe is a fantastic outfit by Umblefugly and if you haven't checked out the promo art for the textures which I used here you certainly should: the promo artist had a great time adding tons of cool little critters to the background, and the promo art is really quite clever: Ashe Textures http://www.daz3d.com/ashe-textures
M6 is here. The Pro Bundle is 51% off or $81.32, with the tier 2 discount he is $56.92. While I appreciate the discount, that is going to be tough for people who expected a cheaper Mega Prize (or free one.)
Will chat later, I'm shopping and exploring.
So I bought the Pro Bundle and everything except the plain shirt/pants- I want to see what other items can be used on M6 first. Buying the Pro Bundle and the other stuff except that one item came to $82.07 for Tier 2. (took off $35.17) That was with the 30% discount for being Tier 2.
Won't be rendering M6 anytime soon, I still have the RRRR contest to do and not going to divert for M6. I'm sure Serene Night (who is drooling over M6) will be along shortly to provide the M6 input. Sarge has got competition!
LOL. Poor Sarge.!
Picked up the pro bundle. I'm not keen on Brandon personally. Goth/anime are not to my taste, and since he's bundled with both starter and pro, can't get around it buying him, but everything else looks good. Can't wait to see some...Darker skinned and more mature looking men. was hoping for a skin in the pro pack.
Other than that, didn't get a huge discount on the bundles, being only in tier 1, but good enough.
To be honest, I have a LOT of products that I haven't a clue how to use. I haven't switched skin materials on people, all this convert-this-to-work-with-that hasn't been used. I'm really, really scaling back as I haven't tried SO much of the stuff I already have, and Christmas is coming and I'd rather spend on family members.
I wasn't particularly wowed with the bundle but with tier 2 discount, it was fine (30% more) for the price. With 10%, I wouldn't be as happy. However, I do tend to use a variety and frankly the boxing stuff is usable as a swimsuit! (I mean that in a good way.)
Speaking of which, I found a thread from today:
Clothing: Fitting M4 To Genesis 2 Male http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/32596/
Hey Novica, I have about 1700 products waiting to be installed including M6 now, and I haven't even tried most of them yet. I did try out SRMS, GenX, and converted some V4 skins over to G1 and G2. Most of it was pretty simple with a few questions and reading the manuals. I am sure once I get installs and categories done, I will get back to converting my older stuff and it will be much easier after doing a few.
Hi Kharma :)
I remember when you first posted about doing the conversions- believe me, you're on my radar :)
Serene Night and I were chatting behind the scenes as to what our purposes were with buying all this stuff. You've got a lot too- any plans?
Did you set up a gallery? I'm taking my time and putzing with it- IMO the gallery is flooded with works in progress, porn, etc. The truly works of art are being quickly buried at any given time by the overposting of one person flooding all their stuff. I believe the term is dumping. If you do a gallery, remember to mention it here- we'll send folks your way.
Lol @ on your radar...I consider that a great place to be...I have to say your thread is one of the first I check to see what's new and interesting. :)
DAZ is simply a past time for me, at one time I had a webpage where I posted ascii art which I did in the pirch forums, then I got involved in PSP which also lead to creating graphics for webpages, which lead to finding DS.
Maybe I will do a site again where I can post the renders I make for people to download backgrounds for their screens or something. Maybe art calendars, depends..right now I work 6.5 days a week, 10 to 12 hours every day. I am lucky in that I can bring my laptop to work with me as the afternoons are fairly quiet some days and I can play a bit.
If and when I have some really good renders I will post them maybe in the gallery altho I like the art studio threads and hope that people will continue with posting their work here and commenting on them. I like the more personal touch and feeling here.
Thank you!
Yep, believe me, after seeing the gallery, and even before that, this thread isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Your art studio thread also has that nice personal touch- and classy. (Reminder, folks should check it out.) Kharma- you need to get a banner with your art studio thread linked in your signature. It will show up everywhere you have posted, even in the past, and that would be good advertising for you. SO many people don't know this section exists.
I don't have ours full sized because I think that size is obnoxious. I don't want people to groan as they scroll and scroll past it.
Here's another tip from the forums:
If anyone is confused about what those new products do (I am personally in DUH land) here's a good explanation of the UV map for M4 to the Genesis 2 Male, the difference in products, etc.

So I take it you aren't a fan of The Crow starring the late Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee)? :)
Promo pic #8 makes the connection clear.
Nice work tjohn!
BTW, I went to your gallery and never got the images up. Of course, I'm having trouble with anything that has to do with the galleries being slower than molasses, but I refreshed twice in ten minutes and all I could see was you had three sections. Images wouldn't come up. Out of curiousity- how large are your files? I've had to drop my dpi down to 115-125 and resample to 800 pixels either way, to get a faster loading time.
Thank you! If you mean the separate boxes, the images don't show up for me either. If you click on a box (Bryce, DAZ Studio or Digital Painting) you should see the individual thumbs.
That particular Eric Draven image is a digital painting I did in 2005, but I haven't put it in the Gallery yet, and I may wait a bit now, as there are going to be a lot of Crow tributes going up soon. This is the Brandon M6 character I was talking about in this quick render. Since the hair and Brandon are in the Bundle, including that makeup... :)

No, can't say that I am a fan. Not an anti-fan, just went through my goth phase in high school, and not into rendering goth or anime figures. Great renders though! =-)
My preference is for more general types of skins and characters in pro packs. Pro packs for me should be more all-purpose. When content gets too specific to a genre, I think it is better to sell a special set so fans of that genre can pick it up. There is so little stuff for male characters, making things too niche means they are hard to use over and over again. At least that's my take. =-)
Of course, I don't work for daz, and they clearly don't market to my tastes- otherwise M6 would be a older and buffer, and the hero shape wouldn't have been dropped. (that I can tell). =)
Tjohn-Your images should show up in those gallery folders- don't know why they aren't. Mine show the mini thumbnails in each folder, although I dont know what other people are viewing. But the fact that yours aren't showing up for you seems like something is amiss. When people click on your gallery, that page should come up with the child galleries and then from there click on the individual images. (which takes forever for me.)
