There are a couple over on Rendo, but as I actually know and hang out with a few ladies who are very in to the whole EGL scene, I can attest that they are not (in fact) actually EGL-based. They're similar, but not "it" really.

    ??

There's really an 'it' for them to be?

    What are differences?

With all the ways to change textures/morph the item, does it have to match 100%, especially for a free item?

I admit, I may have come off a bit particular for a freebie request. Wasn't intending to cause a frooferah, but what I'm getting at is that something like this dress is actually too "cupcake" for the style.

For comparison, the usual EGL style has full coverage sleeves, higher necklines, more refined hemlines, etc. Rather like these.

To me, it looks mostly to be difference in textures/material than really one of 'style'.

Most of the stuff coming up on the first Google image page seems to be that EGL stuff is 'dark'...black, shades of grey, deep reds, etc. All that can be done with texturing...which would be a bit easier to find freebies for. Cupcake to me implies light/bright colors..

There's some V4 stuff would probably work...but not all that much for Genesis.

As to the cheongsam/qiapo there is one for the MFD...and since it looks to be textures/transparency maps, it should work on the Genesis version of the MFD...

I do have the Genesis MFD. About the only thing these don't do for what I need is the leg slit. I may or may not be trying to recreate a scene from the opening of Temple Of Doom...

You know, I got the Genesis MFD when it was on sale on time for next to nothing...and I hardly ever use it...but before I got it, there was a ton of stuff I wanted it for.

Plus, most of the V4 MFD textures work on it...and there's like a bazillion free ones for the MFD.

Ok, I'm not sure where to direct this request...
I am willing to pay for quality work, and any serious designer may contact me regarding this. The item I need is for book illustration purposes and is a rather urgent request.

I have a primitive clothing prop already created to give you an idea. I lack the skill and time to make this into what I require. Here is a short list of needed features:
    1. Genesis
    2. UV maps for placing custom insignia on the chest
    3. Morphable lower section for sitting/action poses
    4. Ties/straps/fasteners under arms
    5. Proper bumps for a slightly thicker cloth appearance

I can send you the partial item if needed. Any help on this, even directions to a tutorial, would be appreciated. If there is a similar object in existence somewhere, please let me know.

I am in need of a good office chair. the type you might find in a bank or school office.
i have searched for days with nothing interesting.
free is always good, but i might pay if the price is right and the piece is good.
i would also LOVE to find a walk through of how to build such an item, or someone to teach me.
thanks in advance, and i love the stuff i have found here so far

I've used these two before...they are both pretty 'normal' modern office chairs...

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/details.php?item_id=55342 (this on is a bit 'fancier'...full back and has arms)

There's an 'executive' office chair and some other office furniture here...

Elele has a nice executive chair and desk, too...

You can use Poser prop files in Daz as is. They don't need converting to DAZ format.

They won't be in the Smart Content, but rather Content Library under Poser Formats in the Props folder.

excellent, one final question then (at least for now).
is there a good tutorial out there on how to create these objects?
i have played around with the primatives and done pretty well i think, but i can not figure out how to do certain shapes or bendable morphs. (for instance the curved bars on the bottom of an office chair.)

Well I did have a rather popular thread going over here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/2174/

It's buried in Nuts 'n Bolts which is found under General which is seen [up top] as the link before "Commons" when one is in the Commons.
When the forum was started, this is where they suggested one put tutorials.

A few of the basic steps:
Model and uvmap the clothing item [one piece geometry] so that upon import into D/S it "lands" exactly where you want it on Genesis.
Then select the Transfer utility to make the clothing [unless they've changed that, I'm not using the most recent edition]
Fix up the textures as you want them and "save" the clothing item ... suggested path would be:
My Library > People > Genesis > clothing > your handle > name of clothing

Any required morphs would be made after the clothing is made. I highly recommend Hexagon for morphing the triax stuff.

so the basic point is that you have to have an external program to create clothing and pose-able figures. there is no way to do this within the daz program itself??

Clothes and such? Nope. You need modelling program like Hexagon or Blender to make things like clothes and other complex models. DS4 does have Primitives to make basic shapes, but nothing too complex. It's not a modelling program.

A friend of mine wants me to do a Roman-Legion render - is there an Aquila prop out there anywhere for the legion to carry?

(Before anyone asks: No, I don't have the DAZ Eagle, so I can't just re-texture that.)

:-( Forum software refuses to make that page a workable link so ...

yes folks there is a page showing the Aquila ....

And the gold one is a large public domain image :-)

Thanks for the advice... I managed to make a workable model with Marvelous Designer Trial and the amazing transfer utility. Just thought I'd let you know :)

It's just conformed and a little problematic in posing, but works for me!
