Are you using Iray Preview in Interactive mode or Photoreal mode? That could make a big difference. Check your Draw Settings pane. I recommend Photoreal for more accurate transparency.
Haruchai > Re: Aux Viewport set to Iray.
You're right. I stopped doing that because it slowed the machine at bit, as well. In the long run, tho, it'd be a better idea. Thanks.

KindredArts > Re: Cutout shaders.
I've never noticed anything wrong with hair in the Iray viewport. No prob, knowing better what I need to know helps me to know what to study, or something like that... (I'll start with "cutout shaders." I guess that means transmaps) [It's not that I don't study. I just keeping forgetting!]

Ah, I think it's Interactive. I'll check on that! I usually cut corners for speed. Prob'ly did that. Shooting my own self in the foot.
If your system can't handle having it on permanently you can have it set to Texture Shaded, like the main viewport, and swap it to Iray whenever you want to check the scene then swap it back. It just saves having to render the main window
Sorry, my notifications still doesn't work... Looks like it might be a Linux issue.
Everyone, time for me to go back to basics! My draw settings was set on "Toon", something like that (I was half asleep). I don't remember setting it like that.
Please excuse my confusion, etc, here. I have only used DS lately for occasional quick renders for someone who has an interest in me creating D&D scenes. All I've done so far for her is render a character in various clothings.
Trying out the Fireworx idea was something I wanted to present as a sort of demo to get them interested in a wider range of images.
THANK YOU, though, for these suggestions. It very much helps me to get back into gear. Time to dig out all the old tutes now!
Cheers and happy 2020!
I was hoping to make some animated fire. I installed Fireworx today, but so far I've only made still images. Very nice, but static. I did an extensive search for threads about this, but I didn't find any.
Has anybody tried this? Any success? Any examples? Any hints or tips?
TIA
