Has anyone purchased this item? I am curious as to what it includes for content and how easy is it to learn?

I think Szark has it.

I did have it but upgraded a year or so ago to Esprit with a few more addedmodules.
I got it to see if I would get on with the program and I did. It doesn't come with a large range of content, a few biuldings, props and plants. Think of it as a teaser a taster of what could be. The version of Skin Vue is a cut down version of the full Skin Vue program. Not sure what SSS maps it has these days but it came with V4 and M4 SSS strenghth maps.
In the last thread anikad posted is am image of mine and the skin was done with Skin Vue and all the props apart from the water, terrian and clouds are Daz Studio props, posed in DS and exported in OBJ format. The Palm tress are Lisa Botanical's which the DAZ3D store doesn't have now.
Some find Vue hard to get on with, I found it very intuitive and got hooked very quickly..but I love nature and this is a perfect fit for me.
I find it intuitive and easy to use. There is some free content at Cornucopia3d.com, geekatplay.com and other sites like my farmpeeps. DAZ figures are imported as collada, however from advance info I believe the next version Vue 12 due next month will import FBX.
Are the promo pics here on DAZ made with the Frontier version without any addons?
Content probably has been added, the included content is sparse, however there are different versions of frontier or were, with content fantasy, orc, and other type bundles. The difference between Frontier and the free Pioneer version is that Frontier imports OBJ, DAE and CR2 (poser). It will include some ready to render scenes and atmospheres and basic plants. I too now have all the modules (easy to get hooked), and forget whats exactly included in just the basic. The additional modules other than ecosystem perhaps really add to animation, export and other advanced capabilities. I do recommend downloading the free Pioneer if you plan to do alot down the road, and then just jump to Studio as its where value/capability peak. Do check out the e-onsoftware and Cornucopia3d websites. Also word of caution: 95% of Vue content purchased through Cornucopia is licensed 2d and locked to that app only. You cannot use that content in DAZ, however if you upgrade to teh export module then most of what YOU create (plants, rocks terrains, clouds, materials, modeling is exportable).
The atmospheres at 3dskydome.com are made with Vue:
I just tried to import a vob file for Greeble City Blocks that came with install versions for DAZ3d, Poser, Carrara, and Vue. I got an error message saying Frontier only reads content that is locked to your license????? It says to consider adding module 3dimport. So to use native Vue content in Frontier you have to buy it from Cornucopia. That is strange since I bet I could save the Poser Greeble City blocks as a scene and import it to Frontier.
I hope there is an upgrade/crossgrade to Esprit Vue sale during the month or I will probably return this.
Locked To License in Vue refers content purchased specifically for that installation instance and must be purchased via Cornucopia3d so the assignment is made. I was wrong, looks like it doesnt import obj:
From the Fromtier Product Description:
"Vue 11 Frontier includes: Vue Pioneer SE + Static Poser & Daz Collada importer and SkinVue.
Vue 11 Frontier is fit for commercial use and renders without a logo, but does not let you import 3D models other than static Poser & Daz Studio content and Cornucopia3D locked content (you can lift this limitation with the 3DImport module, or you can create your own models using the program's modeling tools).
Vue 11 Frontier is provided "as is", without any technical support. If you need help, please visit the Cornucopia3D forums for assistance from other users."
Vue 11
Pioneer (free, locked to license content only)
SuperHero (Pioneer w/ content bundle)
Fantasy (Pioneer w/ content bundle)
Fairy Tale (Pioneer w/ content bundle)
Science Fiction (Pioneer w/ content bundle)
Frontier (Pioneer w/ DAE and Poser static figure import)
_______
Esprit (best value mix, includes import)
Studio (Includes ecosystems, animation)
Complete (Includes ecosystem Painting, and Export)
Thanks for the explanation of locked license ... I can get by with importing Poser stuff for now and play with what content it comes with. However I saw on a version comparison chart that both Pioneer and Frontier versions actually do not come with a commercial license... you need at least Esprit version of Vue. So I don't plan to add any modules to Frontier itself but wait for an upgrade to Vue Esprit. (not that I will ever be good enough to sell anything but I like to have it for entering contests etc.)
From the Cornucopia3d site which commisioned the Frontier version of Vue "Vue 11 Frontier is fit for commercial use". ( cornucopia3d.com/products/vue/vue_11_frontier/?page=0) Are you certain the comparison chart was not referencing the PLE (educational) versions of Vue?
Vue is a great program, but I just wanna warn anyone that it is a Barbie doll.
Frontier lacks many of the "must have" Vue things, like EcoSystems (making marvelous forests or anything else using hundred thousands plants or objects, That module can be added.
Frontier also lacks the ability to import .obj (which means you cannot move your DAZ content to it. I'm not sure if it can read Poser .pz3. Anyway, you need a module for that
I took that journey two years ago, and when I look back, it would have been way cheaper to Pick up Vue Artist or Vue Complete on a Sale at e-on software, even the full price of Vue Complete would have saved me around 200 bucks, and would have saved me another 300 bucks in content that was included in Complete.
So, Vue frontier is the guy at the party handing you this very cheap drug, knowing you will come back to him tomorrow.
On the other hand, Vue is a magnificent program, it renders much like LuxRender when it comes to class and complex lights but in a fraction of the time (it was a guy on the Facebook Vue group who setup the same scenes in LuxRender as in Vue, and you could not see which was which, but it has a learning curve. I prefer Vue when it comes to outdoor scenes.
I attach a Vue picture I did for the monthly PlatClub contest in may, which I think came out very well.
If you go to http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_11_complete/?page=3 and then select all the various vue 11 to compare you get an extensive comparison chart.... toward the bottom I saw the line about no commericial license.... maybe they changed it and haven't fixed the chart.
Wow! that is a great render Totte
Sweet render Totte
self promotion http://itiseyemeeszark.deviantart.com/gallery/33596082 if you want to see what Vue Esprit and Daz Studio content can do on a 32 bit Dual Core 2.6mhz with 4 GB of Ram and some images on 2 GB of ram.
Thank you! (it did give me the 1st place in the second half that month, was in may).
Anotherone done for the PC weekly I think ;-)
Used EcoSystems to populate the warehouse (which is the WestPark great room extended) ;)
Everything, almost are DAZ props exported to Vue as .obj. (You need to tweak the materials a little for that though.
Vue and volumetric lighting...heaven. ;)
I wish you could do it the same way in 3Delight. In Vue you set a light to be volumetric, not the camera, so much easier.
I know that's why I said it is heaven. ;)
Thank you all for posting your own experiences with Vue and for the beautiful renders. I think\I will stick to DS, Bryce and Carrara for now as I am still in the learning process of those and wait to purchase the complete version of Vue (hopefully on sale) when I have learned more in the programs I have now. Wow ...so much to learn, so little time ...lol
Thanks, just playing with the Pioneer version. Nice renders, but a lot of limitations it seems, and a bit slow on XP 32. I've seen some great looking Vue renders (great colors), wonder if you can make similar stuff with Carrara?

You can! I've got some of Howie Farkes stuff for Carrara and they render as good as and sometimes even better than Vue. Vue still renders faster (at least on Mac OS X) when you push Carrara to the same level as Vue in quality.

Well then I'll just stick to Carrara I think. I also have some of Howie's stuff, but only tried it on a 32 bit system where it was extremely slow to work with. Will give it a try again now that I've upgraded to 64 bit with more RAM.
Thanks!
You can do some neat stuff with Vue:
That looks real cool Dream Cutter.... I like the mysterious lights in the water.
In the sky-dome, you can see where the lights come from.
Thought I'd try out some of the Vue content I have and sparked up Vue (Frontier 11) and loaded the .vob from Streets of the Mediterranean and, of course, got the message telling me I was not allowed to. Checking the info page on the product I see that "... and requires Vue 6 Infinite, Esprit, Xtream or above". Now, does that mean that if I get the 3DImport module I will be able to load this (and other stuff) or do I have to actually buy a wholly different version of the program?
And yet more grief ... I thought I'd approach this from another direction and load a .pz3 file. But first I spotted that PP2014 can also export as Collada, so that got given a go first. Nope, no chance. I loaded a SubD dragon, gave it a texture and a pose, did an Export (setting the bake diffuse and transparency options). Vue gives the, by now, standard 'Unable to read ...' message.
So, back to pz3. Same scene, saved as .pz3 and ... nope. Apparently this time there is an "Error in the Poser SDK (scene initialization failed) ...".
This is getting depressing. :(
I think Frontier only imports DAZ (exported as Collada .dae) and Poser CR2 figures. VOB is an OBJ in essence. The fundamental limitation you have ti understand with Vue Pioneer & Frontier basically require you to purchase content from Cornucopia. No way around that limitation until you upgrade to Vue Esprit. While you could expect this with the free Pioneer version, I wish Vue Frontier's packaging was more clear in this respect especially since it is being sold at DAZ.
Vue Frontier will import collada files quite nicely, and it lets you re-pose your character in Vue and import animations. This allows you to import all of the Collada files from 3d Warehouse, and other programs.
You do have to export from Daz studio as generic collada file, and the reflections have to be set to 0 in Vue,as they all render in silver.
This is easy to do, just select all materials and reset reflections to 0.
You are not confined to using only models bought from cornucopia, you can use any collada file in Vue and save them as a VOB file.
I am a Cornucopia Club member, and in my special offers right now are the import module and renderup for half price ($99.00), essentially giving you Vue Esprit.
And as said by others here, the renders in Vue are very good.
I have no doubt at all that Vue produces exceptional results, I have seen many of them!
But, somewhere between DS and Vue, using import/export of Collada something goes very wrong. The good news is that I have worked out how to get at all of the textures to remove the 100% reflectivity (you need to edit the object and use the 'split' option).
