Yesterday genesis 8 female stopped working seems a lot of peeps having same issue need help please

I've not had any issues loading Genesis 8 Female. I've not seen anyone else posting about Genesis 8 Female not loading, did I miss the threads?

Please provide a little more info and maybe we will be able to make suggestions that will help. Like what version of Daz Studio are you using? Did you make any changes prior to G8F not loading anymore? Did you check DIM to make sure that Genesis 8 Female is still installed?

  • thanks will go check  your advice daz 4.10 and no changes just suddenly happened just gen 8 female everything else ok

Hmm Weird. I generally use the newest version of Daz Studio (currently the 4.11 beta), but I have the old 4.10 version installed as well, so I'll check to see if I have trouble loading Genesis 8 Female.

I'm using 4.10 and have not had any issues with G8F not loading. Just checked too and yep, she's still there. Bends, twists, morphs, etc.

I haven't used 4.10 in some time, but when I went to load G8F she took AGES to load - nearly TEN minutes in fact. The other figures I tried (G1, G2F, G3F, and G8M) all loaded within 20 seconds.

I'm not sure if it's related to the issue you're having, but yeah, I tried it twice. Both times she took nearly 10 minutes to load, while the other gen figures load within 20 seconds.

I don't have that issue at all with the 4.11 version that I normally use. It's very weird.

I'm still on 4.10 and G8F loads fine, no issues. Of course I have very little female content so not much to load up with her. Lots of morphs might be a contributing issue for those who are having a problem.

I have a TON of G8F content (I think I have more for her than any figure) but she loads just fine in 4.11 (she does take a little longer to load in 4.11 than my other gen figures, but nowhere NEAR the ten minutes she takes to load in the 4.10 version of DS that I have). Again though, the super long load time I'm seeing for G8F in my version of 4.10 may not be related to alania's issue.

I have no issues with G8F to load in 4.10.

She takes a bit longer to load but not 10 minutes as it is the case for Divamakeup.

I do not have 4.11 beta installed yet but I will install tomorrow and see if G8F loads a bit faster.

Do you get an error, or does it look like it is loading but after a long time it doesn't finish, or what happens? Have you recently installed any new character products for G8F? Do you use Connect?

  • looks like its loading very slow then freezes and then daz is not responding i just installed beta and same thing all other characters props load just not gen 8 and all gen 8 stuff is installed fine i havve spent 2 days trying im going nuts

Look up your help log file and see what it says. There should be something getting flagged by the log. You can also uninstall just the G8F base and reinstall her. Some data may have become corrupted somehow. Did you install or save anything before this happened? If so, there could be conflicts.

If you have tons and tons of content it could take longer to load. This is because of how Genesis is designed. When you load any Genesis figure, it loads everything. All the different morphs you have from every character you ever installed gets loaded. So the more you have, the longer it can take. This is really something I believe Daz needs to work on, because if they expect users to buy all this content, they seriously need to streamline the loading process for Studio. Its a serious flaw. Victoria 4 may be old, but the way she could load with only base morphs meant she will almost always load quickly, and then you can inject only the shapes you want for that scene. Honestly at this point I think I would prefer going back to that kind of system! It would be so much faster than the mess Genesis becomes with a large library.

Uh... I don't believe that is the case. At least not unless the connect version works differently. Only morphs that have been dialed in will be loaded. This is why loading a character that has a lot of morphs applied (set to non-zero values at some point, I don't know if setting them back to zero will strip them out the next time you save and load it) will take longer. You can see this in the Studio log. If your figure is coming in with all morphs applied there may be something else going on. But you can see what morphs load in the log when you load a new G8F figure, and you can apply some morphs and look at the log to see the morph deltas being loaded as you apply morphs.

I've been playing a lot with V4 lately, and even with all the tons of G8F stuff I have, G8F still loads faster than loading those silly morph injections. lol Plus being able to use the sliders to mix all the different morphs and create new and unique characters is fantastic. I've not been able to figure how to do that with V4 yet without the figure getting seriously distorted.

Don't get me wrong, I'm having fun playing with V4 content and rendering the cute V4 characters, but I definitely wouldn't prefer to go back to that kind of system.

It happens when I load a base Genesis with nothing else. A ton of different characters show up in my log, even though they are not being applied. When I first got G8, they loaded super quick. Now, not so much. Its not 10 minutes long, but it can take about a minute or more. This applies to every G8 I load, including the base models and even the developer kit versions. And as I said, they don't have any morphs applied.

All those morph dials still have to load, or they wouldn't show up available in the shaping or parameter tabs. How do they load otherwise?

This happens with every Genesis generation I have. No matter which one I load, there may be dozens of calls for other characters in the log.

I had such a problem happen long again, either with 4.9 or 4.10, only for the G3F instead, and I had to:

    1) Check, double-check, and possible correct all installer and DAZ Content Library path names for DIM & DAZ Connect & Poser content! Must be correct! Exit DAZ when correct.

    2) Uninstall all female model products dependant on G8F and then deinstall the Genesis 8 Essentials.

    3) Then I reinstalled the Genesis 8 Essentials and all the female model products dependant on those Genesis 8 Essentials.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I uninstalled & installed via DIM so it was relatively fast and easy to do, if you've installed all product via DAZ Connent it will take much long to do.

I think the root cause of the failure was that I in someway reinstalled DAZ Studio and messed up the path names to the various DAZ Content Libraries and such in the DIM configuration in DIM, or the DAZ Connect / DAZ Content Library in Preferences in DAZ Studio, or a bit of both, that caused some needed files that 'explained' to DAZ Studio how 'Genesis 3 Female' was shaped, to be missing so when I loaded that model she wound up being these blocky squares like a robot. If you make same mistake for Genesis 8 then you'll get similar problems.

I still work with 4.9. it tells me it can't load Genesis 8 Female (basic), but after waiting some time, it does load.

  • 3anson3anson Posts: 314

load time with both G3 and G8 depends on the amount of morphs and characters you have installed, the more morphs and characters you have, the longer they will take to load.

advice to the OP, uninstall your Genesis 8 Female Essentials via DIM, then reinstall manually. that should fix the issue.

re the difference in load times noted by some, it is not a DS 4.10 or G8F issue, as neither have had any changes recently, good bet is that a Windows update has borked something in their set-ups.

  • 3anson3anson Posts: 314

although all the morphs and characters show, only a reference that points to them is actually loaded, the morphs and characters are not loaded into memory until a dial/slider is activatedwink

All the morph files have to be read, otherwise DS won't know which sldiers to show or which other sliders will trigger or be triggered by a given slider. DS doesn't keep the deltas - the actual changes in vertex position - in memory after reading the file if the value is zero but the number of files will affect how quickly the figure loads, as (I suspect) will the complexity of their relationships. Do those of you with slow loading have Caryn, and if you do does Genesis 8 male also load slowly? What (if any) other characters or morph sets have you installed since the figure was loading more quickly?

Chances are that the Content Management System (CMS) is getting "bogged" down, either by p*ss poor Metadata or corrupt Metadata/database, and as it's a "Big Brother" system that means if it's struggling then so is DS4.

As for V4 taking ages to load, you're probably using PowerLoader, that system was garbage in DS3 and has gone downhill ever since. Best thing to do is delete the Victoria 4.2.DSB file that's in the same folder as the Victoria 4.2.CR2 file.

@cherpenbeck, like you I'm still using 4.9 however I don't get any warning about not being able to use G8, mainly because I refuse to allow the CMS on to my system, so I don't have it or the crappy Metadata telling me what I can and can't do.

I hadn't used 4.10 in a long time, so there were quite a few changes I'd made since then. I have Caryn and Tobyn - both are PA versions. For me Genesis 8 Male loads quickly in 4.10 - along with the previous Genesis generations. All load within about 20 seconds. It was just Genesis 8 Female that took ages (about 10 minutes) to load. I'm not super worried about it since I mainly use 4.11, and I don't have any load time issues with 4.11. But wanted to mention the issue with 4.10 since the OP was having trouble.

If you mean /Runtime/Support those are the metadata files used to populate the database and the product thumbnail. Without them it will not be possible to reimport metadata if you ever need to do a database rteset.

The only time Genesis 8 loaded faster than V4 for me was when it was brand new and I had nothing for it. I use both 4.10 and the 4.11 beta, though I lean more towards the beta. Sometimes I still use 4.10 though because for me the Iray renderer is noticeably faster. Not sure why 4.11 is slower, but I'm not the only one to say that. The denoiser is fun, so I use the beta for that some. That's a different topic, though.

I have no problems now but gave an example when a similar problem happened to me using G3F and DS 4.9/4.10. V4.2 loads fast for me too, considering I have a 7 year old laptop. They are saying though the G8F takes 10 minutes ot more to load but for me she loads as fast as G8M.

I only had about 6 G3F based females when I had to do that so it wasn't so massive an undertaking. It still took 2 or 3 hours though.

In DIM, if yoiu delete & redownload the support files without uninstalling those products nothing happens with them in their installed location if you're using DIM. However with DAZ Connect you've essentially reinstalled the products you deleted & redownloaded when you do something like that.

I also use DS 4.11 beta all the time as the have the viewport gizmo / mouse pointer slow to a crawl mostly fixed in 4.11 beta compared to 4.10.

still no luck loading my genesis 8 female

Have you got 'Share my usage information in DAZ Studio' checked? You should uncheck that I think.

What I have done with all the Gen 4, and earlier base figures, is load the figure and let powerloader do all the work of injecting all the morph packs etc. Once it is finished I save the whole thing as a CR2 file, and then if I need the figure later, I simply load the CR2 which already has all the morphs injected. It loads far faster. These are also the CR2 files I get generation X to load when I move a V4/M4 etc character to a Genesis 1-3.

I'm currently having problems loading genesis 8 F and have put in a ticket.  It either takes waaaay too long to load, or I get a "duplicate formula" error notices which just hangs there for a long time, or my scene crashes.  This is something new in the last couple days.  I did uninstall Caryn 8 but that did nothing.

I found the problem for me it was Mara HD for Caryn 8 after I unistalled her G8F loaded a little faster and I stopped getting duplicate formulas
