It's not bad in Carrara, but I haven't been able to get the detail designed for DS. It looks great in DS, though. Here is the Carrara version...
What Wolfgang is describing seems perfectly normal for some skin textures. If I want to get an idea of what it will look like without taking the time to render the entire scene, I just do a spot render.
Strang and new for me - but okay.
I do it in this way now too - by using the spot render.

It is not unusual to have to do dozens of renders until you get the lights just right.....it does take alot of time, but thats how the program works.
Thank you, Salem!
Still looks kind of cool!

You can either use the progressive option in Render Settings when doing test renders, which will allow you to see a coarse version of your image that is gradually refined (so you can cancel it once you have enough detail to decide if the lighting is right) or you can use the Spot render tool to render just one area of yoru image at final quality to check that part specific area, or a mixture of noth.
Wolfgang another way to see how the light is hitting is to turn the SSS setting down until you render.
Another nice one! Which armor is that?
Thanks Mariach - its the Lord of Darkness M4 armour by Xurge and the helmet is from the Paladin Plate Armour for Victoria 3
Life Plus 10...
I added the Texture map to the bump channel and set the bump to 300 and it looks a little better in Carrara....I'm sure there is a better way.

Evil Unchained
Dang, lots of cool images. Love the cage and the chains on the arms is a great idea.
Mine is taking quite a while. Darn lighting always takes me ages to get pseudo decent.
excellent pictures guys...I always love seeing the characters in use :)

hmmmm...just noticed this guy went into the store with the wrong price.
I wont bother changing the price back up to what it should have been until after the intro sale is over....so enjoy the extra bit of savings ;)

Undead Pirates
Finally! Took me forever to get the lighting the way I wanted it, but at last I too can join in the fun folks are having with Wither.
Awesome renders guys...very cool stuff :)
Love this character! Been excited for it since the preview.
ummmm...look behind you!!!! Ahhhhhh!
:)
I haven't had time to do any renders that I would want to share, but I did manage to do one last night to check out the details, and the figure is extremely impressive. I think this is your best work to date.
Thank You :)

Quick test of Wither conversion to Poser.
so, my husband and I were watching Warm Bodies last night, I've been wanting to see it for a while, and I had to laugh when I seen the "Bonies," I automatically thought of Wither
I cannot deny that I got some inspiration there ;)

lol, that's awesome, any chance of you doing a Severed product for Genesis 2? Be cool to have a Wither head or headless Wither for our renders :)
Bought Wither when he hit the Store, but I had several projects going at once, and finally finished one with him in it.
Oueen Of The Undead
Nice renders
Here is one of my one

It's a really great looking thread. Although, with 2 great zombie-esque characters for Genesis 2 Male in the store, I would looove to see a female companion for them :D
