Again, River. This is all part of your evil plot to take ALL my money. :)

Well done. Amazing product and I love it.

Converting takes a while but I am VERY happy with the end product so far. Beautiful coding.

Any news on when the G3M to G8M convertoer be out? :)

Also, I would be VERY interested in a convertor just for morphs. I believe the previous moprh converter was a pretty good selling item.

Thank you for the kind words.  smiley  The G3M to G8M is delayed while I iron out all bugs with the current product.  I want both to be out with the same fixes.  I believe Zev0 is doing a converter just for morphs.

Yeah, it's disapointing, but at this point, now that G8 has its own version of the Toon Generations as well as Cartoonize (the sample character was built before either of those were available for G8) it might be better to just start over from G8 directly. The project this character was built for will continue to use this version, but new projects will probably get new character models.

I shudder at the prospect of trying to move the G1 stuff forward. If just moving up one version went this badly, trying to leapfrog something like three sounds fairly dire.

BTW, if any morphs were actually saved from either ot those attemps, they are not where you say they are supposed to be. The Vendor name by default was presumably my name, or that's what showed up in the text box for Vendor, and there is no entry with my name in the data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/female/Morphs folder whatsoever. I checked Genesis 3 as well just in case, but nothing there either. Nothing shows up in either the parameters or the shaping pallates, either.

Admittedly, the only thing I saved was the scene, not anything else.

  • A long time ago I used Gen X & Gen X2 to transfer my favourite characters from V4 to G3F.
For its time, this was finely crafted software.
It also required the use of additional software, Blacksmith's Texture Transformer, for transfering the textures.
More often than not, I was pleased with the results, but morphs had to be transferred to G2F first.
This extra step was bothersome & reduced the accuracy of the conversion as the item was converted twice.

I am pleased to see this new product plugging the gap between G3F & G8F too, as that was a process I never got to grips with.

I do hope that, in the fullness of time, there are products launched that take our archives from M4 / V4, Genesis 1, 2 & 3 to Genesis 8 in one hit.
This would certainly be a more elegant & efficient way of doing things.
Whilst textures included would be nice, that is just the cherry on top, as far as I am concerned.

Thanks for your efforts with this product & future endeavours.

The data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/female/Morph is under the first path defined in your content manager, on Windows this is usually Documents/Daz 3D/Studio/My Library (I don't know for Mac).

Yep, totally agree, especially with the part that the conversion steps reduced the accuracy of the conversion.

I'm looking forward to the G8 Male version. I'm also interested in earlier generations. I did buy GenX, but it's no longer supported, as is mentioned above. I do have many characters that I made using M4. So, a product that would convert M4s to G8 Males would be highly welcome, even if it didn't include texture files. Someone above did request M4, so I'm just seconding this. Thank you very much for saying you are planning a G8 Male version.

There is a texture converter 2 available somewhere else, which works great with M4/V4. It really maps the bitmaps from the old UVs to the new ones. This is a great companion for converting legacy characters. Oh, I just saw that TT2 by Blacksmith was already mentioned.

I'll be picking this up, but is it safe to assume that it will not transfer HD morphs if a character is using them?

Unfortunately, you are right.  It cannot transfer HD morphs.

I wanted to know that too. What a pity. Nevertheless a great product. Just added it to ny wishlist. I already own a bunch of your products and they are all great! I have a huge V4 and M4 library, so I second a future support of this generation.

Texture Converter 2 is a very old product, that is primarily intended for converting generation 3 skins to generation 4 (eg V3 to V4). No use for getting older skins onto G3 or G8 (unless using Caymen's geografts for M4/V4 UVs). Texture Transformer 2, the Blacksmith product, is what can be used for converting Generation 4 skins into G3/G8 ones.

Would I be able to convert centaur 7 to genesis 8 with this?

The centaur is not simply a character, it uses a geografted horse body. So probably not.

So, I really was surprised to see this one. Ever since the tragic passing of Dimension3D the morph convertor-happy users like myself have been pretty much left on our own. Sure, there have been different techniques provided to us in tutorial threads us both on and off the forums, and even one of us have dedicated their time and effort to try and make a sufficient enough script to fill-in that gap, shout-out to SingularBlues. But this is the first time since the discontinuation of GenX that we're finally getting a solid, in-store PA product addressing this.

Thank you SO much for this, RiverSoftArt! :D

You are very welcome!  I knew from spelunking through the forums that there were user efforts (though I never tried them, way too busy).  After 2 years though, it didn't seem like there were any official products, and Sickleyield convinced me to try and make one.  I had no idea if there would be a market for this.  I was afraid the the "morph converter-happy" users would have already done all they needed to with home-grown techniques. smiley

Oh no, trust me. We warmly welcome ANYTHING that lets us do these things in the least amount of steps possible. :D

Yes, I have tried different centaurs (Chara, Kori and Makemba) and got nothing.

The script just not converts them at all, even with the Force option.

It could convert the “human part” but won’t do anything on the “horse part”, if that’s what you were expecting. As I said, it’s not a character but a separate mesh.

@Leana is correct.  It cannot convert the centaur.  It can do the human part but not the horse part.  Horse 2 is the latest version for horses so there isn't even anything to convert to.

Still trying to get caught up on the posts in this thread, but I have a few questions/comments.

    1) Is there a video tutorial showing how to use this product?

    2) Any idea when the g3m to g8m will be released? I need that way more than the female version, although I'm still very happy to pick it up.

    3) I agree that the g2 generation is still awesome and well loved, having the ability to transfer their morphs/figures to newer generations would be useful.
