Edit: Fixed! The problem was with duplicate Genesis 8 Female files.
Hi -
I'd like to start by saying I'm completely new to Daz Studio and all I know comes from working with a more experienced co-creator. That being said, I've followed the instructions in your Youtube video for this product to the letter and I cannot get it to work for the life of me.
I'm trying to convert Arabella 7 to Genesis 8. No matter what I do, the result is always this:
Image removed
I have tried converting the character from my library.
I have tried using the Scene Converter tool.
Having installed Arabella through Daz Connect, I uninstalled her and manually installed both her and the basic Genesis 8 Female, thinking the script was struggling to find the assets it needed because of Daz Connect.
I also manually installed the converter script.
I have tried adjusting the tolerance levels.
I even had a friend send me a converted Arabella, with exactly the same results. It looked fine for him, but when I opened the file he sent me, I had the same problem.
Now all genesis 8 characters load VERY slowly. And it throws up an error about duplicate formulas, and to check the log file.
Which I do. It says there's an issue with Rune 7.
So i delete that morph.
And genesis 8 characters still take a long time to load. averaging 45 seconds.
This is for ANY genesis 8 character.
The save directory I set was on a completely different hard drive as what Daz Studio installs to.
Please help.
There is a bug which I am addressing right now that causes issues with the JCM conversions. If you delete the JCM/MCM morphs, that will get rid of the duplicate formula errors. The converted morphs are in data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs under the FIRST directory for Daz Studio Formats specified in the Content Directory Manager (F2->"Content" tab->"Content Directory Manager..." button)
Alright. Should I delete ALL the files in the folder with JCM/MCM in the file name?
Sorry to be a bother about this. I'm really happy this converter exists. The Genesis 2 to 8 female converter works beautifully.
Looking forward to getting this working so I can enjoy dressing up my favorite Gen7s in all this clothing I have. It's a hassle to convert clothes back to older generations, and even worse that those older generations miss out on some of the features true of Gen8. (I've converted a LOT of clothing to gen8, too. Lol)
I'll eventually end up with all the converters, I think. And now I've got to look into skin converters because Sirenia of g6 has such pretty skin...

You're welcome!
Yes, all the converted morphs with JCM or MCM in the name should be deleted.
Added ability to detect and load "character" presets
Replaced Legacy Conversion checkbox with Conversion Method radio group
Added wHeadMorphPrefix option
Fixed Ignore Previously Converted option so that it works
Fixed Head Morphs not being updated
Fixed conversion to not allow empty VendorName or ProductName
Fixed conversion to not allow Character Name equal to Female or Male
Added namespace to all morph safe names
Fixed bug for Duplicate Formula Found errors (Adjusting Rigging To Shape would add bones to JCMs)
Fixed bug where JCMs/MCMs were not being set as hidden properties
I guess it's related to the specific version of the plugin... Or you expanded the G3 to G8 version?
I mean I added the same process (algorithm) to G3 to G8, which may be useful to some people. Not that I added G2 compatibility.
Better GenX transfers? I can't wait!
The 2020 method produces subtly different results than the 2019 for G3-G8. I think I still prefer the 2019 method for G3-G8, but I wanted people to have the option.
I purchased the clothing converter from genesis 3 to genesis 8 both male and female. It has always worked well without problems. Lately I had full memory on disk "C" and I changed the directory to disk "E". I don't know if this is the reason, but I am no longer converting the clothes installed for the male on the new "E" disk. The script is installed on disk "C". What can I do? do you think this is why it no longer works. Another thing, when I started it it seemed to work, but it wasn't. What do you recommend me to do? Thanks

have you seen the other more complete file below? it does not convert to any of the options. I succeeded with the female, but with the male it always gives me the same answer and does not convert. In fact in the folder there is not even a converted item of clothing

even with that it doesn't convert. It always gives me the same message
Ah. I forgot that is the mesage that is given if the LOADED clothing item is for G8M. The author of the item has already marked it as G8M (scene identification). If you really want to convert it, you will need to fix the scene id and resave the item.
No, I'm trying from E to E. Those from C to C have all been installed perfectly. What are you saying? to uninstall daz and reinstall it? I have almost 3000 products

No, I am not saying that. I thought you said you moved your stuff from C drive to E drive.
I don't know how to help. As far as Daz is concerned, the item is for G8M and that is what it tells the script.
The script doesn't work on disk C either. It seems to convert everything, it works up to the last string, but in the destination folder it's not there. I reselect the folder of the same dress that I have just converted and it gives me back all the elements as before, only that it doesn't convert them back to me. while with genesis female it works perfectly and I have converted everything, both the clothes on disk C and those on disk E

Ok, I am getting confused The female script works? On C drive and E drive? The Male script does not work on either? To be sure, have you updated to the latest versions of the products?
What do you mean by "I reselect the folder of the same dress that I have just converted and it gives me back all the elements as before, only that it doesn't convert them back to me."?

I am glad you got it working!
Trying to reference the product so it shows up in the product page:

Ran the character converter. Running 4.12.1

I have submitted an update. Hopefully it will be out this week but more likely early next week:
That sounds like it might possibly be a few steps nearer to a V4 to G8F Charcater Converter? ;)
Uh, maybe a half step
Or maybe even an M4 to G8M character converter?
I guess it's related to the specific version of the plugin... Or you expanded the G3 to G8 version?

Can you post the daz log?
here is the file
I made a new attempt
Ok, the Daz CMS is reporting the item as
You could try selecting it and force converting it.

Even with Force Convert?

and how do I correct it? but all genesis 3 clothing items?
Maybe reinstall from Daz? Did you just copy stuff from C:\ to E:\ or reinstall there?
