Hi, I have successfully converted many G3 to G8 with this product. One particular product that has given me trouble is "Chloe for Genesis 3 Female" I've tried the various conversion processeses and tried with a "Connect" install version of Chloe and a manual install version of the character. I also reinstalled the converter. I attached the result I've been getting. Any ideas ? The attached shot is for the "teen" version but similar issues with all the versions.

Huh, that you have successfully converted many characters means I really don't know how to help. Are you SURE you deleted the morphs between trying the different conversion processes?
That helped. I deleted the generated files under the "MyLibrary\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs" directory and now I am getting satisfactory results with the legacy process. Thank you for the suggestion!

1. To answer your question, the crash only happens when converting a single g3 to g8 female (using "convert scene").
2. I've checked DAZ's main log + its params morphs, and can confirm that the conversion does execute successfully. So, though I need to restart DAZ, I have the given g3 morphs converted to g8 and available for the latter's use. It's an inconvenience, but I'm grateful your scripting works!! Let me know if you want to investigate further, paste something from DAZ's main log, etc.
Meantime, thank you for making such excellent products! You're one of the best DAZ merchants out there. Keep up the great work!
That is very strange. It is always disconcerting when it is not the script that crashes but what is running it. Is there anything else in the log?
Sorry for the delay - I wanted to try out a few more and see if the problem persisted.
Here's the error from the `errorlog.xml`:
<error> <what>ACCESS_VIOLATION</what> <process> <name>DAZStudio.exe</name> <id>8592</id> </process> <module>C:\Daz 3D\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\QtScript4.dll</module> <address>0033:00000000E2E1E1BC</address> <function> <name>QScriptEngine::signalHandlerException</name> <offset>18380</offset> </function><!-- @Riversoft - the rest of this error's tags are empty, so I've removed them from this code snippet ...-->...<!-- @Riversoft - the 'registers' portion of the log had this - I assume `eflag` = `errorflag`?--><registers> <rax>0x0000000039DD0048</rax> <rbx>0x0000000006D968A0</rbx> <rcx>0x000000008F58D484</rcx> <rdx>0x0000000000000000</rdx> <rsi>0x0000000039DD0000</rsi> <rdi>0x000000000A037AC8</rdi> <rsp>0x00000000019FA9B0</rsp> <rbp>0x000000000A050370</rbp> <rip>0x00000000E2E1E1BC</rip> <cs>0x0033</cs> <ds>0x002B</ds> <ss>0x002B</ss> <es>0x002B</es> <fs>0x0053</fs> <gs>0x002B</gs> <eflags>0x00010206</eflags> </registers>...<!-- @Riversoft - the rest of the log has (I'm sure you know) a bunch of 'thread' and 'processes' entries - do you need these as well?-->
* Can you post a code block on these forums? If yes, apologies for the snippet
Also of note, this problem only seems to happen when your RSClone model is loaded into the scene (that is to say, when I don't see that clone, the process executes succesfully without crashing). Also also, I *do* get the "completed succefully" alert when this bug occurs - upon clicking the 'ok' button of said alert, DAZ crashes ... so I don't know if the crash is arrested by the alert, or percipitated by something that happens after the user's acceptance of the message (or some third option I haven't thought of).
Please let me know what further info I can provide, and thank you for taking the time to look into this!
I am stumped. Can the script convert multiple items and it is only when stopping it crashes? Or does it crash on the first conversion?
I have managed that the G8 looksafter converting similiar to the original but if i save it, the morph is gone and it looks like a normal G8.
No idea what to do, try to save it as character preset, subscene, scene. Always the normal G8.
It sounds like the conversion works but the character preset loads a normal G8? There can be occasions where the Character Preset has an error but the morphs are created. Just dial in the morphs and then resave the preset.

Exactly.
Doesn't work i try it couple of times to save as scene, scene subset or character preset.

Everytime it shows the normal G8.
Wow, that is weird. It sounds like that is some type of DS bug then.
Other than (MyLibrary\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\___), are there any other files that are actionable for the characters? I copied those, but I haven't verified the results, as I still have disk librarian chores to do.
I ask because I'm switching to a new drive, but I'm eliminating a lot of G8Fs; so, rather than copying drive contents, I did a fresh library install.

i have a problem to convert my modified Michael 7.
The eyes looks not good. I have tried all options but nothing helps. I have delete morphs, too.
Any ideas? Thanks.
The morphs look fine. That just looks like the texture for the eyes, which are now probably using a different UV set. Apply a G8 eye texture to the eyes.
Right is the original and left the converted.s
The breast has an error and her face not looking like the original.
Could you help?
When you load the Sloane character preset in a normal scene, does she look right or do you have to turn on the morphs yourself? If you have to turn them on, you need to use the scene converter script or save a character preset where the morphs are actually engaged.
But after the converting there is no Sloane Slider for the Genesis 8. But if i reduce the Victoria 7 slider for the body, the body is okay but it don't work for the Head. I have try all options, like 2020,2019 with hide eyes...

And i don't really know in which cases i better use the scene converter instead of the character converter?
More than likely, the script failed trying to find the morph for the character slider. The script needs to fix a few lines in the character slider when it is created so it works. On some systems, it cannot find it so it cannot update the file. If you start from scratch (i.e., delete the generated morphs), convert Sloane, and post the log of the conversion, I can see.
Yes but the problem is that it is dial in(see picture)....and if i dial it out it is only small changes.
I am not sure then. You need to examine the controller dsf (in a text editor) for both the original character and for the converted character. See what morphs the converter missed.
Because it seems it gives problems with the "Sloane Head controller" if i dial it out on the original Preset, the char looks like the converted G8.
You must have the G3 version. The converter tries to convert the 200 Plus morphs I think (there are a lot of morphs being converted). If it converted them correctly, it should look the same. There should be a ton of morphs in the converted directory for this character.
For the controllers, I am talking about the CTRL *.dsf files for sloane and its conversion. If you open them in a text editor (you may have to open them first in 7Zip if they have been compressed), they will look like this with a both of formulas for all the morphs they turn on:
Hm it gives no CTRL File for the original. It has three slider files. Head,Body and VYK_Sloane.
Yes there are a lot of morphs in it.
Hm i have check all the sliders in DAZ3D. They are all the same, seems nothing is missing. But it seems that the G8 can't create the same head like the G3.

This is the CTRL from the converted.
For the original i don't find a CTRL.
For the original, what is the slider that dials in the whole character? That is the CTRL slider. If you show the parameter settings (from the gear), you will see the file path listed for the asset, e.g., /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs/Emrys/Ahmunet/CTRL-E3DAhmunet.dsf

I have tried to convert this with all possibilities options of the converter. Delete the morph folder.

I have try all options, delete all morphs....
But all the time it looks like this:

Please give he a bra of some kind - the issue will still be visible.

Okay,
here are the logs.
Well, it definitely converted a lot (>60) of morphs for this character. Looking at the log, it does generate and even fix the controller:
When you load a G8F, can you find this controller (CTRL-RSC-BarbaraANA or BarbaraANA)? Can you dial it in?
Yes but the problem is that it is dial in(see picture)....and if i dial it out it is only small changes.
I am not sure then. You need to examine the controller dsf (in a text editor) for both the original character and for the converted character. See what morphs the converter missed.
Hm..i have look at this files. Are there the controller?
They are really big, where i have to search exactly?
Could the problem be that i don't have this for G8? 200 Plus Head and Face Morphs for Genesis 8 Female(s) | Daz 3D
