Can you still access your content under "Daz Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats" ?
yes...but I always use the a,b,c, part.....under products.....why do I have multiples now???
Try rebooting your PC, that should clear it.
Jimmy c....... nope still have multiples of letters......
I don't know what has happened there Trish.
I had something similar the other day when using Customize, there were multiple entries for my Toolbar, and I just deleted them all one by one. A couple of them have come back, but it doesn't affect anything, the toolbars still function correctly, and only one icon is displayed, but it looks like a bug of some sort.
Apart from reinstalling, which you may not want to do, the only thing I can think of, is to use Preferences > Interface > Restore Factory Defaults to see if that works. You may not want to do that either. If you have your Layout saved, it may not cause too much bother Window > Workspace > Save Layout As.
Hang on for a little while to see if anyone else knows what to do.
ok Jimmy I will hang on ...just so you know I didn't change anything...I was working on that picture we were talking about earlier and when I re-started Studio it just came up like this......
It looks like a corrupted database index, the problem is how to explain in a simple and understandable way how to fix that without making things worse.
Maybe someone on Windows can explain how to stop the CMS, delete the file called ContentDB.ind and then start the CMS again.
would it just happen for no reason....that's the part I don't understand??? Scott gave me a link.....yes and Totte I do need real simple...Is this what I need???do all of this http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/8028/#105548
Yes, it would, that's the beauty of databases. They work like Las Vegas stage show magicians one second it's there, then it's gone. Can happen for a multitude of reasons, system crash, cms crash or data manipulation, installing or changing metadata.
The rule of thumb is, the faster the database is the more likely is it to corrupt the data. What described earlier is a way that work only on Valentina (which is the database used DAZ Studio). The problem is I have no clue where it is located on Windows.
Ok thanks Totte...well I know if you don't know then neither do I...LOL
have you tried resetting the Data Base from Daz Studio? In the smart content tab there are options in the upper right corner with the little lines (right click them) to reset the data base and reload it. I don't know if it would do a thing to help what is happening on the right side though.
If you click on the the little square with all the lines and look for content DB maintenance, click on it should have an option to reset the data base. Try resetting it. All your stuff might disappear after it its done. Then tell it to reload the metadata. That could take awhile with as much stuff as you have, but it might help. Its worth a shot. I had a different problem of stuff not showing up in smart content and things and this did help for me. I know its a different problem but it may work.
Rita: thank you but I am not messing with it right now... the last time......it took one week and three other people to sort it out and I don't play well with the guts of Studio....I have mega stuff installed....When it come to this part of it I am chicken shit....I have sent it to Kraig
Deleting the database in no way impacts the installed content...it will all be there, right where it is now. The problem is, that if you customized things in any way...Categories...then it's likely they will be lost, too.
so that would mean any zip files that I also added would be gone too?? I haven't customize things...At least not the way you are stating it....some one was also saying maybe I have too much installed is this too much....
No...not too much...the database should be able to handle many times that amount.
All the content will still be installed...but if you've added anything to the DATABASE...like manually adding non-DAZ content, then yeah, that will be gone.
And no, once the database corrupts, there is no 'fixing' it. It will get worse, until it stops working, completely.
IF the corruption isn't too bad, you may be able to save your user data (the stuff you added)...
Fixmypcmike runs through the steps, here

That's a lot. I have no idea how much is too much. I do know when I had to reload mine it took a little bit and I don't have much at all installed. Little enough I reinstalled daz studio and put my stuff back on it. I'd think it could take you a couple of hours to reload all your metadata. Trouble is I'm a newbie and couldn't even guess how long it would take to reload it all. One question though. Is this problem in the meta data?
Never mind, just go for it! Sounds like the best thing to do is to fix it now.
That is a 100% corrupted Database file. Building a new database file will fix it. Any products that have been hand installed will not be effected and the Metadata will be read again to create the new database file. The upper limit for a CMS type Database before split is some place well beyond 100 THOUSAND Item entries. I do not believe MOST Users have pushed the Database beyond it's design limits.
Delete the bad Database and then Build a new one. EXIT DAZ Studio, Reboot and Then let DAZ Studio Read the NEW Clean Database and all will return to normal.
1) export user data.....as per instructions by Mike.....If this is scenes ,scene subsets and zip files all that is out... if it includes anything else let me know where it lives( I had to lay down I have a bad cold...but I back now lets get on with this).....I don't know where the database lives...Is this it??? I can't find anything that says data base just data...
Your Database lives in the CMS folder. Not in the DAZ Studio content folder.
ok I think I found it under program files 86...the thing in my cms folder is this .....the computer screen looking deal...
That looks to be DIM. If I was not in a render right now I would hunt mine down. I think it Hides in a funny place because its a PUBLIC file.
And thats just the PRG my DEAR not the Database File.
ok found this one under reg. program files.. It says CMS...man this Darkside stuff is everywhere....I am still looking for the data file.....
My Mac mini is equipped with only 500GB and it has only 6xGB left!
Most of them are installed by DAZ's DIM!
So,I don't think you install too much.
leochen0706: yes you are getting close to full.....I want to see some of your renders sometime...where do you post them??? Do you have a gallery here on Daz???
Trish if you haven't found your database files yet I think the ones you are looking for is in C:/ProgramData/DAZ3D/Content Manager Services/database ... in that folder you should find 5 files . My ProgramData folder was a hidden folder so had to change to show hidden folders and it showed up right under the Program Files x86 folder
Yes, my Mac mini is almost full.
I am just a newbie.
I like to play with computer and explore something from it.
Yes,I do have a "Gallary" for fun in the DAZ.
Since my Mac mini is too slow that I can not play big.
So, I just play small scene.
PS: http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#users/649/
PS: My Mac mini is i5 only.
PS:
I did assemble two i7 computers with Win7.
One of them is left in San-Chung.
The other one is occupied by my elder son.
And he is good in killing computer that ...
Kharma: got it now you are right it was hidden.....ok now what??? right click and kill one??? which???
2.)ok part 2 of the instructions say ....exit DS, stop CMS, and delete the database index(contentDB.ind)
How do you stop the CMS??? can I do that through the DIM??? people you are talking to a dummy here I need help please...OMG will someone just drop a rock on my head and put me out of this misery
leochen0706: you have some very nice renders in your gallery !! Trish
Go to the Content Library, click the little box in the corner (the one with a > on what looks like lined paper), then select Content DB Maintenance from the drop down list...
Then Export User Data...
Then you need to shut down Studio...
After it shut down and the CMS has stopped, delete the ContentDB.ind file...and only that one (for now)...then restart Studio. It may take longer to start while it rebuilds the database...
