The Laundry List...Needed Items

Hey everyone,

So I have an extensive list of items that I need to locate, free or for sale in the DAZ store. I am starting the story board process for my new short film and I would love to do the entire story boarding with DAZ. I have a huge content library already but still just can't seem to locate some of the stuff I need, either due to the keywords I am searching for in DAZ or that they might be bundled in some other sets.

For simplicity I will try to break this list down into two categories, scenes vs. individual props:

Scenes:
Kitchen
Living Room (need at least one window if possible)
Hallway
Bathroom
Bedroom

Props:
Wedding Dress
Engagement/Wedding Ring
Wireless Home Phone
Picture Frames for hanging on walls
TV Remote
Magazines
Couch

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Thank you so much! This is a great start!

Can anyone share any experience with how easy to use Room Creator Version 2 is to use? This looks like it has some serious potential. We already have picked out the physical house that we are planning to film in, so if this set is user friendly enough, it might make it possible for me to replicate the actual floor plan.

    Thanks.

Was just coming to say this. You're PC member Gemini so all of the Dream Home and Apt 39 products are 1.99/ea.

As for the wedding dress, you really could take your pick. Take any dress you like and re-texture it white w/ lace and whatever else you need.
I know Chohole has some textures for the MFD on her page. http://chohole.ovbi.org/page_7.htm The two I spotted were Rhoswen and Vanora if you're looking for a more traditional white style.

Here's one of hers for the Pharaoh's of the Sun dress (available in the store for 1.99): http://www.sharecg.com/v/34674/gallery/11/Poser/Shimmery-White-for-PoTS-Dress
The Belle Epoch looks like a wedding dress: http://www.sharecg.com/v/35250/related/11/Poser/The-Belle-Epoch
.. and Chohole's texture for it makes it look moreso like one: http://www.sharecg.com/v/34599/gallery/11/Poser/Belle-white-for-La-Belle-Epoch

Room Creator is my product, so I may be biased, but what I will say in its favor is that it's extremely versatile, and is also compatible with the Home One series of products, which might be very helpful to you.

    For example, you mentioned

Picture Frames for hanging on walls
    TV Remote
    Magazines
    Couch

Home One Living-room has all of those, (plus much more). The picture frame has loads of morphs and can be hung horizontal/vertical with a string & nail. There are single magazines, a set of morphing mags (so you can scatter them over a table, stack them, etc) and a large book collection. There's a TV, remote, dvd player, video player, plus a dvd and a collection of video tapes.

    Re Room Creator.

You can find all the details of RC, plus a tutorial here.

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/artzone/azproduct/5802

It's not a 'load and render' system, but it will give you the maximum flexibility to build your own rooms/house.

Incidentally, the wiki pages for most DAZ products can be found in this list.

If you go to ShareCG and search for 'sofa' or 'couch' you'll have several items to choose from. There are also some bath sets, though not as elaborate as purchased items. The tough part might be getting all items in a consistent style.

I've used Apt 39 before. It's pretty flexible. No kitchen or bath though. Apt 39 (or the Modern Apt Bundle) can do living room, bedroom, maybe laundry room. I've never used the appliances. Funny, my 3D characters never seem to need to do laundry...

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Bridal Dress Design Kit for Stephanie 3 Petite's Morphing Fantasy Dress (and expansion packs). You'll find it here: http://www.daz3d.com/bridal-dress-design-kit-for-sp

Definitely worth looking into, unless you have a serious aversion to Generation 3 figures....

When I searched for it, I also noticed that there is one for Victoria 3's MFD, as well. So, I guess it's kind of "6-point-Oh of one, half-dozen of the other...." And both are Platinum Club items, so....

Thanks Maclean and everyone for all the great links. I definitely was leaning towards your Home One series and room creator. I will be purchasing a lot of stuff tonight. I don't want to go over board...but more is better than less. LOL

I am still struggling with trying to find a wedding dress but I might do what was suggested and just texture one of the dresses I already have. In this pre-vis stage of production the important thing is just to get the point across and communicate with my team how I want each shot and scene to look and feel. Broad strokes.

Thanks again to everyone for their help. I might pop back in with other questions if I forgot something that I needed as I progress.

I didn't mention it because I didn't know it existed. When I searched, I used "wedding" and didn't think to use "bridal"

Here's the V3 version though and kits 2 and 3, which I assume will work with both V3 and SP versions.

How hard would it be to get this dress to work with other Gen characters? I don't think I even have any Gen 3 figures.

They're only textures, so if you have the V4/Genesis equivalents to the required products, then they'll be compatible to the newer versions.

I just realized I forgot another item. Does anyone know where I can find a luxury cruise ship? Like a modern Carnival cruise type ship?

Also, forgot to mention, for anyone's products that I use from DAZ store, Poser, etc. and for those that have provided any helpful links to those items, I would love to get your info just in case you would like to see your name in the Special Thanks section at the end of the film!

    Thanks.

*** Edit - I think Flying Steamer might work. It looks like you can detach all the other stuff and just have the boat. This might work!

Ok, it looks like Flying Steamer is only for Bryce, so unless someone knows how I can convert this to work with DAZ - without using Bryce since it is no longer compatible with my machine (Mac OSx 10.9 Mavericks) I guess that ship won't work.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Thanks so much! Perfect! I just downloaded the wedding dress. I have to wait till tomorrow to purchase a lot of the other props I need for the interior sets, but having this at least helps me get started on some other artwork that I need to do such as poster art and web stuff. The dress itself is actually not ever worn by the character in many scenes but it is an essential prop. I will need to figure out how to morph it and distort it a bit to make it look right. For example at one point she has it laying neatly on the bed. I am used to working with figures and posing them with clothes already on so haven't really tried to mess with having clothing look rumpled on the floor, etc. So if you can offer any suggestions please PM me.

    Thanks again!

    Almost.

The V3 textures will work with the V4 (and, as far as I know, Genesis) MFDs -- and Aiko's, The Girl's, and Laura (Young Teen Generation-3 figure); all of those dresses use essentially the same mesh, so the UVs map cleanly. and you can use Auto-Fit to fit the V4 MFD to Genesis, if it comes to that.

But little Stephanie just has to be different! Her MFD is built from a different mesh, so the V3 bridal-dress textures (or any other V3 MFD texture) will not work on it. (That girl has been a hell-raiser from the very beginning -- which is why I like her so much!)

Oh, one other thing I should note: the expansion packs (2 and 3) for the V3 bridal dress design kit require that flamenco dress for Victoria 3, Spanish Rose, and its various expansion packs. As far as I can tell, they're all PC items, so setting up your own virtual David's Bridal shouldn't break the bank.

The Poser Cloth Room should work for that. I used it recently to drape some M3 clothing over a bench in a locker-room scene I did (a bit too racy for DAZ's TOS -- jock-straps and guy-butts -- so I posted it on Facebook!), and it worked out just beautifully!

You just have to load the dress, apply the textures, and then export it as a Wavefront .OBJ, and delete the dress from your Poser scene. Then re-import the .OBJ, translate and rotate it to where you need it to be, then go into the Cloth Room and set up a simulation. Be sure to include the bed and the floor as collision objects, and set 'Cloth self-collisions' also. Then set the simulation to run. (It's liable to take a while, so if your garage needs clearing out, this would be a good opportunity.)

It shouldn't take that long...all you really need is to have the dress you want to throw over something and the item you are throwing it on in your scene. And if it does, you can always use the same technique in any modeling app that does cloth...like Blender. Since you don't need to 'wear' the item, just weld/remove doubles/not worry about keeping the vertex order/count, as you would if you are making a morph.

Change the x, y, or z offset of one of them. :cheese:

As for living rooms, I'm partial to Classic Deco... but I like the Art Deco style.
