What a wonderful time to be broke. I'll try to get the list updated soon for this influx of new stuff. Part of me thinks it's a mild missed opportunity in body shape variance for the female figure but on the flip side that might be a harder sale.

Alright, I think I have all of my updates current, barring some possible Dawn/Dusk stuff. Let me know if you see anything missing or notice something that's not available anymore.

For now, I think most of the body shape variance -- for both figures -- is provided through Fuseling's FSL Royal Darius and FSL Regal Monique morph sets. Which, now that I look, probably need to be added to your list.

The new Skin Masters for Monique 6 and Darius 6 Bundle is great! Lots of subtle variations in skin tones, color and gloss. Also a lot of tribal paint and ashes. They render faster than the original materials.

Hi Luci, thank you so much for sharing this with us!
I'm always so curious to see what people are doing with my shaders (I'm V3Digitimes), if they will love rendering with them or not, and I absolutely enjoy your renders!
Yes it renders faster on the standard figures, and normally it is even much faster than the original shader if you are using HD figures. You should render 4 to 6 times faster depending on lights and render settings (sometimes more).

A test render of Monique with Reality/Lux, straight out of the box with no changes to settings. Came out pretty well, I thought. (I've been wrangling with Darius and Reality/Lux since then. Like a poisonous bee sting from hell, that. Monique was staggeringly easy compared to him.)

Darius6, making clear why good palms and soles are so important. Also up in my dA gallery, and entered in a couple of PlatClub contests.

I guess he deserves to be in here, too!

One thing I am happy to find is how easily LAMH generates black hair.

(Just a regular Genesis 2 Male. I have the various morph packs, and I find it's not terribly hard to dial in all sorts of features)

Something I'm wondering is if the archive should be slightly reorganized. Outside of broad categories it's not really in any true organization outside of rough release order and even that's not consistent.

Also, making the general "have I missed anything?" post.

Separately, has anyone with beta access been testing Iray settings for darker skins? They tend to get neglected for this sort of thing.

I've had good results just setting the translucency a little lower.

    http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/Ninive-Nuit-534743928
Ninive with the skin made a little darker and a little less translucent (and more pure red translucency), facial adjustments.

    http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/Ninive-Benjamin-534717342
Ninive with Benjamin skin + iray optimized skin conversion. A few minor tweaks.

So, yeah. Doesn't need much, IMO. (Though I wouldn't normally darken a light skin like I did in the first case -- I don't think it looks quite right, but I was happy I was able to get it to come out that good)

Did a trial with Darius 6 a couple of weeks ago (posted in the main Iray "Show Us Your Renders" thread) - used some of the skin settings being recommended for white skins at the timeas the basis - what do you think?

I think it looks great. You can reduce the translucency a little, which removes some of the red undertone. Another option, if you really want, is to take the skin maps and make them a little lighter/less saturated, but most of the time I don't find it worth doing.

Yes, I thought he might be a little reddish-toned. I'll try your hints later, thanks.

Fun with Darius and Monique! Default conversions, effectively; aside from sticking maps in a few unmapped slots, nothing special done to either for skin tone. I did make a different bump map for Darius' face, because it was just too smooth even when I increased bump value, but that's it.

Oh Alex L! He is hunky!

What skin is that? I've been trying to find a really "black" skin that still looks natural (anyone point me in the right direction? Alex L's is the closest I've seen but I still want darker :) need male, would like female) Thanks!

It's actually Rob Elite for M4, but applied to Genesis to take advantage of a blend of the African morphs from the Ethnicity pack.

Have you seen this? It covers a full range of 'black' and a good handful of other colors as well.

    Skin Masters For Darius 6

Skin Masters should not be used in Iray; it's not compatible. If you try to convert Skin Masters settings into Iray settings, it turns the character texture into an emissive. Granted, very low power, but still. Who needs their character to turn into a 6 watt light bulb? It works best to make sure a character's texture is using AoA Subsurface shader before trying to convert to Iray Uber base.

Skin Masters is also very specifically designed to work with the particular texture sets it's made for. It can be used with others, but be aware that you may need to reset UVs and remove the normal maps for whichever character version you purchase, Darius or Monique. (It's worth noting that Darius and Monique are the only textures currently using the Darius and Monique UV sets. I sincerely doubt any other texture creators will use those UVs again.)

As far as darker textures go, there are some, but almost all of them have been made by darkening the diffuse, which means that the hands and feet are deeply problematic. Tyler for M6 is the best of the darker male textures, although whether or not he 's as dark as you want I can't tell, of course; he also has perfect hands and feet. Cayman for Darius is the next-best of the darker male textures so far, but I call him my "problem child", because he's so dark that getting a good render with him is massively difficult, no matter what shader you use; he has some hands/feet issues, although nowhere near as bad as others. I don't have Rochella for Belle, Ryk for Brodie, Marie or Tamara for Monique, or Nabila V6, all darker textures, because of the hands and feet issue.

    Check out FW Cayman

He uses AoA and should convert without to Iray without too much hassle, though I haven't tried him yet.

    Oh, there's hassle, trust me!

The default conversion settings are absolutely wrong for Cayman. (And pretty much every other dark skinned character EXCEPT Darius and Monique, which makes me wonder if those two characters were maybe back-converted -- developed with Iray in mind, and then the 3Delight version done afterward.) However, the shader settings that TinaEvil at deviantArt developed for Rob Elite, and that I tweaked a certain amount, work surprisingly well as a base for Cayman. They need lightening -- a light/medium gray base color is absolutely not Cayman's friend in Iray -- but it's workable. The settings I've used so far probably need some more tweaking, but not terrible, I think. (I have no idea why his eyes are blue. Last time I looked, they were brown. Apparently, I was doing stuff with eyes and forgot to tell myself about them.)

Image below is just a test of those settings, killed after about 400 iterations, but pretty decent, on the whole. (The scene has 5,000,000 lumens of mesh light in it. Iray takes a LOT of light.)
