For those asking about Alice, I can say that some of the comments in this thread about her not being everyone's cup of tea is why she's not generally available. Alice is like their "baby". And seeing people have negative reactions to her made it hard for them to keep her available. They went back and forth a couple of times with what to do with her and finally decided it was too painful for them to see their baby being called ugly.

She's far from ugly and she's quite muscular for a baby. However, it is the eyes that put me off. I am trying to think of a well known actress who has those very pale eyes - I found it disturbing to watch her on screen. If I had Alice, I would immediately change the eye colour but probably not much else.

As for the set - I bought the G3 version but will pass on this. I have lots of T-Shirts and limited use for capri pants. Good that the cloth is dForce though, I was quite tempted for a while.

I was only suggesting those that do like her could use the face generation plugins

and explaining why I am not going to cheeky wasn't trying to upset AS by saying  she is not to my taste

I have always found Alice to be very iconic and would purchase a new version of her in a HEARTBEAT!  I'm fine if people don't like her, but the solution is so simple - DON'T. BUY. HER!  For those of us who DO like her, your negative comments certainly don't do anything to help convince Aeon Soul to release her. <Thanks-not thanks. sigh>

I bought the outfit and was surprised how much the price dropped for gettting nearly all of it. Thanks Aeon Soul!  (And please, Please, PLEASE consider releasing Alice for those of us who just love her!)

I dont like it when PA's use a figure in a promo (especially a figure that isnt even part of the product being sold) when the figure is way too stylistic.  With Aeon Soul i'm afraid that the characters body will end up making the clothes look different when i put it on a non-alice/non-aeon soul character.  I'm the same way with Hameleons pose/expressions products and some of Zeddicus' pose/expression products.  Hameleon always uses the same Kitana character in their promos and it seems like the model has a huge thigh gap, also what seems an overly stylistic face that is in a perpetual state of trying to look sexy.  If i'm looking at one of their pose/expressions how can i supposed to tell if what i'm seeing and what i'm going to get is part of the pose or if its part of that PA's character with exaggerated features? A few of Zedd's products have me thinking this too.  Whenever they do the sleepy/sexy/seductive looking eye pose.  I'm left thinking if their pose set has that same look with the eyes or if they did something a little extra to spice up the promo pics or what.

Yeah, it would really behoove them to show their product with a variety of characters.

For what it is worth, I like Alice AND I like your JaguarElla, WendyLuvsCatz !  (But I don't just like everything - there are some things that are repugnant to me, so I get where people come from when they say they don't like something.)  All of us having such a diversity of preferences and tastes is what keeps things interesting!

Can you post a render how this outfit looks on G8M? I'm always looking for good outfits for male characters and was not sure yesterday whether I really want to end up with a product that looks neither good with autofit nor the G8 shape tool.

Everyday 2 for Genesis 8 Female on Genesis 8 Male with a little bit of Toon Hero dialed in.  Sporty for Everyday 2 textures applied.  Shoes are from DZ FaZhion Set 1 available at Rendo.  I'm satisified with the auto-fit on Genesis 8 Male.

Nice render and just really great quality asset here. I will be purchasing the full sets this weekend if the sale doesn't go away. Hard to keep up with so many great products coming out so close together, not that I am complaining!

Thank you very much! This is really helpful. I'm not sure I like the neckline on G8M. Will think again ...

This was the closest I ever got to making Alice. (My attempt was intended to be a mix of the various versions with the features I liked more.)  However, if I were to have the actual character, I'd dial her down some and mix it other morphs until I got something similar to this anyway.

Usually for a week around Christmas time. It was an excellent package for an excellent price. There were very three different body types, and the head morph was separate. I never particularly cared for the face, myself (the eyes never looked like they were designed to close, and that just seemed *uncomfortable*) but there was no requirement to use the Alice face. Alice 4's bodies turned up in a lot of renders over the years.

There was later an Alice 5 body type that was available at RDNA for a while, but that was the last of the official Alices that I know of that was ever commercially available. I don't think there was ever a commercial version later than gen4.

If you look on the Aeon--Soul deviantart page, "Alice 5 (for V4) - 2013" is avalible for download.

Several years ago I created a character using Genesis3 (Sunny7) based on AeonSoul's Alice shape using Alice5 as a reference.

Actually one of Thorne's dolls might be a very reasonable starting point for an Alice "type". That's a good choice.

now interestingly I like Thorne's figures as they are stylised enough not to hit that uncanny point Alice sadly hits for me, they remind me of Gelflings from the Dark Crystal.

Likewise 3DU's figures and other toons like the girl.

Alice looks just too real human but wrong. I don't want to turn this into an Alice bashing post just trying to figure out what actually it is that causes the discomfort for my own peace of mind. blush

Mimic Molly's version looks fine and even cute to me so it's something more ellusive.

Right  - and this thread proves why there won't be another version of her.

Usually people around here are nice enough to not write if they dislike a character. Usually ...

For the record: I like Alice, all of her.

    In this case - no.

As far as I know Alice was modeled after Ariel Shanim's and Siliphiel's daughter. How would you feel about reading comments like the ones in this thread about your daughter?

I didn't think she was a real person as never seen anyone that looks like that

I am sorry I didn't mean to be nasty to their daughter I was only to my knowledge not liking a stylistic figure.

You can't blame people that didn't know. And you can't blame people for having an opinion. Not everyone can like everything. And if someone is so sensitive about something (like they are about the Alice figure), maybe they shouldn't use it where people are likely to critique it. It's not that people aren't nice, it's that people have opinions. Like everyone. To me, she looks entirely stylized and not at all like a real person, but that doesn't make me mean, it's just how I perceive the figure. And a lot of people lately are misreading things like "plain" and "put me off" as things like "horrible" and "disgusting" when that isn't at all the case. I know it's hard to tell what people really mean on the internet, but I think some folks are taking things totally different as to how people actually mean them.

  • I would certainly not if I were a parent be putting my daughter's likeness out there for the DAZ Poser world to render what a large proportion of them do so that is very understandable case closed.

I guess I am just not nice ....

In general ,if a creator becomes too emotionally involved in a CG figure or other Commercial 3D/CG product then IMHO perhaps it is best they keep it in house and spare themselves (and their fandom) the vicissitudes of public opinion..... by some of the "logic" expressed in this thread, Daz would be justified in never releasing another attractive ,young ,white, female character because of the many "mean" things said about them in these very forums.
  • This thread has certainly drifted, which is fine, but hasn't gotten back on course.

The Alice was a nice branch, but really, we've now gone off to talking about people's feelings.

Let's remind ourselves to discuss concepts and ideas and not other forum members and such..

    Also, arguments aren't allowed either.

So let's all agree to agree before we get clipped.

    --------------------------------------------------

    Overall, I do find

    https://www.daz3d.com/everyday-2-for-genesis-8-females

to be more of an update, like a native version for Gen 8 with a few new twists.

Another huge attraction was the loose shirt morph pack

    https://www.daz3d.com/morphs-for-everyday-2

Finally, I have something a prop that can be retextured into almost anything cloth.

    I see a wash rag

    a flung jacket

    A towel

A cape (especially a superhero cape)

    A savage flag

Scaled up for a curtain or flap

    ------------

I have so many sahses that do not have enough morphs that I hate to use them....

Also things with strips that need to swing far off the body during action moments.....

    ------------------

I do wish Aeon Soul would branch into other areas......

I would love to see them actually make...loose garments, like a true superhero cape with 8 million morphs and dials (and no deforce lol)

    And A LOT more poses.

More, more poses. More dynamic poses, standing still poses....waiting poses....conversation poses...

I want another walking poses and running poses.....

I like the overseer series and that whole aesthetic....

    https://www.daz3d.com/proxy-xps-tau-ceti-futuristic-styles-for-proxy

But I'd like them imagine another faction that is at odds with the Tau Ceti culture....and not mindless monsters, but another advanced humanoid civilization.

Like if RawArt was captured and brain-scanned. What a collabo that would be!

And last, while I'm here...a male version of The Legend.

    https://www.daz3d.com/the-legend-for-genesis-3-and-8-female-s

Alice is the wonderful 'face' of Aeon Soul, an eyecatcher I will never miss out. I don't know if I would like it if there were hundreds of Alices in the various galleries of the 3D universe... Though I would probably buy her if she was available, I think AS should keep her exclusive. Yes, she's a bit creepy, but this, in addition with her otherwise lovely, innocent features and the well defined body, gives her her unique, special charisma.

  • I converted Alice years ago to G2 with GenX. She looks loads different  with a lot less of the character that the the original and the current  Alice has though

I didn't know her name but I knew immediately you had to be talking about the actress from "The Osterman Weekend". I basically saw about 15 minutes of the movie almost 40 years ago on TV and the only thing I remember of it was her. I think her eyes are beautiful although we wondered at the time if her eyes were real. I forgot about her until about 5 years ago when I was living temporarily in a house on horse farm and met the landlord and his eyes were the same ice blue color I remembered on her decades earlier on TV. They were gorgeous but I admit wondering if they made him excessively squint and such from sensitivity to bright light, although his wrinkles didn't seem to indicate that. So yep, a few people do have naturally colored eyes that are that light and clear an ice blue.
