Dream Home Childrens Furniture Set not usable
Hi,
last week I purchased to product "Dream Home Childrens Furniture".
I additionally downloaded the extra ressource files.
But after installing via DIM and adding the ressource files, I only find some (?)-scripts (perhaps for presets) which create only the message that a target object has to be selected first.
I allready contacted the help center and they stated it is usable with any environment and any setup in DAZ without any further prerequisit. But I didn't find, or better missed, the in the product details description announced objects, materials, textures and presets.
So what files and folders must be found in the zip file and in the additional ressource files for Windows?
Under what path should the ressourcefiles be installed? I did under my main content path (".../DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/...").

There's a 99++% chance that they ARE correctly installed and already to go...but that you are not looking in the correct place to find them.
They are an item that was around before smart content and DS4.x and the new file formats...so in that means the base objects will most likely NOT be found in Smart Content. You will need access to the Content Library...which probably means changing to something other than default layout (well, you can get there in the default...it just wasn't where I was expecting it to be...look on the right hand side of the screen, it will be one of the tabs/panes there, I think).
Then, you need to look under Poser Formats...
Hi,
I again looked into the zip files and folders.
As well in the commercial zip-file as in the zip-file from the additional ressorce files (which is idetical ??) are only some .ds files and the corresponding 91px thumbnails.
For the MAC-OS there is a 10 MB install folder, but for Win - - nothing !!
So perhaps the .exe file from the free available ressource files may help?
But where have I to place it before execution?
Please help !!
Andy
P.S.
Why isn't there any proper install ???
It may be that the zips are incorrectly tagged and the Poser version is required as well as the DS -- is the DS versions labeled "DS" or "StudioCF"? As a work-around,, go to your Download Filters in DIM and see if the other zip shows up when Poser is checked. If so, can you submit a support ticket so they can correct the tags?
Hi Mike (?),
I allready submitted a support ticket. They only answered it works with every setup, as posted first, and that's was. No further answere from the support team.
I'm really disappointed from the DAZ-team. >:(
I'm not sure what you mean by the additional resource file, nor by Mac and Win versions since there's only one Dream Home Children's Furniture product that i can see and it has zips not installers. The DS zip has materials files for DS, the Ps zip has the models, textures and Poser files. As mjc1016 said, you need to load the models from the Poser libraries and then apply the DAZ Studio materials (after which you may want to save them as a scene subset so you have only one step to load them in future).
On the store page...the templates are still exe installers/Mac specific zips.

But they don't have to be purchased. And if that is what is being referred to, they aren't needed to use the content - they are guides to help create new texture sets, if desired.
Hm,
But they don't have to be purchased. And if that is what is being referred to, they aren't needed to use the content - they are guides to help create new texture sets, if desired.
but that doesn't solve the missing props.
And still no answere on the help line !!
YOU need the Poser file installed. The Props are in Poser format and are only in the Poser file.
Did you install both the PS and DS packages? And are you loading the models from the Poser content libraries, then applying the materials from the DAZ Studio content folders?
Shouldn't the DIM have installed both the Poser and DS files?
The next question...are the folders that the DIM would have installed them to, actually mapped, to both Studio and Poser formats, in Studio?
Just Double checked this item. it is Flagged wrong. Only the DS files are listing in DIM. The user will need the Poser files added to the install.
As others have mentioned, you do need the Poser files even if you're installing to DS. The DS installation is very small because it's only the material definitions. It contains no textures and no props. The furniture itself and all of the necessary goodies are all in the Poser files and thus it won't work without them.
I've checked my installers and they look fine.
Again my question,
because the producer/author is the store "DAZ 3D" why didn't they build a proper DAZ package ???
Of cause users of DAZ primary install the DAZ package. !!
At the moment I can't cross check, becaus I'm running a long time render.
Errors happen in setting some of the older content to work with every version of software it can be flagged to work with. It was a simple error that any one could make, it will be noted and fixed as soon as possible. The DIM is very NEW and mistakes are made, they are fixed once the error is known.
Hi,
But as state of the art they're distributing (normally) with seperate Poser and DAZ installers. !!
And so a customer isn't using Poser, he's using DAZ he uses the DAZ installer, of cause.
DAZ Studio started life as a POSER art program, ALL content was POSER content at one time. The issue has been noted and will be fixed.

You do realize that DAZ is a pretty small company, with a small staff and has spent a lot of time converting it's entire catalog over to files that are usable by the DIM?
The fact that this type of error isn't more common, is pretty amazing. And most of the times it does happen, then it's almost always on older products and is something simple like a wrong entry in a database and not anything wrong with the files/formats of the files themselves.
Here you go. Go to My Account> My Products> Enter the Name then click on it. In the Full View you can Download the PS version that DIM is not listing...
Sorry,
but I'm a rather new DAZ user. I'm not used to spend my money to covert Poser stuff.
It's not a question of converting Poser Stuff. Poser was around long before DS, and all older products will tend to be what you are calling Poser stuff. This is why you have a "Poser Formats" section in your DS libraries, because this is where these files will be installed, so you can use them in DS.
You do NOT convert POSER stuff it was Designed to be USED in DAZ Studio. That is why it has Daz Studio textures and poser textures. MOST content is POSER format. You need nothing but the content.
Hi Jaderail,
if that's really necessary, they explicitly have to instruct that DAZ users have to install the Poser stuff, too.
Or they better include the necessary files into the DAZ installation package. That would be proper software configuration management.
If they want to offer the job as a software architect, I'm open to take it.
I have well over 30 years of PC expertise I think one Database setting out of thousands is not a bad thing just a Opps.
Sorry no !!
The content folder only has the scripts and the thumbnails. All the props, object, textures, ... are missing.
MOST of the stuff IS handled that way by the DIM...this product was misflagged, so it isn't AUTOMATICALLY handled by the DIM. If it were properly flagged, then both would have been installed, in the first place.
I pointed YOU to it.. if you do not get it that is your choice. My Account> My Products > Dream Home Childrens Furniture and then INSTALL the PS file.
Or else change the download filters in DIM to include Poser temporarily so you can download the file. Once you've downloaded it you can set the filters back to just DS.
